I spent my holidays in Osaka and the hotel I was staying in was right next to Shinsekai so I spent a lot of time there. I went to japan in december 2016 and loved tokyo, specilly akihabara. I was staying with my sister in Nakano and I dedicated each day to a different district. Three weeks in tokyo, i went like 7 times to akihabara, it was amazing.

The taito and sega buildings were good, but the best arcade place was HEY, they have the really cool shit there. I also managed to play Dissidia NT before it was released in the west.

I want to go back to japan whenever i have the chance, but this time i want to go to kyoto or osaka.

The best thing i got from japan was pic related in box, for 85 dollars

Tokyo is a big city in terms of pppulation, but it's also a very big city, in terms of area. Tokyo is special, precisely because it's incoherent. Even just using the most basic possible mode of transportation, riding the Yamanote line all day, you'll see vastly different towns and distinct places. While never really running into huge crowds most of the time, even during rush hour, precisely because Tokyo is incredibly big and not very dense.
Tokyo is a city that constantly changes, there's huge amounts of construction going on basically everywhere all the time. It's a place that is comitted to (and successful at) meeting demand.
In Osaka and the Kansai metropolis, the closest other analogue to (parts of) Tokyo, there meanwhile is no keeping with demand. Everything is underbuilt, there are not enough trains and there are huge crowds everywhere.
Kyoto is also an extremely different place, with very different problems.

Not quite. The percentage varies by arcade, but it's something like this:
>50~70% crane games (with 5~10% being mini cranes)
>10~15% purikura (photo booths)
>0~15% rhythm (family oriented places do not have them at all or just Taiko no Tatsujin, general ones have the usual maimai/Chunithm/Ongeki, big ones have DDR and many others)
>5~10% medal games
>5~10% slots
>0~15% video games (racing, shooting, fighting, kid games, etc.)
Cranes quite literally print money, since they can appeal to everyone and anyone, depending on prize. Purikura is more of a social thing to do with friends, or for female otaku - they do collabs with K-POP bands for example, where you can take a cute photo of yourself with pretty boys. Rhythm games usually have special controller types that no one but fans would have at home, so there is an incentive to go out and play at the arcade, although mostly teenagers and young adults do that. Medal games and slots are popular enough among the middle-aged and seniors to stay alive. Problem is the video games. Anyone can buy Strive or Tekken and play that on PC or console nowadays, so there's no need for people to go to the arcades. Driving games still have a niche, but even they aren't nearly as popular.
There are other problems with arcade business in Japan (legal ones, for example), but the contents are simply changing to accommodate the widest possible range of players.

Whenever I'm in Tokyo, I make sure to go to Akiba. It's still anime central, and there are still shops trying to scam tourists with DBZ shit at 3x the real price same as it ever was, but all-in-all I still love going to my Koto shop, Cospa, Jungle, Volks, Animate if you want recent shit, now there's a Mandarake and two (now three I think) Amiami. As long as you stick to the well known shops, you won't pay more than their website's offering.
Toranoana disappearing is a huge blow though. Akiba's Melonbook simply doesn't compare, it's way too small and cramped (but I bet it's an alibaba cavern in there, it's funny navigating between theses pile of doujins like I'm in an old shop from the 80's, but it's just too messy for me to find what I want).
Still, just walking in the shops and suddenly stumbling upon a Yuru Camp corner out of nowhere when there were no new season until the next year just feel so magical. With goodies that sometimes just make you smile because why the fuck don't I have my Yuru Camp stamped hiking gear already? With more often than not arranged in soulful display by the staff with little messages and drawings and cardboxes and shit. And then you look behind you and there's a Megumin corner all the same, all while Macross Frontier and Delta music is blasting through the speakers. Or fucking old tunes you played in motherfucking Ouendan. There's nothing like that at home. Sure, Akiba is not the same as before, there's now more merch for korean and chinese productions, but it still provides feelings that I can't find anywhere else. No, Osaka's Denden town doesn't compare, nor Nakano Broadway (but it's still cool to go if you need very specific shit for modelism or you're a kaijufag, or a densha otaku or whatever).

The store I went to was called Lovely Hand. It's a magical city, probably my favorite of the Japanese cities I've been to. I went for the snow festival last year and during a normal week several years ago. During the festival there are quite a few tourists, but still far less than in Tokyo/Osaka etc and being so far north half of the "tourists" are Japanese from farther South. It's a sight to behold. I also spent a lot of time wandering outside of the city center looking for cool games and old tech, grabbing beers or food or shopping wherever looked nice.
