So Whisper is supposed to be a Metal Gear references. A mix of Quiet and Fortune, being the sniper of a mercenary squad during the events of Sonic Forces called the Diamond Cutters (Diamond Dogs, get it. Their base even looks like Big Shell). Mimic who was the newest recruit of their squad betrays them to save his skin in the face of eggman. Lured them out to one of his bases and locked them in a room to get shredded by Shadow Androids. Whisper wasn't with the group as she's the one outside scouting the area. All of them have a special mask that records everything they see, so she had to stand by and watch all her team mates get ripped apart and since then she's be running from Mimic/feuding with him while being a solo op that helped sonic and his friends quietly from the shadows. That's just the origin story, what happens in present day is a different story

did a little reread at work today, read through Zeti Hunt specifically and I really appreciate them showing off how the Zeti function as a unit. They all seem pretty lost without his leadership. It also shows why Zik (old man) was the former leader.

Zazz and Zomom seem much more docile without Zavok around to motivate them. I'd honestly be open to going back to Lost Hex and seeing how their society functions. They bring it up in passing but it could be interesting. If anything, I do genuinely like Zavok and Crossworlds is making me appreciate Zazz a bit more.

Metal Virus allowing them to interact with others outside of Sonic was great. Cream and Zenna is probably my favorite. Sweet little girl vs bratty adult woman.

I think it's more that they don't follow the usual pattern of sonic design, they have fluffly fur instead of spikes, neutral colors, round angles instead of sharp ones and clothes with too much details.

While Surge and Kit, especially seeing that classic render feel like they really were designed with the game universe in mind instead of comic-only.
