I've posted before, but I love the first 2 Xbox consoles, and it's really all because my parents switched dial up ISPs. They had AOL but MSN had a good price for a 2 year commitment and it came with a free Xbox. I was all over that system. So many good games, and a large chunk performed better than their PS2 counterparts. Of course I also missed out on alot, since the PS2 had everything and sold about 8x as much as Xbox if I remember right.
When next gen game, and the 360 was cheaper, and I could just move my Xbox Live account over, it was an ez pickup. I still think if you go by "game library" only, and exclude any backward conpatibility, performance and whatnot the Xbox 360 has the greatest game library.
And then the Xbone came and you just got... nothing. And then you continued to just get fucking nothing. You might get a big japanese release 3 years after it's PS4 release but if any console has nogames it's the fucking Xbox One. But I did get an Xbox One... to play Xbox 360 games better.
I'm a gaystation snoypony these days.

this console defined a large part of my life because of the social multiplayer it popularised. going to my cousins house after school to play halo 3 and call of duty online was a fucking blast. and then also the amazing games which launched that gen like assassins creed, gears of war, gta 4, mass effect etc. gta 4 had exclusive dlc on xbox and mass effect was exclusive to xbox which at the time i didn't even realise because i didn't follow gaming news that hard, i just had an xbox which happened to have exclusivity. i can't imagine how different my early gaming years would've been without playing xbox exclusives like gears of war, halo 3, gta 4 dlc, mass effect and so on. none of these were available on playstation or wii, at least not at launch.

It's entirely conceivable someone on the cusp of not being underage completely missed it being born around 2005-2008, making them only 5 to 8 when the console wasn't 'current gen' and making them anywhere between 17 and 20 now.

If you played games, you had LAN parties with friends. Matter of fact, that shit died out during the 360 gen because MS introduced a bunch of shitty business practices that were applauded by retards like (You) which is also what led to the current state of gaming
Even my uncles hosted LAN parties and played Soldier of Fortune and Age of Empires 2. They are turbonormies too.
This whole "gaming wasn't popular" is just some retarded cope from friendless losers

Itโs also about the experience, Xbox live was WORTH the 10.00 a month or whatever it was back around 2004-2008 of maybe 2010. But as Microsoft started changing everything and making new rules and such shitting it up it wasnโt as fun any more. Today it sucks.
The earlier Xbox live interfaces were nice looking and having a self contained messaging and voice message thing you could talk to people on was cool. you could download demos for games and generally on the 360 didnโt need to install games either, so you could buy and play a lot of used game from GameStop without needing to install games either and uninstall stuff like on a PC. It just worked and it felt lightweight and user friendly. in the first decade or so of xbl it was very easy to make friends in different games, and you generally would not get banned or reported for some argument which is why many of us have funny memories of hate mail or game lobbies with yelling and screaming. it was good at the time. Especially if you already had a PC you used for the internet but it wasnโt something powerful enough to play games on or didnโt have enough space to install a ton of games to. plus as we know consoles used to have many more exclusives.
today consoles kind of suck and I havenโt really enjoyed any of them since the 360. I have a Xbox one I used periodically but I only play maybe one or two games on it and the experience sucks. Today people donโt really talk and arenโt social in games either on console so the general vibe and atmosphere you came to expect if you grew up with them online has been gone for a decade.

On the original Xbox there are a handful of games that let you use custom music also, I had a lot of fun with the first moto gp game using music I liked such as linkin park or static x which was pretty typical of being a young guy in the early 2000s. I also liked the fact that when you crashed or fell of your motorcycle the music would hard cut off.

Rest of the games I don't know why you'd play on 360 in 2025 - stuff like Spec Ops, CoD, Doom 3, Condemned, Darkness 2, NFS, Prototype etc etc.

I camped out for a launch 360 and was able to get one. Was a great console and everything about it, feature wise, was perfect: Microsoft really did push what they did with the original Xbox in the right direction and remedied the issue of no developers. It was the best platform to game on and absolutely trounced the PS3 except for a few titles.
It was an extension of what made the previous gen great.

It was revolutionary but also quite shit in some aspects.
The good:
>Party chat so you can talk shit with the boys while playing whatever you want
>Community wasn't as fenced off as it is today with discord/skype
>Lots of games even if a lot of them were shit
>Not as much MTX bullshit but it was rearing its head in this era
The bad:
>Games that were released on PC and Xbox360 were always better on PC, but in this era you would straight up be missing most of the content in some titles. Take for instance Dungeon defenders 1 which doesn't have even a 1/4th of the DLC added to the game, TF2 never got updated but many people like it because of that, etc.
>They were prone to hardware failure
>You got to see gaming die in real time as the dashboard changed over the years, and while many people love the blades, I liked the kinect one as well, but then they started shoving ads everywhere.
Overall:

It was a sad time when a lot of devs were still ignoring PC. If you wanted to play fighting games you needed a console. Even games from EA like Burnout or Skate were never released on PC for some reason. It was a time when you needed both PC and a console to get the most out of video games, and while I never got my parents to get me a 360 I made sure I played plenty of soul calibur and burnout at my friend's house.

I'm assuming you mean Paradise? That has a PC version. I'll give you Skate.
GFWL was dogshit and PC gamers definitely had it worse during the 7th gen than in most others because of bad ports, exclusives and devs casualizing their games but at the end of the day you were still playing (most) of the same games at a higher resolution, better framerate and better online.

God tier if you softmodded the DVD drive. Games leaked before their official release date regularly so if you had a 360 you could play multiplats days or even weeks before everyone else.

It was an odd feeling for a while since basically no one was going to go out and buy a PS3 at the launch price, and weren't interested in a 360, because of a perceived lack of games. So I was basically the only one I knew experiencing the 7th gen. Even when they did eventually buy PS3s or Wiis, I swear it wasn't until the Switch that the people I know seemed to remotely care about downloadable titles.
>>719843108
There was also Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant (was exclusive for a few months before the superior PC version came out, still a console exclusive though), Star Ocean The Last Hope (had a year of exclusivity, PS3 ended up being better though), Magna Carta II, Operation Darkness, Enchanted Arms (also on PS3, but it looks better on 360 and had online MP, PS3 has some extra content though), and Resonance of Fate (also on PS3 but it looked better on 360). There's also Record of Agarest War (which had a physical release in the US, unlike PS3).

No one, literally NO ONE said this about XB360. It shitted on PS3 for the first 5 years and in the first year and at release it had a strong line up of options. Then the big 2007 and 2008 which pushed it further ahead of PS3 which was a n MGS4 machine at the time

>got a webcam, cant remember if it came with the xbox or not
>used to video chat over my shitty crt with a buddy who lived 9 hours away
>voice message kinos
>playing phantasy star online demo over and over again
>people were actually social
>leaving party chats to flame some shitter on our team
>xbox mic was miles better than the ps3 one
for some reason any time i ever heard a ps3 mic it was so sensitive that you could hear ants piss from the floor beneath you so every spic playing aieaiaeeai music was like ear rape.
>genuinely many good (and exclusive) games throughout the entire lifespan
the world was a lot different too in regards to how people treated online/irl relationships. and then microsoft went full retard with the naming scheme and to this day i still dont know the order of releases after the one. It felt like a supplement to life rather than a near complete replacement.

Eh, MGS4 and Last of Us were the only big system sellers. Everything else is pretty niche, as much as I like Little Big Planet. Yakuza didn't really get big in the west until 6/0 and the remasters came to PS4. I don't think the PS3 even got a release of Yakuza 5 in the US. Demon's Souls and God of War III are goated. Great games. Most of the best multiplats from early in that generation had the worst version on PS3, as did all the Bethesda games. There was really not a great reason to get one over a 360 and honestly I mostly used mine as a bluray player and to play PS1 games. Everyone shits on 8th/9th gen for good reason but I honestly think the PS4 was better than the PS3, even if half the best games are HD 7th gen ports.

Bullshit. The RROD was caused by a hardware defect which desoldered the GPU every time you power cycled the console. Every early model was doomed to RROD if power cycled enough.
