It was discussed in the previous thread. It's Xbox new strategy. They don't want to make the audience think you need Xbox console to play Xbox games. Instead Xbox is now multiplatform service and it's pretty much just the Xbox brand and experience you buying into, not the console. If they only said on PC, most people would think of Steam. So now if it's part of Xbox brand too, they need to separate it with saying Xbox in PC

I don't have an issue with this as much as I have an issue with calling it progression features rather than cheats. Stuff like this always existed but it wasn't something you selected from a menu. You were very blatantly not playing the game by the intended rules. Semantics perhaps but I think it's different.
When I replayed FFX with the HD version I thought the QoL options were a neat feature. Turning off random encounters was good for when I just wanted to go save, for example. The thing I found is that once you use it once, it increasingly becomes your go to solution. Maybe someone will struggle with a boss and say "I'll just turn on 9999 damage this one time". And before you know it any minor challenge is undercut with "i'll just turn on god mode. I can quit the stuff at any time, man. I just need one more hit!"
At what point do they just get rid of enemies entirely?

FFXIV's last expansion had something like literally 4 fights that weren't part of the 6 15 minute dungeons/3 trials daily grind fodder cycle and the new single player games are headed in the same direction of having too many cutscenes to actually fit any enemies in so sometime in the next 10 to 20 years they will get there.

Literally Endwalker, Dawntrail, Rebirth and XVI's cutscene running time is longer than the playtime of any of the first 4 games in the series.

I think I died twice in the entire game: once in that underground tunnel section with lightning robots or whatever and then once on the motorcycle boss (lmao btw) because I was drunk.

I wouldn't call most of what was in Dawntrail story and I tend to believe that most games that have a non-interactive viewing time that exceeds a 52 episode anime series probably aren't much better. I didn't mind it too much in XVI. My main issues were the MMO-tier sidequest design (thanks Yoshi-P) and the horrific pacing. When you're cruising and leading up to the primal fights it's pure esctasy, but they'll nonsensically throw in 4-6 hours of bullshit menial quests in for no fucking reason and grind everything to a screeching halt.

Another problem is that you can't start the game in hard mode, and normal mode is obscenely easy, to the point where it made the combat a complete joke. I get that they're trying a new combat style for a mainline FF game, but they scaled the difficulty like the player was a lobotomized retard. Also when you actually get to NG+ they still force you to do all the boring fetch quests and skipping cutscenes is glacially slow. Just kills your desire to keep playing

MGS4 is ostensibly ~48.5% cutscenes while FFXVI is something like 53%. I feel like MGS4 wasn't even THAT bad for what it was because a lot of that is just the 1 hour ending cutscene which is trying to tie up 6 games of characters arcs and retcons and is actually being fairly efficient about it, and in general those cutscenes have a lot of action and actual things happening in them rather than being hours and hours of characters standing around and listening to boring lore and small talk that doesn't advance the story at all or matter 5 minutes after it's been uttered.

You both will get it when you grow up into men with a full life and responsibilities. I cant no life games for 8 hours a day like back in my 20s. I have personal and professional duties and goals that require time. Since time is a limited resource I must prioritize it. FF7 Remake is a bad example here since it was easy but a better example is Silksong. I beat it but I used mods like no walk back and keep roasaries after death, etc. I cheated my ass off and enjoyed it all in 15 hours and I bet you are still stuck on that gay sewer level boss.

Based.
I play video games to have fun, not test my imaginary """gaming skills""" that have literally no use irl and no one else but you cares about.

If you take a game and remove literally all the challenge from it, is it even a game anymore or is it an interactive movie?

You could just watch a compilation of Final Fuckstasy and get banging hot porn segments in between the movie segments and have a better experience than this.
also 9999 is by no means 1-shot damage. in FF7 you could slot up Materia linkages that would smash out 9999 hits and that's like tickling WEAPON's belly.
