The console generation is pathetic. We can cut Switch 2 some slack because they are just getting out of the gate, but Xbox and PS5 literally have no games.

For fucks sake holiday 2026 would normally be the time a new console generation would be introduced if we were still in the good era, PS5 came out almost 6 years ago!

Even the PS3 despite all the memes had more exclusives in its FIRST YEAR than this. The PS5 game library is a depressing testament to Sony’s inability to prioritize substance over spectacle.

Except they're still being released on the Switch 1 and PS4 as well. And both Switches are too shit to run them remotely properly. So basically PS4 is the only relevant console right now and only under an extremely specific use case that /v/ doesn't care about because they only play shitty rpgs.

The ports are important because, additional features aside, they offer automatic replays. This is pretty fucking important because nips often do not record their high scores. Arcade ports used to be a staple of consoles, and now they are again, and they're not locked to a shitty american console no one wants. They should be on Steam though, but CAVE is mad at us for pirating or something.

Consoles are dead because a DVD player was the only reason that they didn't die in 6th and 7th gen, thus encouraging a speculative investment bubble that burned through the game industry like Dysentery.
Token consoles still get released because no one actually wants to leave the market "just in case" and because people still haven't completely soured on them.
