Compared to Callisto Protocol:
Worse graphics, equally bad writing, equally bad weapon variety but somehow worse since Callisto at least has grav; worse environmental gameplay that is to say none save for obviously placed explosive barrels so low IQ's can feel intelligent shooting an obvious signal for AOE, somehow worse performance which was already bad enough in Callisto so the standard is bellow even the bottom, worse sound stage. Literally the only thing it has going for it is ammo scarcity, but that's scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of gameplay standards and it's one already done better with actual environmental factors and creative weapons by many other games.

I'm convinced these devs are being propped up by some corporate interest into failing upwards, they have Starfield level of false advertisement, viral marketing, and trashfire products.

Reposting my post from last thread in case anyone wants to see some tips for the game. Also the word limit thing is dumb.
Otherwise, a couple of hours more in after getting one of the essence.
Which is actually pretty cool, its kinda like a perk thing. The first one you get lets you do extra damage to burning enemies, i wonder how good the rest will be.
Story is intriguing but i feel like i can predict some stuff in it, hopefully they prove me wrong.
Some disappointing or annoying aspects.
I really wish the game lets you manually turn on or off the flashlight, it only turning on or off in certain areas is dumb, some rooms are dark but you can't use your flashlight at all.
Also really disappointed by the lack of puzzles and how linear it is so far, i don't know if future areas will open up and have actual puzzles but for now yeah.
Also lots of cats, there's a hub area where all the cats you found will end up there.

I won't say Callisto Protocol is a masterpiece but when it first released anons were seething about the combat. Have to take all reviews that complain abotu difficulty for any game with a grain of salt. The strict focus on inventory management sounds appealing to me. But Blooper is just okay and I didn't think SH2R was all that great (didn't even bother to finish it) so this will probably be a game I enjoy for around 30 bucks like I did with Callisto.

Clearly inspired by SOMA.
Holy fucking shit, the characters are fucking retarded and they never go straight to the point and will ALWAYS point you to talk to another character, who in turn does the same dance and spiel again. The game could had been fine if it was shorter, but it's 15 hours long filled with padding, no enemy variety and reused bosses.
It's a 7 if you are feeling mightly generous and the only thing about it is that it's slightly better than Calisto Protocol. Blobber will get fucked this time because of Silksong.

They couldn't even milk SH2 correctly despite having the literal blessing of Konami to remake it. And this isn't even that farfetched of a criticism. Bloober did the same exact thing in SH2. You had to smash walls, cart puzzles, put your hand in holes over and over to the point of tedium. They don't understand how to spread out their ideas evenly. They don't understand pacing. Walking up walls with the anti grav stuff is cool once maybe twice, but when you do it again and again it loses it's mystique. Now apply this to their combat system in Cronos. The same problems that made SH2 tedious with the repetitive mannequin encounters that stalk and jump scare you again and again suffered from the same monotony Cronos does.

Sure but several of them have some nice and unique upgrades or abilities that you can get later on, for example The pistol can get a health indicator for enemies that you install on the gun, so you can see how much health an enemy has left when you aim at them based on the light color, or for the assault rifle type, you can get a mod for it that lets rounds lock on and follow enemies like some kind of smart bullet.

It actually makes it feel more impactful and chunky, and it ties to the survival horror gameplay pretty well in the decision making, do you run away to a better position so you can charge safely and do more damage or do you quickly fire at the expense of ammo, its especially tense when an enemy is close to you and is attacking and you're charging and you don't know if he's gonna hit you first or you're gonna hit and stun him first with your shot

Making the rest of the fire mechanics in the game basically obsolete since the enemies of the game are bullet sponges. You are wasting time and ammo in using anything other than the charge shot meaning it becomes more of a necessity. The upgrades you mentioned don't do a lot to remedy the issue of the enemies feeling too tanky. They all feel like when you turn the difficulty up on a game by just giving more health to the enemies. The enemies melding together is a good idea in concept, but they don't go far enough with it in gameplay or narrative. Which by the way, the narrative has awful pacing. When the game is broken up with walking sim sections that display a surreal environment, I can't help but feel reminded of Ubislop games that make you walk with a character at a slower pace for the sake of the narrative. It isn't very engaging and outside of the admittedly enjoyable environments is otherwise dull.

What do you want me to elaborate? Everything at the end just sort of falls into itself, the story doesn't wrap up in a very thought provoking manner. Bloober loves to use loops for their stories, but you are telling me by their what is this 8th game? They can't use the time travel or looping mechanics in a unique way for the gameplay or story? Even OOT does more with the time travel mechanics and the game is 30 years old at this point.

I agree with you here. The one thing Bloober does better than anything else is create unique enviroments. That being said, this comes with the cost of a repetitive walking section (see above) or mediocre shooting sections. I didn't even really like Signalis, but I feel it did better with weaving the narrative into the environment.

And despite what I said about the environments being nice, the game is brown all over. It's alot like a 7th generational game, I think that's why I was so disappointed with it. SH2 demake had issues with atmosphere sure, but it was mostly pretty. Cronos doesn't do a whole lot to justify its meandering despite how nice (some of) the locations are. I am not invested in the monotone characters or the flavor text either. They couldn't have made The Traveler any more bland. I understand the developers are from Poland and there is a whole stigma about them being cynics, but this game couldn't be even more stereotypical. And don't get me wrong, I love a grimdark or cynical/pessimistic game. But there has to be a driving force behind it. Much like most Bloober games, they don't seem to be going for this for any other reason than to be just that. It feels like a husk of a game from a husk of a studio known mostly for generic walking simulators. They have yet to create a fun and engaging combat loop or intricate well crafted story despite divesting so much time into the "complications" of it.

Its fucing great imo. Ammo & Med kits are scare as fuck, you have to kite and shoot well and the atmosphere is pretty neat. Also the whole body horror/apocalypse/weird anomalies stuff is also done well. Shooting and mechanics are pretty barebones and reminded me of the OG RE games
