Whenever I play Stardew I can't help but wish there were some Factorio style automation in there so parts of the farm could handle itself. I've just done a year so far and don't know much about optimization but I find it hard to leave the farm for full days and often end up spending hours doing small tasks before I can head out to the mine. Guess I need to replace any short grow time crop and just visit the animals not at 5 hearts

I notice this with my own son and his classmates. When I was in school in the 90s the kids were way lower quality than the kids nowadays. Most of the absolute bottom of the barrel genetic waste is already successfully filtered out, there are some stinkers out there still and they are not yet at the level of me and my son in terms of quality in general but it's improving.

Another good example is height. When I grew up (I'm 6'3) I was very tall. My son is projected to reach 6'7 when fully grown but his classmates will be around 6'2 which is almost my own height. So the genepool is improving.
