The only systems that don't have perfect high accuracy emulators are the ones that are too complex to fit on FPGA anyway and rely on HLE.

when I modded my dreamcast. My gf bought a DC for me as a gift but it had a bad optical drive. I felt bad and wanted her to see me enjoying it so I snuck the GDEMU optical drive emulator in there. I was sort of enthralled by the passionate dreamcast community. Pros: Being able to play on the old CRT, being able to use the various VMU functionalities, easy 4player with no PC controller bullshit that ALWAYS HAPPENS when I have 3 friends over for local and we try emulating something. Yea its just a more authentic experience. Since then I just avoid emulation and do all my gaming on modded hardware almost like a self-imposed challenge. Its been good times.

I initially put some games on the USB and it worked, but I ended up upgrading to HDD since I had a fat PS2 anyway. I use an application called OPL but the community recently has a new better software that does PS1 games better.
even so, OPL is super super good and I can adjust resolution on some games and do cheatcodes and stuff (lizardman in SoulCalibur2 was taking way too long)

If you wanna stick to skinny PS2 there are guides out there for SD and USB, and with a skinny thats your only options I think but it might be ok.

This game is gorgeous and PURE. I enjoyed unlocking every character and thin kthe game is soul incarnate. I didn't click with me at first, like I thought 2 and 3 were better until i realized there is value in its simplicity. Guests I've had really enjoy doing matches of this with each other its like a real sword fighting game with less anime than its sequels.
Power stone is decent, its sequel is 4 players liek a smash or something. LOADS of shmups I dont play. LOADS of fighting games like too many. Standouts being the Capcom ones; TechRomancer and Project Justice and to a lesser extent Plasma Sword

yea PS2 got everything else now that i'm looking at it. Best version of some shit like Podracing, Spiderman, MK4, Gauntlet Legends but nothing worth buying a console for. Communiuty is cool they did some flawless NEOGEO ports recently.

Decomps are an absolute shit ton of work to get just one (1) game to compile, much less actually run without crashing, and even less when you demand enhancements.
The only games that might get decomped are cult classics or legacy titles of long lived franchises. You can scrape a team together to decomp something like OOT, but nobody is going to bother decompiling something like Phineas and Ferb for the DS.

Original and modded hardware is lots of fun. I’d probably get a mister if I was more into retro and didn’t already have consoles. That being said, emulation is excellent for convenience alone, besides a few exceptions.

While you're not wrong, people have to step up to get this done to begin with. For example, we have XenonRecomp now, and literally the only notable project we've seen come out of it thus far is Sonic Unleashed. Where's the ports of stuff that actually needed a PC port, like The Darkness 1, Lost Odyssey, or Gears of War 2-4?
Additionally, for the console we have more advanced autism behind, I'm still waiting for a Perfect Dark and Goldeneye 64 PC port with online multiplayer enabled since those games are begging for this, especially Perfect Dark with runs like even worse dogshit on original hardware + expansion pak than even Goldeneye.

Thing is, in the absence of a PC port, Emulation is just fine as a substitute most of the time.
