Only if someone reports it. I've encountered full on orgies in public bar worlds that had the fig leaf of a bouncer asking for age of date of birth.
The devs explicitly put a sign on loading screens that says, "what goes on in private worlds is private". They don't give a fuck now that they've implemented the (optional) age verification system and whatever furry orgies and lap dance worlds that pop up are age gated.

I expect it to do things correctly
>Controllers can pair with the headset or with the PC
>Tracking can be inside-out from the headset or with the lighthouses
>Proper USBC + Displayport cable, not compressed USB streaming like some kind of hooligan
>Headset is not running a locked-down Android spin and you don't need to hook up a PC to escape the walled garden, possibly even a Linux system like the Deck
>Not a cutrate headstrap that needs to be replaced as the first thing you do, like you're on some budget airliner
>As a far removed possibility the headset isn't stuffed with a proprietary computer and battery, but can instead just werk with wireless, battery and/or compute modules that aren't strapped to your head, so you don't have a bunch of components that need to be exchanged every couple of years tied to a headset that will continue to be pretty good for the next 10 years. There's a few wireless add-ons for Index and BSB, but they're overpriced vaporware.

The Steam Deck proved just much developer support they can get due to the overwhelming amount of customers they have. They've also finally proven themselves that they can properly support a device unlike previous attempts. Basically, I would expect another Steam Deck situation. Valve/Steam has become a powerful and trusted brand. There are people who would be willing to try out anything Valve pushes out. Steam Deck people are also likely to give it a shot. Devs will likely try to cash in on the initial hype/release of the Deckard and have games ready to go. A snowball effect for pushing VR games. I don't expect it to go full mainstream, but I do expect it to make just as big of waves as Quest.

I believe steam datamines have shown that it's basically a Steam Deck for VR. A standalone headset that can also properly be wired up to a computer. Last year they updated Steam VR to have the same UI as the Steam Deck. There's a mock up for the controllers based on datamined or leaked info that basically shows they intend to be fully featured so that anything you can play on the Deck will also be playable on the Deckard.

UEVR is at least showing off how simple it would be to port more games into a playable state, so most of what they'd be doing is leading horses to water, same as they did with Proton and DXVK.
The bottleneck will always be that not even flat consoles are releasing any games, basically the same thing that sunk 2010s VR.
It's a bit of a shame that the 2000s were the decade where VR was in a total lull, since that was when there actually was an overinflated games industry that would have jumped on it.

And I bring one end as close as possible to the fake environment window. Curve it a bit and it covers basically the whole thing. The for wallpaper engine is zoom out and change the position to 60 which moves everything to the right so I'm only using half of that monitor. I only need tk do that because actually super wide backgrounds are rare. And I use wallpaper engine because theirs are dynamic or video wallpapers. They're even audio responsive which makes it even cooler. And it's only like 5$

You haven't tried it. The upper body estimation is extremely good. You can forward the data with virtual desktop and it all shows up as emulated vive trackers in steamvr.
In fact since the cameras can almost see your arms and shoulders it really helps when your hand controller get occluded for example if you're reaching behind since the upper tracking + imu work in tandem to do a better estimation.
Anyway we both know it won't happen anyway but it's technically possible. Some furfag trained a model to use 4 webcams on PC covering a play area to do full FBT without having to put on trackers with really good accuracy as well.

you need compression and foveated rendering for extremely high res vr headset regardless, there is simply no option of rawdogging 5000^2 per eye at 90+hz like a retard
the future is behind software encoding though, not the off-the-shelf garbage like HEVC or AV1 etc, they are designed for bandwidth saving first and foremost.
we are not really bandwidth limited for wireless PCVR streaming, 1gig per second is easily doable for wifi7, so the design tradeoffs are different

Internet speed doesn't matter. You dont "need" a wifi 6 router but you'll be glad you spent the extra 20$ over a wfif5. (Wifi 5 gets max 1200mbps on quest, wifi 6 gets max 2400) for almost double the speed. The reason you "need" a dedicated router is if your wifi is sharing the channel with any other devices it will cause noticeable lag. But if you can seperate channels you can save the best one for the quest and it will be fine. The isp provided wifi is usually mesh and mesh doesn't work unless you can restrict it to just 5g or 6g. But that will lock out older devices from connecting to it since they are 2.4g. It HAS to be wored to the pc with a cat 6 ethernet cord. (The cat type is only relevant if the isp set it up a decade ago and never updated the wire). This solves almost all issues with vd, airlink or steamlink

I prefer the smaller one with the orbs, better control. Feels like a top notch blow job. Expect to replace then after 6 months, tears will ruin in. in fact it's quite a lot lower. 720p TV has the horizontal resolution of 1280 pixels. Divide that by how many degrees of your vision it covers, that depends on how big it is and how far away it is.

Let's say 40 degrees as that's generally the recommended value. So 1280/40 = 32 pixels per degree. Quest 3's PPD is 25 in the very center and around 19 on average. So it's more like between 480p and 720p in the center and 480p on the edges.

[ adding stereo3D to DX11 games ]
any DX11(most PS4 era titles) could easily be converted to Stereo-3D using "geo-11" which is like the upgraded version of Nvidia-3D-Vision. https://helixmod.blogspot.com/2022/06/announcing-new-geo-11-3d-driver.html

[ adding 3DoF-VR to DX11 games]
for any DX11 FPS/TPS style game which you can move the camera with your mouse, you can also add head tracking with another app called "Open Track" to convert it from a Stereo-3D to a 3DoF-VR experience.
(You might need to add a camera FoV mod using something like Cheat Engine.)

[ VR mods ]
You can use VorpX (paid 6DoF-VR mod) for most of the AAA titles.
just don't play the online mode(multplayer vs/gacha/MMO), while using VorpX because you could be banned.

for RE Enigine titles,(RE series, Monster Hunter, DMC, SF6) just use REFramework.

for UE4/UE5 games, use UEVR (VorpX also works for old DX11 titles) with UUU and Cheat Engine to slowdown the game speed.

Bigscreen managed it by literally making a headset that removes EVERYTHING that's not strictly required for virtual reality and offloading as much as humanly possible (They were going to shove the dongles for the controllers in the link box at one point, something that's ACTUALLY nothing weight wise) in order to make it happen. You're not going to have a standalone HMD that competes with a competent VR setup, standalone or proper PCVR, trying to shoot for that kind of weight. The batteries ALONE will kill that prospect immediately.
You can get close if you're not a retard and understand the necessity for physically offloading the processing and batteries to a hip mounted puck thing that gets cabled to the headset if you must have le standalone, but that's the only way that's happening.

For third person or walking simulator type narrative games maybe the unity injector. Its nowhere near the customizability of uevr so its why I'd limit it to those games mostly.

Yeah, that doesn't exist.
Good shit is either long out of production (Vive Pro Eye + Vive Facial Tracker, Quest Pro) or you do it yourself with EyeTrackVR and Project Babble. Everything HTC has currently (Vive Focus Vision, XR Elite with the adaptor (Good luck getting a hold of those)) is dogshit in their own special way, facebook don't have anything filling that market, and nothing else currently exists.
Technically the Bigscreen Beyond 2e is being shipped now, but the eye tracking with that isn't even finished software wise, both officially and the eventually superior hobbyist equivalent with Babble and/or EyeTrackVR.
Guess we have to hope the Deckard (Steam Frame is such a retarded name) is halfway decent and slap a camera on the front for Babble to use.

Forgot the PSVR2 exists, but the drivers are being developed by a braindead zoomer type who doesn't know the definition of work ethic, only reason why it even has eye tracking currently is because shit had to be leaked after 4-5 months it was shown to be working fine and force his hand to actually get shit out the door. Doesn't even have proper eyelids (on/off blinking only) for social shit.
Which you'll still need to strap a face cam onto to be full face tracking.

It is, kinda.
It's a limitation of Sony not paying the loicense to Tobii for full eye expression with their software stack, so you only get gaze, bool blink, and pupil dilation, and hacking around that is 'apparently' impossible.
But hilariously, the pupil dilation is supposedly so shit you can reliably estimate how open the eyelids are with how much jitter you have with the value it gives, which is being worked on currently.
But again, being developed by a braindead zoomer type with no work ethic, so who the fuck knows if that'll actually be released in a timely fashion, if ever, and not ignored behind other features no one asked for.

The idea of the Deckard or whatever it ends up being called is to not only be a standalone headset like the quest, but to be an all in one general gaming device.
There's references to the cinema mode that you get put into when you launch a non-vr game having an automatic 3D screen conversion, so that you can play flatscreen games in stereoscopic 3D. The controllers are designed to have all the same inputs as an xbox controller so that you can play any flatscreen game on a virtual 3D monitor, but the controllers are still separate so that you can use them for actual vr games with the same layout as a Quest controller (Up and Right on the dpad being Quest's Y and X for example).
They essentially want it to be a Steam Deck with a virtual screen that can also play VR games.

Throw me some suggestions because I tried playing games like RE2 VR, and it was one of the worst experiences - Vorpx levels - that I've played in a while. The integration feels paper thin with motion controls, I might as well be at a desk with a keyboard and mouse. You can't even manually reload. It's gotta be the PC VR experience because on standalone:

Doom 3 VR on Quest 2 (beef team mod) is extremely good, will probably play Doom 3 completely in VR (never finished the OG game).

I am looking for Resident Evil 4's VR (the quest 2 version) equivalent in terms of modding or gameplay, maybe a notch or two below but that's what I want, anything close to this where VR almost completely changes the experience into something familiar but fresh.

>The integration feels paper thin with motion controls,
That's the problem you will run into with most games because they aren't officially developed in that way. The only way you can make a VR game feel like it was developed with these controls ind mind if you make a separate build.

The best example i can give you of a game of where it feels like it's almost native is Subnautica Submersed VR mod. Or if you're asking for UEVR specifically check out High on Life with 6DOF and the arms mod. Of where you have actual arms attached to your control points. It all depends on what people have done with each game specifically, some are better than others.

Right now i think Witchfire's profile is getting to the point of good but still needs more tweaks, i haven't check for a few months but the profiles get updated. Borderlands 3 is actually very good and you should try it out. But no arms on that one unfortunately.

Ready or not just got a blessing from devs so I think that means anti cheat is no longer an issue there. The silent hill remake. Void breaker. Palworld. Aliens fireteam.

A 3d vr view is enough for me to be willing to spend money on it otherwise I'm not even interested in flat games. Due to that i pretty much only consider buying new unreal games. Unity games unless there's a specifc mod for them I add them to ignore. As well as any anticheat games so most live service is automatically out for me. Yeah, there are modders (Preydog), yes, they are functional, but you cannot do nearly the same shit as the official VR releases from Capcom. You can't do manual reloading (it's just one-button and it plays the canned animation), the guns stay stapled to your hand, and there are no physics like in that gif where you can play around with it. It's way more fucking stiff, too. It still feels like everything is patched together with all kinds of weird troubleshooting issues, too.

Genuinely sucks to be in this state. It's a mod, but everyone is baseding out and throwing around words like "game-changer" it's all so tiresome. Doom 3 VR by Team Beef or whatever is pretty good but it still doesn't do manual reloading, and that's a project that's been going on for YEARS and changed hands many times. It's the best VR "mod" I've played that isn't by professional devs.

Half the time the HUD is broken, audio bugs out, cutscenes puke all over your headset, and god help you if the controls aren’t reboundable. You spend more time tinkering than playing. >and you need at least 2 cameras per eye
Only if we care about social shit with pancake lenses. If all you want is foveated encoding / rendering, all you need is to know where the eyes are looking. Not even independently, which means even if you loose visibility with one eye's cams because the angle's shit because pancake, you still have the other eye's cam.
Now for social shit with pancake, yeah you kinda need more than one cam per eye if you care about not loosing visibility of one eye and what the eyelid is doing on top of that for full tracking fidelity.

With aspheric or fresnel lens'd headsets though, shove a reflector in the eye tube angled at a cam inside said eye tube and you have a perfect head-on angle of what the eye is doing, no multi-cams-per-eye needed.

I'm saying that because I know what I'm talking about. I tested it myself. You can't lower the res of periphery that much, the shimmer is noticeable even at MSAAx2 at native res, let alone undersampling.
With quadview you also pay 2x vertex shader cost.
And the overall experience is going to be dogshit.

No fucking thank you, fresnel is shit, but pancake is its own flavour of shit. Yes, I like internal reflections with a side of surface-of-sun brightness and power draw being wasted with said internal reflections because "Oooh muh thin headsets" (isn't worth the tradeoffs). Aspheric is only a problem if your body hates you and you can't get over yourself.
Literally only Facebook are allowed to get pancakes close to right (and because lol popular option, so people have very warped perceptions of what they're actually like) because they bought out the company that make special lens coatings that make them not shit enough. Try pancake lenses on any other headset and the quality range is just as much as the quality range with any other kind of lens.

>uncertainty too high
Nah, you don't want the foveated range tiny regardless as that's going to look ass to look at, so you have required buffer room regardless. And as such, assuming your tracking is fast and accurate enough for any of this shit to begin with, that required buffer is going to be enough.

hard disagree, comfort is one of the main issues of vr
>Nah, you don't want the foveated range tiny regardless as that's going to look ass to look at, so you have required buffer room regardless.
reread the sentence if you didn't understand it, the "buffer room" needs to be centered at a point, the point needs to be accurate to the gaze location, otherwise you will have to increase the size of the foveated region even further or you will notice it
the bigger foveated region is, the smaller the performance gain or its supersampling level at the constant perf

you either didn't see what it actually looks like or willing to make tradeoffs which are simply unacceptable in my opinion, just like with the lenses

Exactly. People who act like dropping in a VR injector turns Witcher 3 into Half-Life: Alyx are coping hard. VorpX is a neat hack, not a solution. Immersion gets torpedoed the second your head moves and the camera does some janky 2D pan instead of true head tracking. UI floating in world space like a JPEG on a stick, cutscene FOV locked tighter than a PS2 game, and your inputs randomly rebind to "spin in a circle" mode mid-dialogue. No thanks. If devs didn’t build VR in from step one, the experience is always gonna be duct tape and prayer.

If UEVR and flat2VR wasn't a thing you'd might have a better point about buying VR means you just get a no games experience/scam because the lack of focused development from triple A. That is for actual designed from the ground up VR experiences. But now it's practically up to you to go seek out all the VR mods and what you make of the experience. It's easy to get lost in just how many games you can actually play from mods. It's not a scam, VR rocks even if it's uncertain state mainstream development wise. When all of you discuss your favorite games on here it's hard for me to explain to you that i played it in a completely different way than you did.
Like when people talk about cruelty squad, how the hell do i explain how i was playing it? it's different than what you're all used to. So it's strange when your experiences are not the tailored ones, and i like that about it. It makes everything unique even if you're breaking the rules of the game.

If we're talking about UEVR and HUDs you just don't use them or toggle on and off if you're not sure about stats. So i don't think it's an issue. I always play UI-less. I don't want a hud on screen and i only use it to read a story entry, check and objective, the map and so on and so forth when i need to see the key information. Otherwise it's just toggle off because i don't want to see it. The only time i will use it is when it is required. I'm not constantly keeping an eye on health, i subconsciously know all of my stats and objectives.
>You spend more time tinkering than playing
I spend time tinkering with all my flat games anyway. I've never seen that as burden when I'm changing things in .ini files all the time. Maybe just a matter of perspective. Consolefags call PC gaming in general 'tinker'.
