What do you do as Lash around midgame after hitting the 3-1-Freezing item combo when you don't have all the cooldown items and can't expect your skills to become quickly available? Just Grapple/movement spaghetti to escape and try to set up another dive combo if they have damage? Quick melee slaps and tickles with the peashooter while waiting for 3 to become available if you think they can't kill you?

I'm really having a terrible time ever since I came back, biggest thing is the shop rework. I used to always get a mobility "crutch" item like Fleetfoot, Extra Stamina or Boots, but now with 4 slots less you don't have the luxury on most characters. You can use them to help your team escape from a bad place, a Haze ult, or a Kelvin snowball. They give a fat barrier when your teammates use them so they're good for initiation too. Well like other anons, I'm trying it out again since its been updated a lot recently.
I'm not trying to "attack" it. This is a genuine question, as I like most of the aspects of this games setting and aesthetic. I just think this is very stupid and at first glance seems like it was designed with certain things in mind. I just was reading through character backgrounds of ones I thought looked interesting, and was reminded of that from the first time I played.
That said, thank you for explaining it even if you thought I was just trying to shit on it, because if that is the actual case, it makes sense.

Because Abrams can charge people in a direction so you want to be able to warp behind them and charge them towards your team rather than away. No other mobility items lets you do that. Still anon, don't follow build religiously. Maybe the enemy team is more mobile than average, if you feel like you need extra stamina, get it. It's only 800 souls. If you sell it later it was only 400 souls.

Start roaming and ganking into other lanes, your combo should be enough to take off 3/4 of people's health and so whatever teammate you're helping out can finish them off. Also, don't be scared to use your ult agressively to remove people from safety - if there's a 2v2 lane with the enemy sat under their tower/walker, just use your ult to throw them out of safety, the tiny amount of damage from ulting on-top of the walker/guardian is nothing for turning the lane into a 3v0.

nta but I mean, you had the right idea, just not exactly there. Billy isn't a true melee character, he's a bruiser that wants to do melee but not to the extent of constantly just spamming heavy attack. His smg has insane dps up close if you build for it. In terms of spirit, you should generally not fuck with it unless you wanna do a meme spirit build just for laughs, normal builds one or two spirit items at most and only utility type. Also, as a side-note, obviously don't build fucking trophy collector if you're getting stomped. Pic related is my custom shit. Ultimately your mistake was spreading yourself out far too hard, especially with the purple items. Berserker and Blood Tribute work really well for Billy, in general as a rule of thumb you want to build more green than orange on billy as well.

Matchups, seeing what allies I have, seeing what the enemy team consists of, what they build, how they play, etc. It's why I have a dedicated anti-vindicta category, since she's a hard counter to Billy with her flight and stake (although Phantom Strike is really good on Billy in general). I'm not going to build Iron Skin on Billy unless the enemy team has a good Wraith or Haze for example. Ultimately it's intuition however. Play Billy enough times and you'll learn how to act and behave, but in general you want to be really aggro with Billy, just need to learn when you can go balls deep, and when you need to hold back a bit.

Like I said, first time playing him so I don't have the esoteric knowledge. But he definitely seems like a gun character. After I bullied the Pocket I shuffled lanes and decided to feed the fuck out of Drifter by caging people with him. It was an oppressive pairing. The cage works best if the target is already busy with something (getting jumped by a Cajun) or doesn't have a good way to just easily back off (because they're between a wall and a Cajun).

Im ok with 90% of the balancing in this game, some builds are just annoying and make them feel like theyre op, but people dont know how to build around them. BUT infernus and Dynamo black hole are lame and badly deisgned. You can be the worlds worst DPS player play infernus and be good in lane, great in mid game, and unkillable leach in end game. healbane, DBR and decay are not really even counters to his over tuned, lame kit. Slow hex works until around 20 minutes, then he has too much health to and lifesteal to burst him in 3s. You dont even need to build more than two spirit items and afterburn people for 550 dmg. You can be the stupidest dynamo player and because the deathball meta is kinda prevalent rn you can get one lucky 3-6 ppl black hole and win the game even if you went 0-9.
