How the fuck is that supposed to work? Bond has always been about traveling. Flying, driving, fucking skiing or snowmobile rides. So far this game looks exactly like a Bond movie. Dinner parties, Hotel lobbies, rich and powerful people, guards in suits, and big action set pieces when Bond is eventually discovered and has to escape. A T rated mix between Uncharted and Hitman reboot.

I think we're in a strange industry limbo when it concerns game design like this
this is the sort of game that wants to be a late 2000's to mid 2010's linear action game but the way all the 20 year old college grads and jeets learned how to make games is for massive open world slop they train you for now
you can see in the footage we've been shown that areas are needlessly large and the parts you are actually playing in are strangely barren besides some of the cluttered indoor environments you're getting into heavily scripted fights in
their training tells them to make a giant gorillion square meter NINTENDO HIRE THIS MAN map that they're told is impressive and the industry standard when the game doesn't call for it so the game runs like shit and lacks any real attention to detail

I could see this game looking a lot less shit if it was made 10, 15 years ago when we had just the right level design scale to support it and make it look and play decent
it would still be considered mindless linear moviegame slop but these days even 7th gen linear moviegame slop quality seems to be hard for this industry of hacks to reach consistently

The existence of HUD elements instantaneously invalidates this mongo proposition. The biomechanics equivalent to what you are claiming is normal is keeping your eyes locked straight forward and never moving your eyes. Normal people use their eyes to scan things and don't move their entire head like a bird. Similarly they'll use camera movements to place the view around the area they want to view and then use their eyes to view elements the entire screen encompasses instead of flinging their camera around every time they want to see pixels not in the middle of the screen which would be inefficient for no benefit.

You cannot read your wristwatch with the periphery of your vision. Your eyes are only focused on a small area in the middle of your vision. You cannot read the clock in the corner of your monitor while reading this text.
I didn't make the analogy, but it is true that flicking your eyes to look at a watch is similar to flicking your eyes to look at a hud element. Both are something humans do instead of locking their eyes forward on one tiny spot and moving their wrist in front of their face to read their watch because that would be stupid.

Either develop the game as a gta open world where the player can win car chases in an emergent manner using map knowledge, driving skills, and gadgets or just turn it into a cutscene, because there's no point in mediocre driving gameplay setpiece if you have to follow a linear path or restart from checkpoint if you fuck that up.
the chased guy has no other outcome than arriving at the airport, you the player cannot stop him, catch up to him, outskill him, he won't get into an accident, or push his car to the point it breaks down, catch a flat and crash, run out of fuel, whatever.

What the fuck are you trying to say
The HUD elements exist on the blurred edges of the screen, so you can't keep your eyes locked in the center of the screen and treat the rest of it as peripheral vision, because it is necessary to move your eyes to look off-center at the HUD elements. Now that we've established that players will move their eyes to look off-center because that's how human vision works, there is no excuse for flooding where the players will look with ugly CA.
There is no distinction between checking time to time and staring constantly, in both instances you're moving your eyes to focus on what you want to see. This works the same regardless of if you're focusing on something for a split second or staring at it as you like to do with the middle of your screen. I assume you're using your mouse to move your browser window around to read this because why would you use your eyes when your hand can do the job for you.
>b-but the 3D background is blurry unlike the HUD elements so why would I want to look at that
Wow, great point, get rid of the CA.

Bond was a book and a movie saga.
There is no gameplay in a movie, the bond car chases are directed by a professional movie director, done by stuntment, pro drivers, have pros do special effect and are recorded and cinematic angles by skilled cameramen.
Games are about gameplay.
No game dev is insane enough to program exciting racing game into a third person shooter.
The boast in the verticle slice about different approaches on levels and then show off a driving section that drags on forever.
GTA did that often with bulletproof and invulnerable chase enemies as well because YOU SIMPLY MUST FOLLOW THE SCRIPT.
Could make it into a david cage styled QTE if you need some player input during the chase, provided it has different outcomes.

the HUD elements also exist in the middle of the screen or wherever they are placed. the point is that when you are looking at HUD elements you're not using the peripheral of your vision, you are looking directly at them. you're never meant to look at the hud elements with your peripheral despite them being in the peripheral vision zone since you are meant to move your eyes, and the elements being on the periphery of the screen are independent of what's actually on the screen at the time.

your eyes scan the center of the screen since whatever you're focusing is usually in the center. and i brought up the peripheral as an example of an exception. i believe i used the example of 3rd person peeking around corners as an example. yet in these games you have an offset shoulder camera with switchable shoulder that lets you always keep the target in the center of your screen even when you are hiding behind a corner. so the argument that you need to stare at the periphery in this game in specific rings hollow.

because the way i exemplified the periphery of your screen being used is the only viable way you'd benefit from it in a game like this. but it turns out that, as i explained, you don't have to resort to it since the game already has a built in system for peeking around corners using the inherent mechanics found in camera systems where the player POV is on an axis. in truth i should just have said that therer is no use case since this is causing more confusion than i anticipated.
>You do not stare at things with your peripheral vision and no one ever claimed that you do
neither did i. staring at the extremities of the screen is the equivalent of trying to utilize the peripheral vision for a specific purpose such as detecting movement. you don't use the peripheral vision in games as it turns out, neither do you stare at the corner of your screen unless it's to stare at HUD elements that are there, which is different from how your argument was intiailly about CA which is a screen vignette effect and doesn't affect the UI elements.

The way you benefit from being able to view all of your screen is that you are able to see things everywhere on your screen, you don't need special mechanics for that. You don't even need to move your hands. This is true for all games; you benefit from seeing more. And in the case of normal humans, this is achieved by a quick glance, you don't need to stare at anything. That's all it takes to register something in a different part of the screen, while you can position the camera in such a way that it gives you a view of a large area in which you are able to see if anything happens. The only time you need to use the center of your screen specifically is when aiming.
Putting aside all of your autistic fixations around playing games like a moron, this was all meant to be some kind of defense of CA, which in your special-ed use case you would never even see because you're never focusing on the corners of your screen so what the fuck.

Peeking around corners with over the shoulder camera perspective is preferable than using the edges of your screen. Even at lower FOVs you get distortion and the whole game being focused around hiding behind corners would mean you play the entire game looking at an area of your screen that is stretched and that would be unacceptable
>That's all it takes to register something in a different part of the screen, while you can position the camera in such a way that it gives you a view of a large area in which you are able to see if anything happens
and you can still do that, the whole discussion is about the edges of the screen where the CA effect is at its strongest and would limit your ability to "focus on things", the edges of your screen are the equivalent of your peripheral vision and you don't focus on things on it.
>Putting aside all of your autistic fixations around playing games like a moron
your autistic fixation on CA and how it's bad is the reason why this argument where you can't come up with any valid reasons why its bad exists. all the images you cited look fine to me. the edges are distorted but you're the one who insists they don't move their mouse while playing and that it's unconceivable that someone notices and focuses on something on the screen's edge and then moves the camera towards it to look at it closer.

I guarantee there's more, like pretending to be a security consultant, saying you got lost or turned around, asking for directions as if you don't want to be there etc.

Most likely they implemented some sort of advanced global lighting system like those in UE5. And it runs bad on consoles.

Chill, don't get your panties twisted, as a consumer I don't care the tools you use, just that it looks good at the end. Honest mistake on my part for thinking is the same when 99% of the issues appear.

I'm so tired of these fake games. The environment looks stupid. So there are castle walls and gates, then you drive another 1km up the hill to encounter a huge palace. Who built that shit?

It doesn't make any sense historically. The nobles were building neo-baroque palaces in the cities or villages in lowlands, not on top of the hill where there used to be a castle. And look at all that parking space around it. The original castle would have to be huge.

Yes, there are some modern 19th century castles on the hill, but those were romantic neogothic castles, not palaces. And they were extremely expensive, only fucking Wittelsbachs or Hohenzollerns were able to finance that. Who would pay for that in Slovakia?

They could have went with something like Bojnice Castle, if they wanted nice panorama. Originally a medieval castle, rebuilt in the 19th century in neogothic style.
