I'm an aspiring Mario loremaster. Ask me anything at all about the Super Mario World—or make your own assertions—and hopefully we can together come to a better understanding. By the way, I may use em-dashes and communicate in a stilted autistic manner, but I'm not composing my posts through an LLM! I'm a purely human guy and I can't wait to experience this thread with you all.

How do Yoshis and Birdos reproduce? Birdo from SMB2 is a trans faggot but they are a entire species, not just some guy. Are there both males and females for each species?
If Mario and Luigi found themselves into the Mushroom Kingdom from the real world, from where did Peach came from?
What about the other humans like Wario, Waluigi, Daisy and Rosalina?
Peach seems to have implied powers to create power ups and weak psychic powers due to how she floats and grabs a trophy from Mario Tennis. What's the cause of this?
Current yoshi is the same one from Yoshi's Island? If not, what happened to the old one?
Who's the mother of Bowser JR? Can Bowser reproduce asexually?

That's a great question. Itadaki Street is our best bet for ascertaining the fiscal policies of the Super Mario World's leaders, and Bowser's quotes are pretty overwhelmingly suggestive of a man who cares more about personal relationships with other characters than with the "greater good" of a stable taxation policy. Peach, for the sake of comparison, is suggested ("Do you expect ME to pay at your checkpoint, (Player's name)? Princesses never carry cash!") to consider herself above the indignity of surrendering wealth. Otherwise, throughout the Mario Party titles, Bowser is consistently depicted as an inconsistent economic "wild card", distributing wealth more or less entirely according to arbitrary impulses. You must consider that the abundance of "coins" in the Super Mario World may make the hierarchy, distribution and circulation of currency in each state completely conceptually distinct from our own.

>>720292350
There's little lore available on the subject of the romantic predilections of a Chargin' Chuck. If you assume that they are a subspecies of Koopa—we know from "Paper Mario and the Thousand-Year Door" that Koopa children are aware of and attached to their fathers (see "Korvallis")—and as evidenced by "Super Princess Peach", Koopas are at least capable of experiencing and expressing the emotion of anger, a Platonic "emotion proper", which by extension and in conjunction with what we know about their pair-bonding and child-rearing suggests they are capable of love—so I would conjecture that you could project very human emotional qualities onto a Chargin' Chuck to understand his (or, indeed, these days, her) approach to courting and romantic partnership. Hitting character limit now.

As a Shy Guy—pretty consistently suggested to be concealing a great shapeless inhuman terror behind the mask, but with living and thinking souls as suggested by "Luigi's Mansion", and sharing (perhaps natively) Yoshi's Island with the Yoshis—I would assume your OC would be at least partially, shapefully, reachingly human, enough for the very leastest aspiration to fickle human passion, a thoughtform capable of reflecting if not essentially perpetrating what beyond mere broad sapience defines human beings and sets them apart from the animals, and so capable also of courting a Chargin' Chuck in and with conventional terms and tactics. That is to say, somehow overcoming your shyness, as the forthright athletic Chargin' Chuck (which for all we know is just a physical/vocational (and therefore necessarily physical) classification of Koopa) would doubtless value similar straightforward self-assurance in his woman or girly man. This is beyond my remit as loremaster and I can only wish your OC the very best of luck. You may have to become a "Confident Guy", like a Bandit. Just don't steal too much or otherwise break the law! Sportsmen tend to hold regulation in high regard.

I personally subscribe to the belief that Birdo is either a figment of Mario's imagination, or an autonomous but no more tangible oneiromanifestation given confidence of form by Wart and conspirators. I don't believe in a Birdo race. I believe everything as presented in "Super Mario Brothers 2" is best interpreted according to Jungian dream analysis. In short, I am credulous and suspicious. Perhaps this is a foible. When Birdo shows up in e.g. "Mario Kart" or "Mario Party", I believe some miraculous process of thoughtform-realiczation has been undergone, if it (she?) is not shorthand for whatever it (she?) was originally intended to represent (though I am a firm believer in artist death and "Elder Scrolls" style democraticzation of fictionary understanding). From a strict "author-life" standpoint I must emphasise that outside of character-hungry spinoffs Birdo died a natural narrative death between Doki Doki Panic and Mario Tennis when Yoshi needed a doubles partner, which was the same impetus as birthed the abomination, Waluigi.
More importantly, I consider Birdo to be a male, biology and social gender aside. To the contrary, I consider the "Yoshi" character to be a female. I believe that male Yoshis impreganate female cloacæ with twin spermpenises, and all we run jump and shoot alongside in the "Yoshi" games are egg-laying female submissives. This would likely sap the sails of "Yoshi Haha" guys some, which you hopefully agree would be a good thing,

>If Mario & Luigi (...) Mushroom Kingdom from the real world, from where did Peach came from?
I subscribe to the idea that the "Super Crown" from "New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe" is a "crown jewel" of the Mushroom Kingdom that affords the inherently fungal monarch a humanoid form for the purposes of decorum (extensive to "reaching public expectation" as would be expected of a monarch of ambiguous but not-looking-good-for-democracy-guys power devolution). I believe furthermore that Italy is an extant country in the Super Mario World much as the Mushroom Kingdom is—pic related, with Italy on a peninsula south of the "Odyssey" Lake Kingdom and north of the Kremisphere & DK Island, a continent removed from the Mushroom Kingdom and other typical locales. I must emphasice that this image is old, perhaps outdated, and certainly not a final summary of total confidence nor accuracy.

>What about the other humans like Wario, Waluigi, Daisy and Rosalina?
Daisy is the ruler of Sarasaland, which per this albeit oudated map projection occupies the southernmost continent of the Super Mario World. If we are to assume a similar historical trajectory to our Earth, we must assume that Sarasaland is the cradle of Super Mario World civiliczation & so the birthing-place of humanity. Should Daisy not then be the exemplary humanoid of the SMW? Imagine the purity of bloodline in such a remote place. The incestual depths! It doesn't bear thinking about—let's glaze over it. Daisy is a native human, after whose race the Super Crown's approximation is surely based. Wario & Waluigi are of the same Italian stock as Mario & Luigi, emigrées to the Mushroom Kingdom & Diamond Island (which I see as a "South Korea"-type impotent foreign military launchpad allowed to spew its unimportant culture) from there.
Galaxy and Rosalina lore has long been one of my blind spots. I hope one day to be able to explain her story, but it's a faraway ambition. There's much to do more essential than that.

>Peach seems to have implied powers to create power ups and weak psychic powers due to how she floats and grabs a trophy from Mario Tennis. What's the cause of this?
In "Super Mario RPG", she has fairly inarguable psychic or magical powers. "Super Princess Peach", "Super Mario 64" and "Mario Kart: Double Dash!!" provide additional evidence. I am not convinced of the link between psychic and magical powers in the Super Mario World, unlike in our Earth reality, so I must regrettably leave that as a big and ugly Maybe. She's certainly some level above the rest of humanity and fungality, but to what degree I cannot say. There is a certain adherence to "fairytale" convention in the Super Mario World that could extrasensically justify the MK monarchy possessing such power, but that is a vague and arguably dangerous road to go down.
>Current yoshi is the same one from Yoshi's Island? If not, what happened to the old one?
I am fairly confident that the "Green Yoshi" character in "Yoshi's Island" is an ancestor, perhaps direct, of the "Green Yoshi" character in "Yoshi's Story"—possibly also depicted as starchild in "Yoshi's Island DS"?—who would then go on to star in spinoffs and everything-have-you as Mario's pal (as more of a contemporary than an estranged elder caregiver). Protracted study into Yoshi lifespans would aid immeasurably this area of conjecture.
>Who's the mother of Bowser JR?
According to classic fansite/magazine lore, Bowser's wife was named Clawdia (and his father, namesake of Morton Jr., was Morton Sr.). As we've established, Koopas are as a species capable of experiencing/recogniczing/celebrating the human equivalent-exchange of love, so there's no doubt in my mind that Bowser found someone (no doubt within the aristocratic cobwebs of Dark Land) to sire his children and serve as goodwife for life.

>Can Koopas make human girls pregnant?
Koopa penises do not appear—obviously directly but also symbolically/roundaboutally—in any of the lore I've studied, or for young people "content I've consumed". We've long since ITT established the capability of Koopas to feel and act upon love, but the physical mechanics of Koopa lovemaking remain a mystery. They are mostly bipedal, though, like humans and bonobos, so make of that what you will. If you're a human girl, I would not recommend lusting over male Koopas. Instead, would you consider lusting over human Mario loremasters whose only experiences with women have been unbearably cold and transactional? If you're a human man who is merely interested in Koopa/human smut, I lean towards denial—possibility of refutation—that a Koopa's twin-penis could fertilicze a human womb. I'm sure a human could arouse or excite a Koopa by physical means of arousal without relying on genitals. Who can say a kiss has never upped their hackles?

I have a small and neglected word document on the greater subject but most of my knowledge and conjecture is based on years of experience and memory engaging with the Super Mario World on gaming/literary/theoretical levels. The Mario Wiki is an invaluable resource, sullied though it is with fictional horse crap from the 1990s. I do intend one day to publish an encylopædia on the Super Mario World along the lines of "Hyrule Historia", but there's every chance I pass away in a freak accident or sad consequence of lifestyle before that can happen.

>After player builds a tax office: "Yoshi Yoshi? (Could I please be exempt from paying taxes, (player's name)?)"
That's really it. Itadaki or Fortune Street is the only time we will likely ever see the characters of the Super Mario World in a feudaloidal capitalocontext. It can be safely assumed that, in the absence of any kind of central government or (outside of the eternal question of Warp Pipes) infrastructure, Yoshi's Island (and possibly but less likely Dinosaur Land at large) is (or possibly but less likely are) has no formal policy of taxation, that being a compulsory financial charge imposed by a government on individuals and entities to fund public expenditures. If this charming primitivist lifestyle makes Yoshi loath to adapt to the regulations and standards of the Mushroom Kingdom as of his presumable emigration, who could honestly blame him? But at the same time, who would bother to kick up a fuss? Taxes are great and they open up possibilities that without taxation would be considered utterly unreachable but by extraordinary projects for the civic good.

Oh, gotcha. That's certainly a difficult knot to cut. Without crossing over to the subject of Zelda lore, which has its own technicalities, I tend to assume that all that appears in "Link's Awakening" is dream-stuff with dream-analytical bases. Things that appear in a "mainline" or "straightforward" Zelda, such as the Chain Chomps in ALTTP's Turtle Rock, or the adjacent Pokeys, or the Lakitus in "The Minish Cap", you must assume have a logical basis, though plurality of setting is implied by "Elvin" Gadd's intended "Starbeans Café" cutscenes in "Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga", and "Super Mario RPG" besides—to say nothing of "L is Real 2401" in Dodongo's Cavern, or the likeness of the Galaxy "HellValleySkyTree" fellows to the Twili—and, well, stemming from the very real solid heart-reducing presence of Chain Chomps inside Death Mountain during perhaps the most (Ocarina be damned) important moment (Imprisoning War) of the ludicrous "Zelda timeline", let us resort to the assumption that both settings are as real as each other. I'm a little rusty on Super Mario World (as in the world that Mario inhabits) chronology—but I can confidently shout you down that the European Super Mario World is NOT an unreal dream world, especially unrelated to the quintessentially Asian Wind Fish, and has nothing to do with Bowser's sorcerous ambitions, which I would venture go nowhere beyond the end of "Super Mario Brothers 3", when his offspring prove as incompetent at weaponiczing incredible magical power as he was in "Super Mario Brothers", to the point that in "Super Mario 64" he is resorting to inventing new, totally impractical and valueless worlds as elaborations of paintings.

>If Bowser is a wizard, how come he never fights with magic?
He's (I would argue) pretty clearly not an RPG-classic "fireball" wizard, but a sorcerer of unclear discipline or specialiczation. The ability of Koopas to breathe fire is ambiguous—is it endemic to Koopas? What is the nature of Yoshi fire breathing? What of Dino Torch? What of all those little guys in "Super Mario 64"?—and his ability to turn innocent peace guys into lucrative blocks is a peculiarity of his first (to perhaps third or fourth) foray into "Mushroom Kingdom conquest". Beyond that, what ability does he ever show? Mecha-Koopas are emblems of the late-Cold-War age of technological rapidswiftmovation than anything else, clockworkal though they might be. In Galaxy, he's just a guy with miraculous machines. Nothing beyond that, as far as I know, could suggest Bowser is a particularly gifted or skilled sorcerer.

>>720303028
>What's the lore behind Subcon?
Hostile takeover, a place and notplace in two places at once, Mario's dreamscape made faux-real, just (awfully) to target him. Thoughtforms who in a dream would be given no further thought warrant suddenly timethought from then to now. Let me ask you this—if you dreamt of Birdo spitting eggs at you, would you declare that this traumatic dream experience was a separate reality? Or would you consider the nature of Birdo's form & existence, to say nothing of what its eggs could represent, and do the necessary and undone-for-you legwork to reconcile this with the "real" (presumed) nature of "at large" Mushroom Kingdom will.
>Why did Shy Guys, Pokeys and Bob-Ombs later appear in the Mushroom Kingdom?
It's a really difficult question. I'd love to make a definitive thread arguing as to why this is. Maybe one day I can. Basically, Shy Guys are in an especially tricky ontological spot, liminal twixt existence and not—twixt the Mario "verse" of Neville the Bookish Father and the Luigi "verse" of Some Boo Who Likes to Appear with a Sporting Ball—

Here's where we differ, as I don't consider teleporation to be any kind of sorcery, but a creative application of natural laws. "Painting worlds" are a difficult area to be sure. Bowser is certainly a creative person and I believe some of the timeless memorability of the "Super Mario 64" courses is "down to" that creativity—I believe Bowser is capable of imagining such incredible worlds, Wet-Dry and Shifting-Sand in whatever imitation of Earth though however such are depicted in the previously posted "Super Mario World" atlas—but generally, to escape this line of questioning, I will boldly assert that the "painting worlds" of "Super Mario 64" are, all of them, exaggerations of the world around them, in which humans or more likely Toads toil to fix the plumbing and the relation of world to coczy navigation, or even Wario in the case of Wet-Dry World (I have had him since the revelation that "Wario Colosseum" is a nation-type patriotic excuse-circuit between Cities and Rainbow Roads down as the man it makes most sense to troubleshoot the issues of "Life Downtown", where the firestarters (twisted firestarters) are submerged and it takes a lot of concerted and trouble-making swimming just to reach the damned place.
I believe selkies exist. Whether they would necessarily figure into the system of submerged "downtown" Wet-Dry World society is hopefully irrelevant. The selkies of my concern filter long away into the minutiæ of history and existence.

The "Koopalings" were a sevenfold attempt by sorcerous Bowser to split enough of himself out to an independent life-form that could carry out his will independent of his own continued safety or existence. At war the conventional succession of things or people is generally suspended and so with such power at his fingertips can you blame Bowser for wishing to engineer his own ideal succession? As it is presented, I could not really claim with confidence that Ludwig has any seniority, as he is the "biggest" (but for Roy) and "last" (but for Larry) but (like the rest) has no characteristic jenesaisquoi setting him apart from the rest but for his shock of hair (which from Bowser himself we know to be irrelevant, as when has Bowser's auburn ponytail ever served to indicate a single thing about him?)
The "Koopalings" I consider indistinct aspects of a single and infinitely reflected avatar, whose form was perfected in the spawning of Bowser Jr., and whose substantial nadir must absolutely have come in the shape, form, and time of the "Mario Party" Koopa Kids.

You're an insane guy for whom I have no respect. I'd prefer you to be run down by beasts. If you died horribly it would make me smile and my "job" a lot easier. You think the fucking cartoon is worth a moment's consideration? If I did a shit and I told everyone that the shit was an official Mario shirt and you could see the Princess and Toad if you squinted, would you venerate that shit? Absolutely, yes, you would. I hate you more than the worst people in the world and I pray that you are one day flattened in an accident or executed in a diplomatic mix-up that would ultimately be seen as a mercy rather than miscarriage. Until then I will imagine your violent death, preferably by the continuous insertion of dog shit cartoon cels into your mouth.

Who's more powerful, Mario or SMBW2 Yoshis? One of those regular yoshis has a moon defeat, and the green one defeated a giant baby bowser by throwing big eggs at him. But if yoshis are that powerful, how can they be so weak afterwards to be easily trapped by Bowser and need help of Mario? They can't even enter Castles and Haunted Houses anymore.

This leads me to think. If Mario and Luigi, and even Wario and Waluigi never appeared in the mushroom kingdom. Could Yoshi had taken Mario's place? He was playable in mario 64 ds and if we ignore the gameplay restrictions, I can't see why couldn't he defeat bowser on his own.

"Sorcerous Bowser" extends only to his creation of the "Koopalings", and hopefully pales as intended with attempts to extend that predilection (or specific study) to a general and overwhelming magical superiority over the natural order of things, which Bowser tends to respect and work with.

The gamut of Yoshi power/boldness is interesting to the max. Perhaps I'll make a dedicated thread on the subject in the future. I'm quite interested in the nature of the ghosts in "Yoshi's Story" (see "Blargg's Boiler", "Bone Dragon Pit" and "Ghost Castle"). I would conject that aulder Yoshis (i.e. those in their adulthood as of SMW2YI) would be more tribally/"unciviliczedly" courageous, and those hatched in time to participate in "Yoshi's Story" would be bolder from untempered animal out-the-egg forwardity and unconsiderated meditations on the future of the race.

Yoshi is certainly the most capable "hero" in the Super Mario World with Mario and Luigi out of the picture. He has trouble with certain martial feats, compensating (arguably "over-") with athletic and genetic ones—but who's to say they wouldn't trust the modern adult Yoshi to sort everything out? Brrrr, hmm wah prack, indeed! What Mario provides in his adult years is the thrusting urgency of the human soul, and its desire for connectedness, which Mario may have experienced from his upbringing as a wayward human son of the tribal island Yoshis but would likely end up most resolutely divorced out of and away from.

Frankly—who else can flutter jump, and lick at platforms for stability, and sniff out secrets like a Yoshi does? Nobody but a Yoshi does!

As for the Dinosaur Land saps—nobody is really to say that they were all Yoshis. If they were, whose fault could that be anyway? And if they weren't, then they weren't even Yoshis! So stick that in your pipe and smoke the fuck out of it.

I have to go away now. If the thread lives thru the night, so be it! If not, so be it! I had a wonderful time puzzling out the intricacies of the Super Mario World and I hope everyone felt a similar thrill on reading. I'll make another thread some other time, when we're all a bit older and wiser, and hopefully we can all be one step closer to a comprehensive and systematic understanding of Mushroom Kingdom or just Peachical Beachical culture/society/pipelayage and so on. It's so important to the continued existence and perceived power of an authoritarian sports body among democratic Western legacy bodies. May we all keep thinking and writing. I'll put to you a final question in case I'm not able to return in time to salvage the thread:
What, if any, is the link between this book, the Dark Prognosticus, the Super Mario 64 Bookends, the Noki Bay Book, and Bowser's "book on 'bad'" as described by Basement Walltoad?

>Birdo from SMB2 is a trans faggot but they are a entire species, not just some guy. Are there both males and females for each species?

I can answer that, there actually isn't Birdo as a species. Yes, in spin-offs they've been known to show multiple Birdos, either as background characters or playable, but those games were developed by third parties, not main Nintendo.

Take Mario Kart Tour for example, in that game the naming convention for character alts is pretty particular, you have for example:
- Character (Descriptor)
- Character in an alternate form, which has its own naming convention
- (Color) Character, which belongs to a species where there are multiple of said character

So, let's use Mario for the first two examples, there is just plain Mario as the base, for the first example you could think of something like Mario (Chef) or Mario (Musician). As for the second one, think it like the main series powerups, Penguin Mario, Tanooki Mario, Builder Mario, etc.
Now for the last one though, it's where things get interesting, this one is for the characters of a species, think Toad, Shy Guy, Yoshi, etc. The characters you end up getting are named Blue Yoshi, Purple Toad, Green Shy Guy, and so on. Keep in mind though, that these category can actually combine with the first one, so you can end up getting alts like Yellow Toad (Pit Crew), or Red Koopa (Freerunning)

Why am I mentioning all of this? Look at pic related, notice how it's formatted. If Birdo was a species, it would be Light Blue Birdo, not Birdo (Light Blue). This is not a naming convention unique to Tour, it carried over to MK8 when Birdo got added as DLC, so it's not a one time thing.

More over, in latest games they seem to have gone further into the idea that there's only one Birdo, in Strikers Battle League you can use multiple of the same character if they're part of a species, you can use multiple Toads, and Shy Guys as well.

...But you cannot use more than one Birdo per team.

Now, why would they do this, why a retcon like this? Well, Birdo's Japanese name is Catherine, so it would be weird that such a proper name was the name of an entire species, for example. But I'm willing to go further, and claim that there was only meant to be a single Birdo all this time, my evidence for this is Super Mario Advance. We all know that Advance has pretty infamous voice clips, Birdo even says "This is as far as you go!" when you first meet her. However, when you meet the red and green Birdos later in the game, they might say "I'm ready for you this time!". "This time"? Why would she be saying that if this would be the first time you're meeting that particular Birdo? No, I think that there is only one Birdo present, at least Nintendo intended it that way, and for some reason she has chameleon-like powers so she's able to change the color of her skin. The games that showcase mutiple Birdos are spinoffs where communication with Nintendo themselves may not have gone in clear detail of how Birdo should be handled as a character, thus they just assumed it was like Yoshi.

Luigi has the designated green color. It might be related to Farore who's the Oracle of Secrets, therefore the most mysterious and empress of them. remember,

>Pokemon Green = Bulbasaur, canceled in the US, most mysterious aura mon
