It does though? I've seen some gameplay of the starter areas and you can freely blow off the limbs of Orphans to make them easier to kill. Like blasting their legs forcing them to drag themselves at you or aiming at their heads for quick kills. They fully replenish themselves back to fighting conditions if thry absorb the corpses of other enemies though.

I tried the game and it's a pretty decent clone of RE4/reskin of SH2re. Literally everything you'd expect from this type of game is there. Boxes covered in yellow paint, locked doors, searching for keys and fuses, ammo crafting, you know the drill. The game seems to be well optimized, I'm running it on a fucking 1060 and have stable 60 fps on low settings.

It's basically a generic, third-person survival horror game with a somewhat intriguing premise. Scratches an itch if you're into that sort of thing, but it's nothing particularly remarkable. There's no wokeshit in it aside from a female main character that you don't even see at all, since she spends the whole time inside her suit afaik.

This is a UE5 game, which means the first model swap mods will appear in a couple of hours.
Replacing the spacesuit with something thinner and more form-fitting will definitely improve the gaming experience.

The combat system is weird. It's like it was designed assuming the player had a dodge/block button, but they removed it at the last minute before release. Zombies hit you and there's literally nothing you can do about it, you can't avoid damage or interrupt their animation with a shot/punch.

Yup. I've watched parts of the gameplay, but the devs were really hoping for it to be a hit so they could leave all the important parts as vague as possible for a possible sequel. There are very few characters and they are massive underveloped because most of what they say is bitching and pointing you to the next person that might have answers.
Both endings were dogshit, there's a third one but no one achieved it yet since apparently you need NG+ for that. In one the mc saves the woman that apparently can develop a cure by killing the guy partly responsible for the fuckery and sends her back to the past, but she's already infected so whoops teehee, it's a time loop so this woman is the one that brought the infection from the future. In the other ending the mc allow the guy to live so he brings the woman back to the past with him so he can fix the world with her help, but since she's infected he goes full retard and rips her soul anyway, then he goes ahead to put her soul into the body of the mc since it's a TIME LOOP.

man this is almost like their 20th game and they still don't know how to make a good one

Okay been playing several hours in and man i have been digging into the combat and general survival horror stuff, some of it is basic survival horror staples but they made the resources extra stingy for this one. its all have been fun so far
For example, i've upgraded the pistol damage once and started experimenting and found out that 2 charged shots to the head and then one melee attack kills one of the more basic non upgraded grunts so that's one bullet saved every kill
Positioning and kiting enemies is the big bread and butter of the game, since enemies try to go and merge with dead ones to get stronger, so its best to kill them near explosive barrels or gas cans and once you see the ones going to merge, then you can shoot the barrels for easy kills or burns.
I've also noticed charged shots go through enemies so sometimes its good to kite enemies in a straight line and position yourself to hit several of them with one bullet.
Also found out that health upgrades using cores fully heals you, so if you're low on health and want to upgrade your health too then do that and you end up saving several of your healing items.
One thing i REALLY don't like so far is that enemy and crates item drops are completely RNG, so for example you're in a combat section and you kill an enemy and it drops some shotgun ammo, but you end up dying in that fight, reload save, go back to that section and you kill the same enemy and this time it drops nothing. Then you win the whole fight and not a single ammo drop. Same goes for item crates, it feels especially sucky when they don't drop anything at all. I find myself save scumming and reloading saves that have easy crates nearby them and keep reloading until i get the ideal items from them,
I can honestly see plenty of people being filtered by the game's difficulty, if you're not smart and use strats to save up on your resources then you will run out of ammo, so better to have several saves so you dont back yourself into a corner

Another good tip, never max out your stacks on items, for example. handgun ammo max stack is 15 and health items are 2. So its best to only carry like 8-10 bullets and only 1 healing item so when you find more later on, they stack instead of filling your very limited item slots.

Yeah i do notice through experimentation and reloading fights, if you're low on ammo, enemies have a higher chance to drop it. But still if you're playing sloppily then its very possible to run out in that fight and having to resort to melee attacks.
Still even when i have an abundance of ammo and healing items, its still very RNG. I win a combat section almost perfectly with minimal ammo used both times and the results can vary between some enemies dropping some currency to two enemies dropping handgun ammo and one dropping shotgun ammo.

I'm confused. Everyone is saying it runs like shit but then I look at benchmark vids and the game runs at like 90 fps at 1080p on a 5 year old mid range card with a relatively stable frametime graph. It only microstutters when walking between areas.

Nah, it's worse in every way possible, to the point it isn't even a horror game nor has any tension. Callisto at least managed a few scares, this shit is just bland boring nothingness. The gameplay is equally shit and boring in both, big expldy barrels just like 9000 other games in the past wahooo, so speciul. Writing is equally shit though, that's the one thing that's not worse than Callisto, but rather the same.

This game is not worth more than $20 all things considered, and I'd still pirate it even with a steam sale. Thankfully it's already cracked on Day 1.

Worse graphics, equally bad writing, equally bad weapon variety but somehow worse since Callisto at least has grav; worse environmental gameplay that is to say none save for obviously placed explosive barrels, somehow worse performance which was already bad enough in Callisto so the standard is bellow even the bottom, worse sound stage. Literally the only thing it has going for it is ammo scarcity, but that's scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of gameplay standards and it's one already done better with actual environmental factors and creative weapons by many other games.
