It's more of a parody of K-pop than it is an actual movie about K-pop, so no you don't need any forbidden Koreaboo knowledge to watch it.

Not in my opinion, but plenty of people seem to like it. It's definitely the movie of the summer if you're a zoomer and pretty much the only actual pop culture phenomenon this year has produced on that front, so it's worth a watch to not miss out on it.
Also, there's no subversive shit in it, so it's not offensively bad as something like Barbie for example. It's an easy watch if you can get past the style/presentation and much of the Westernized Asian reddit humpr (which I could not).
