DQX's housing system has thousands of wards, so many that most of them are empty. Their auto-demolish is one year from last login and if it goes off, all of your decorations are put in a temporary safe storage and you're sent a voucher for a free house plot of the same size.

I stopped interacting with other players sometime after 3.0 ended due to a number of contributing factors: the draconian GMs who would suspend me at the drop of a hat for the slightest infraction, the increasingly hostile and vitriolic players who became less and less helpful/amenable over time, etc. If I cared that much about the social aspect to FFXIV anymore, I wouldn't be emigrating. The JP will not let you into their PF groups if you do not speak Japanese. If a player reports you for being a faggot, the type of GM that comes to talk to you is relative to your service account registration. I've interacted with GMs twice on Tonberry and both of them were North American / English speaking GMs. I'm not sure what you think you're escaping from, but moving to another datacenter doesn't just mean you're in a new realm with different rules, the GMs still act on harassment tickets in the exact same manner because Square Enix is the one that creates the rules for them to follow. The problem I have with this is that Garlemald, unlike all the other turbulent nation-states of Eorzea that WoL got to interact with was just killed offscreen. We know that the Populares had been politically influential enough to oppose or dispute the will of the Emperor without just being disappeared quietly and that Garleans did raise the standard of living in many of the provinces they conquered and that they also have a history of being fucked over by literally everyone and if it weren't for Solus, that is damn near deified, they may very well could have died out as people. Imo Yoshida was just afraid to give imperialists any credit at all, even if they existed to be a sockpuppet by forces hellbent on creating of chaos. Seeing how Garlemald could produce men like Regula, Gaius, or Gabranth, they were doing at least something right. I did read on JP websites that they were making fun of the 'Knights' saying they had no idea of the situation in the U.S. but their automatic reply is always, always to defend Square Enix and FF14 no matter the subject. It was at its best in 1.0 then progressively got worse from there. 2.0 was the best it was of the “new” era. 3.0 was decent and the new jobs were interesting. You could tell there was a drop in quality on gameplay in SB but nothing to major. Then SHB came along and literally almost everything about it sucked. The only thing i enjoyed that expansion as bozja and even then I was constantly seething about the job and system changes like the removal of tp, how dogshit the new jobs were, how they removed pets, how ast cards were deleted among other things.

This hits so hard as a Ul'dahn Lalafell.

Someone gave me full rune in OSRS recently on my newbie ass so that was something. To speak in particular about other gameplay, I think that Stormblood and beyond was a huge misstep as far as job design goes. The writing on the wall was when they forced jobs to be on gauges. Its like they saw it work for their new idea of MCH and wanted everything brought to that level. Shadowbringers is when I started taking breaks but I didn't uninstall until a month after Dawntrail came out.

I joined in 2.5 (which is a tourist according to mister high blood pressure) so I can't really speak to the 1.0 experience. The jist of my feeling to your post though is that where I can see and remember the negatives of removing TP or cross-class skills (no longer had to grind them up to get them and all) they weren't taking the game from great gameplay to terrible. They were taking it from milquetoast or semi boring gameplay to terrible gameplay. I won't dispute the game has gotten worse gameplay wise in terms of ease - I remember Ridorana and nasty rabbi on release being quite hard yet then in END having 2 of the three god raids (fuck the names) where on release day early hours it was a seamless no wipe clear. I remember Void ark being similarly difficult and I remember fucking World of Darkness being BRUTAL. I swore Angra Mainu had something where if one person (just one) fucked it up everybody died. I don't think that's the case unless they did some mechanic nerf since then but that death pie-chart move was vicious.

Where I differ is that I feel like the fundamentals of that gameplay were always very weak. So yeah the game has declined in quality and gotten too easy, but fundamentally the gameplay itself has always been a detriment and positive combat experiences happened in spite of XIV gameplay, not because of it.

I'll allow that might be relating to taste, but I just know that when that gameplay rote memorization was swapped for reactivity with deep dungeon high levels I suddenly actually had more fun and wasn't yawning nonstop.

All the hard work you put into your beautiful rotation, the positioning, making sure to use your ranged ninjitsu during certain boss attack windows, shukuchiing, raijuing - all of it has one simple result: the boss is more enjoyable for the party that will burst it in every hole.

Performed the perfect rotation? Great. Who benefits? If you're lucky, a random SAM or VPR who had nothing to do with your rotation commends you. He gets to fuck the boss every 60 seconds. He gets the benefit of your debuffs that came from the way you attacked the boss.

As a man who plays a NINTR, you are LITERALLY dedicating at least 20 minutes of your life simply to debuff the boss for another playing to burst. It is the ULTIMATE and FINAL cuck. Think about it logically.

You are learning, gearing and leveling a job to decent competency solely so you can go and buff the real damage dealers. To be frank none of what you said here is a good argument for anything. If those things are things that are badly implemented then you either improve them or replace them with similar more interesting systems. Instead their approach has been more to turn the game into a pve battle royale game where you choose a hero and you are simply being complacent.I’ll give you one basic example FFXIV desperately lacks. Typical MMO gameplay is usually very resource intensive because it wants to promote teamwork. However, FFXIV lacks any semblance of a resource, like it used to have TP and MP but the former was only lost if the character was hasted (fairy during 2.0 or an enhanced arrow card) or you spammed too much aoe while the latter could genuinely be overspent before while now it works more like TP used to be, very static and objective values. This means jobs that provide these resources cannot exist because FFXIV-devs goal is not for you to fuck up or for rng to fuck you up but to encourage you to play “perfectly”. Moreover thats also when it starts to feel like you are playing next to someone else and not with someone else. Everyone in this game follows a spreadsheet timeline to line up your buffs and if you swayed from it a little bit then its over. Everyone plays ensuring this spreadsheet is done perfectly. There is no paying attention to someone else to buff them at the right time or lowering your dps to help the tank get hate back or healing someone cause an rng undodgeable attack hit them or losing dps because you went too hard spending your resources.
