Because as much as Linuxfags like to act most people, not just normalfaggots, like to have a product that doesn't need the amount of tinkering that most Linux distros require. Yes, Mint exists and it's fine but even then you still need to deal with Linux's bullshit EVENTUALLY and still have to deal with the fact that Linux gets barely any support for a lot of shit people do or play on Windows computers.
Anonymous No.720413946 [Report] >>720433523
the more important question is, can you call "people" stuck on windows in 2007 + 18 the true gamers ?

I do. Why do you keep making this thread?
>>720413865
But yes, this is the reason other people don't. They got memed into thinking that interacting with a command line interface is equivalent to "coding" and they also got memed into thinking that you need a command line to do things that can actually be done entirely with a mouse on any modern desktop distribution of GNU/Linux. There are plenty of reasons for normies to stay off of Linux though, so I suppose it's just as well that they're so stupid as to mistakenly believe that "having to do everything on a command line" is one of them.
Anyway, shit thread.

>Linux is so good why dont more people use it?
>Why don't gamers use Linux for gaming?

Linux has the reputation in the general populace as being a very high skill/knowledge floor hobbyist OS. Very high barrier of entry and not a lot of compatibility unless you enjoy getting into the weeds (read: higher knowledge levels) of computing on the whole.

Basically >>720413865 , Windows and Macs have set themselves up as the better "pre-built" solution. Most people when they want to use a computer, they want to use it to do something, play a game, run a program, etc., not dev and troubleshoot the backend of the computer to make said thing work, which is what most people associate with linux.

Most people have never installed an OS before and will never will, they will just use what their PC comes with. Why would they change what they're used to? This is especially true for gen Z and gen alpha, having lower tech literacy than boomers.
Windows is completely entrenched in the PC space, and that will never change. It doesn't matter how good Linux gets or how bad Windows gets.

because shit don't just work. I installed mint a month ago because win7 is unusable and I refuse to use modern windows.
linux is great for browsing, ricing and light office work. but good fucking luck doing anything other than that.
I needed subtitle edit to ocr pgs subtitles. according to their guthub, the portable version works in linux. great, just install a million libraries from the terminal because I can't find them in the manager and... nothing works.
figured I did something wrong so I uninstalled everything and started fresh. except my package manager is now fucked. nothing is installing or uninstalling. sudo apt --fix-broken does jack shit as do another dozen different commands I found online. after an hour troubleshooting, I try chatgpt because why not and it recommends aptitude. fixed.
so I try again and... nothing. apparently I did nothing wrong, the program is just bugged to hell in linux so you have to take arbitrary paths to get everything set up. note that it comes preconfigured in win11.
so after half a day including a reformat, I got it working. something that would've taken me half an hour in windows, ocr included.
I'm not going back but this shit is why people don't use linux.

For games, the biggest compatibility hurdles are anti-cheat systems, especially ones that sit at kernel level. Most other games outside of that at the very worse uses some bullshit proprietary system that you have to patch on the windows version as well.

there's also proprietary codecs that require proton-ge to run or the fact that exe files can't be run natively like they can through windows. I mean you could technically use wine but good luck running anything actually intensive with that shit. Theres also rpgmaker games that straight up don't work for whatever reason and some more experimental games that rely on editing windows files such as Atopes or imscared which I am not confident will work.

Most modern gamers are underage, retarded and entitled; they are terribly frightened of having to put in any work or God forbid learn a useful skill. They want everything handed out to them in a silver platter and will gladly take Satya Nutella's cock down their ass if they don't get to actually use their brains for one second.
You only need basic literacy to get a Debian system with dwm that will use less than 100MB of RAM on idle, which is my setup.
My shitbox used to get around 17 to 25 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 when using Windows, it gets buttery smooth 60 FPS on Debian with umu-launcher. It's not even native!
The only reason one would defend Microshit in current year is because they don't know better, or rather, they don't WANT to know better.

the same rationale can be applied to mac users when talking about windows. For 99% of people, this is literally all that matters. It just so happens that Windows is the default operating system for almost every single consumer purchase, unless you go out of your way to buy a Mac because you're a faggot liberal on the west coast that worships Steve Jobs for some reason.
You have to go out of your way to use Linux, which means that the market for Linux is reduced to enthusiasts who genuinely care.
That being said, Linux is slowly growing in popularity purely because Windows is so disgustingly anti-consumer that it's just getting intolerable. And Mac operating systems have just never been genuine competition, period, especially in gaming.

>Reports have been circulating for the past few weeks that recent Windows 11 updates (KB5063878 and KB5062660) were causing some SSDs using Phison controllers to fail. While plenty of YouTube and TikTok videos have blamed Microsoft for the issues, Phison has identified “early versions of firmware and BIOS” as the problem instead.

>“Many of the reports originate from media testing conducted on hardware running early versions of firmware and BIOS,” says Michael Wu, GM and President of Phison US, in a statement to The Verge. “These versions are performance preview drives and are not identical to those provided to end users through official distribution channels. We have observed that outdated firmware is still being used on some SSDs and we encourage any reviewers facing this to leverage updated channel firmware readily available through manufacturer-provided update utilities.”

>YouTuber JayzTwoCents claimed last week that the “Windows update and SSD problem is WAY worse than we thought!” JayzTwoCents showed a Crucial T500 drive (with a Phison E25 controller) failing after Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 security updates, and needing a power cycle to come back to life. In a new video responding to Phison’s claims, JayzTwoCents reveals he was using a beta motherboard BIOS version, and upgrading the BIOS version fixed his SSD issues.
Debunked.

Linux fags are mentally ill. The OS is made bad on purpose just so people don't use it, so they can maintain their niche hipster community and jerk off over being a minority. They don't want the OS to be good.
To do literally anything on linux you need to have windows with internet access to look up commands.

If you want to install steam you don't just go to the steam site and hit download. You google search what command installs steam and make sure it's the right version and then you go in the terminal and type ''sudo apt instal_linux)(Steam15xnnV.1248a-64xI_am_a_tranny_linuxfaggot41%''
The fact that you have to write ''sudo apt'' before every action. The fact that you need the exact command to get what you want.

I really think that Windows users vastly underestimate how good Proton is now.
For like 90%+ of games you don't even have to check compatibility anymore, it just works.
This goes for new releases as well.
Chances are that if a game doesn't work on Linux the developers are actively sabotaging Linux users (kernel level anticheat).

I wait a couple days after release like you should do anyway to see if the game is even good in the first place. Seriously, don't tell me you actually preorder games regularly in 2010+15.
