What Time Stranger offers is not the bog standard system. It's common for JRPGs to have elemental weaknesses but those are spread out across various types that give and take differently. Persona has 11 types and enemies can react to each type with absorb/immune/resist/neutral/weak. Pokemon has 18 types with immune/half/neutral/double damage
Time Stranger has 3 major types and occasional subtypes
The 3 types will determine every battle because you can easily arrange your team to always have the ideal typing. Having a fight where you are a disadvantage only comes down to you not being bothered enough to go into a menu rearrange your team

How is it forced when you liked a franchise since its inception and yet they insist on having you focus on shit that happened in the very first few years. It’s annoying with Digimon because it felt like it dodged that pitfall only to willingly jump in it because it saw others fall in. People already LIKED stuff that wasn’t adventure back then. Why ignore all of that all the time. All it does is make Adventure call back lose its charm and be less effective each time. Seeing the 02 and Tamers mons hanging out in the digital city had more effect than yet another Omegamon cut in.

Hopefully the full version of the game makes it easier to manipulate your Digimon's personality. I like it in theory, but I'm not a fan of how random it's presented here, especially if most of your player upgrades are split across personality types.
