Hello! Today I'll be teaching you how to use the "sage" function.

This feature allows you to post a comment without bumping the thread. You do this by typing "sage" into the "options" field of your comment.

Now, you might be asking yourself, "Why should I do that?" Well, using sage lets you post in a garbage thread without bumping it, so it'll hit page 10 and be deleted sooner. This makes the board a better place.

The word sage is not pronounced like the plant, but instead as "sah-geh." This is due to its Japanese origins; it comes from the word sageru, which means "to lower." It was adopted for use on 4chan, but since it's no longer possible to see when another Anon is using sage, the use and knowledge of it has quickly dropped.

This is exactly how you do not use sage you newfag, saging has the exact same effect as simply not posting in the thread so going out of your way to post just to sage achieves nothing at all, it was supposed to use as a courtesy thing to not bump a thread if you weren't giving a meaningful reply but it was never ever used properly and was always utterly pointless other that to let faggots pretend to downvote as if they were in reddit.

Every time I see someone with Sage in the name field I stop and report them because it's an easy and swift public deletion. Literally the only posts I report.

If you've browsed here longer than a week you've seen plenty of newer posters try to make earnest threads that immediately get ignored/archived for not being bait or porn, so they make a follow-up thread to complain and signal their departure out of frustration. Most of them aren't even going to do that and will just stop posting without the histrionics.

Attention has been monetized even here, where there is no direct financial incentive, because of the brain melted schizos and trannies who thrive solely off the attention they farm. People forgot the age-old adage of "don't feed the troll" and MUST virtue signal how much better they are than everyone else by waddling into a thread of shitposts to declare it low quality, or name the Jew or declare which political sphere is Over or Back that week. If it was treated as the banal interruption it is and not a personal attack, we wouldn't see it anymore.

It's how we killed tripfags and it's how you starve any other meme (or grow it). I watched "20 year old boomer" become a thing in real time because it was so absurd a statement on its face that just saying it to open a thread got 300 replies, then it spread to twitter for the same reasons. Wojaks are now posted by companies like KFC, co-opting them precisely because they're what people use in memes now. If nobody posted or replied to wojaks or frogs in 2014, they would hold the same relevance now that Mudkipz or duckrolling does.

Ignore bait and garbage if you care at all, don't feel the need to shine a spotlight on it like you're doing some sort of civic service by making it the focal point of the conversation.
