The only retarded shit in the game is the input to use tools, which uses the same button of your special move. Having to press Up+R1 complicates shit by a whole fucking lot when you are already having difficulty to dodge enemies while you jump.
The best quality of life the game got to offer was after I got the architect crest and it enabled the use of tools with a simple R1 press instead of this retarded input. You can't even rebind the up+r1 to something else.
That arena is a thousand times easier when you can just use your tools with just the press of a button.

Forty hours in, and I'm glad you're having fun, but I honestly don't understand how. It's an incredibly mid metroidvania and it just doesn't feel good to play. There's no momentum. The bosses and enemies are designed in such a pernicious manner. I can't stand it. Nothing wants to be enjoyed. Everything must be suffered. Why? The final nail in the coffin for me was just how little enjoyment I felt in one of the optional end game areas, and hearing how difficult the last boss was. I don't need to deal with that.

Game should have ended after Act 2. And in fact, I'm just going to pretend the bad ending was the only one, and act as if nothing after that ever happened.

Is it really just skill issues? I see a ton of people complaining about difficulty but outside of Bilewater, everything felt fine to me. Yes but expanded moveset is already something that exists in every other metroidvania.
HK1 at least gave you more freedom and more charm slots to sort of come up with your own little build and nail upgrades were significant.
In Silksong, only the tools feel varied, while the charms all sort of range from boring to insignificant and you can't even slot that many.
I'm sure there are some super cheesy strats already but in a regular playthrough it doesn't feel like you run is going to be much different than someone else's run in term of gameplay.

I think Silksong is a 7/10. You're all just absolutely fucking horrible at it.

Just got the 100% this morning. Game isn't perfect, but the combat is fucking amazing with one huge problem: the movement abilities are necessary to engage the game in a fun and reasonable way. Until you have double jump and hook shot the game isn't that great. The other big problem is while Act 3 was incredible, most of Act 2 that is outside the Citadel is dog shit (except First Sinner which is a highlight of the whole game).
The amount of fliers, with their movement tracking and move sets, is so unfun to fight until you have the hookshot, it's kind of unreal they shove so much of it in your face early. Too much of the game in Act 1/2 is just sitting there waiting for a flier to give you permission to get 1 (one, uno) hit in. It's bad design.
Also final true boss isn't that hard, git gud.

8.5/10. DLC might give it another point.

Absolutely nailed it with the early game criticism. I don’t know what they were smoking putting so many fliers in tight vertical zones before giving you *any* decent traversal. You get punished for playing aggressive and then punished again for playing safe because everything has a tracking dive or an AoE juggle move. I had PTSD from those damn lantern wasps in the marsh that bounce off-screen and reappear directly in your hitbox.

Combat flows great once you have the full kit but man, the pacing in Act 2 is a brick wall. First Sinner was pure sex though, that soundtrack slapped.

I've got the opposite opinion. Act 2 is great because there are multiple orders you can tackle the areas in. You have access to 90% of the map at that point, and there's generally at least something valuable in each area. Act 3 turns into a boss rush since you've already cleared out the areas aside from those spots you needed the super jump to get to. Combine that with some enemies now being a lot beefier, all void attacks being the same 3 across all enemies, and there being no significant change to the areas it makes me want to finish the game as soon as possible.
