In hindsight I didn't NEED to get this CPU, but I wanted to be future-proofed so that I don't have to upgrade for a long time (I'm not a fan of constantly swapping out motherboards, it's too finnicky to do on a regular basis) and seeing how long the 5800X3D has held on, I think it was a good choice for that basis

if push comes to shove I can always just upgrade to a 9800X3D later on, or maybe a 9950X3D if games and programs start meaningfully using more than 8 cores (none of this dumb Intel "15+ comepletely fucking useless e-cores that is only used by rendering programs!" bullshit)

Cache sensitive scenarios such as low res. canned game benchmarks benefit at the cost of everything else. Be wary of sponsored reviews with cherry picked games that showcase the wins, conveniently ignore frame drops and gloss over the losses. Also watch out for AMD’s army of Neanderthal social media accounts on reddit, forums and youtube, they will be singing their own praises as usual. Instead of focusing on real-world performance, AMD’s marketers aim to dupe consumers with bankrolled headlines.

Low end gpus were always going to die - Intel was working at it for years (though admittedly they are shit, seriously look at how much die area their integrated graphics takes up given the performance of them) to mostly push Nvidia and AMD out of a market where intel could shift some serious volume. AMD's APU efforts were somewhat going the same direction give or take "the future is fusion" which didn't pan out just so they could take a bite out of intel's iron grip on OEMs for laptop and office boxes, something they are still working at.

After Intel kicked nvidia out of the onboard graphics market (lmao nforce) they basically saw which way the wind was blowing and started winding down their shit tier cards over several generations

If you're just emulating and playing indies it's a perfectly capable GPU.
Depending on pricing you might also want to look into the GTX 1650, it's the Turing equivalent and the last of its class, you'll get slightly more power out of it.

Intel is a complete joke now.

AMD makes the best CPUs but Radeons stil get fucked by Nvidia, they can only compete by lowering price. And right now Radeon GPUs are overpriced thanks to anti Nvidia reviews.

Depends on the res and framerate, perfectly capable for 1080p 60ish fps for most games, maybe up to 2015, any higher and you'd need something better.

I advise buying a 2070, 3060, 3070, 4060 or 4070 used, much better and still very capable cards.

Nope, some retailer called B&H. Never heard of them, but that ram popped up unexpectedly while I was spending several hours yesterday seeking out a deal for some RAM. Was hoping I could find 3200MHz with 1.4 CL for less than $100, but considering how hard it was to even find this deal, expecting more would’ve been too greedy.
