I did. I tried multiple times to try and get into it after winning a key in a giveaway. I just don't get it. I get the mechanics and the gameplay and stuff, but I just don't get "it", it doesn't click with me, I don't find it fun, I find it frustrating. I got a couple kills, and I would snowball, and that was fun, but then I'd just lose it all and it's like it never happened.

Also the bullshit about needing to play nearly every day or your skills degrade is turbofucked.

Three come to mind right now, it was some of the very first tasks in the game too. There was one about locating a broken down shack out tower on Woods (close to a crashed plane I think) and two about locating trucks on Customs (getting a key from one and planting shit for the other).
The quest text was just fluff without any practical info about the location, which would be nice considering there is no map unless you buy one and bring it in raid (nobody does that and as I said the task text often has no landmarks for orientation).
I only found the link of one of the three, Prapor just rambles like a boomer but provides no actual useful info:

Games like this can be fun but I can't imagine being a full time player for a game like this. I'd call myself a casual at these kinds of games but I like FPS games that have a cadence to them and aren't just balls to the wall every nanosecond. I can't imagine a genuine casual audience could ever form around such games.

It's just classic Wolf vs Sheep behaviors. It happens a lot in Full Loot PvP MMOs where the Wolves (coordinated and skilled players) feast on the Sheep (noobs, casual pvp players et al.). The problem with MMOs at least is because the world is persistent Sheep can't ever really catch a break and will eventually just stop playing. This causes the Wolves to eventually resort to feasting on other Wolves, which causes its own frustrations because you have to commit a lot more resources and effort to kill another Wolf. Eventually even certain Wolves will get frustrated enough that they stop playing and it just compounds from there until the game dies. At least with extraction games there are theoretical safeguards in place that let less skilled players thrive.

I was the filter for a long while. My favourite thing was wiping out some small time streamnigger's squad and finding the video of it and they broke down into arguing and bitching about whose fault it was (they deleted it later though unfortunately).
Eventually I just got sick of it though. It's a very high effort, high stress game to play at any level, at least solo.
I'll come back for 1.0 to see if anything's actually improved and to do the story, but that's about all. I might even do it in PvE.

I've been playing Arena Breakout and holy shit is it pointless to play solo. I *always* feel outmatched. It's nothing but campers in the early minutes of the game. You spawn at one compound and immediately get killed enroute to another by a sniper laying prone under an evergreen. Farm is the only reasonable map in the game because it's not just a dense forest for most of it.

It's a novel concept but it gets old pretty fast. The only thing the game really has for it is the insane risk-reward ratio which can lead to intense feelings that you don't really get playing other games (adrenaline dumps, legit apprehension and fear, euphoria). The only problem is the game is so drawn out you have to play it as a part time job at least if you want to progress. The retarded 10-20 minutes it takes to get back into matches, from re gearing and waiting in the queue, makes it even worse. That's probably the hardest part for me, the whiplash from intense fights to sitting in the menus and playing inventory simulator give the game a weird rhythm that's hard to maintain for long periods of time.

Yeah, it basically improves on everything Tarkov has but has less content and throws free money at you regularly. It also doesn't really change anything about gunfights but in a game that's blatantly trying to simplify Tarkov, you can't really change that one. The maps are a bit too small though, you get killed straight out of spawn pretty frequently. Otherwise, not having to grind skills or the base is extremely comforting and you can just focus on actually shooting at niggas. Only really base progression that matters is upgrading the amount you can sell at the flea market at once, your passive hunger and thirst stats decaying slower in raid (it caps after two upgrades at 30% and is pretty cheap), and the reloading bench.

For guns it's b urself; whatever feels good to use and what ammo you have. After level 3 traders things open up a lot more, but the 74u is good since you can mount attachments from level 1 and scavenge common ammo. At level 2, use either the UMP, or my choice of VSK/9A-91 for a good, easy access, cheap and good ammo suppressed weapon; SP-5 still wrecks armor and the 9A-91 still has like 70 ergo with a suppressor.

Tagilla on factory is a good boss to fight if you want to try aiming for them and get used to their AI. Some are more protected/more vulnerable than others, Tagilla in particular has armor that doesn't cover his throat area so you can actually kill him around his armor quickly if you can land your shots there. Shotguns work good for either aiming for this (easier with an SMG), or for hitting his legs/belly to just empty his total health pool.

An AI is never going to be "as good as real" players but it definitely has some cool options. they aren't omniscient and will have pretty neat behaviors sometimes like the Chad bots will straight up jump peek corners like fucking madmen and it can definitely catch you off guard. and you can effectively stealth around them sometimes but they do listen for sound queues and will sometimes fucking camp a corner if they think you will appear soon

so no it's not quite like playing with people but the AI variety is damn good. probably the most interesting fps AI I've ever played against

oh and you can get mods to make them look more realistically but that isn't always as convincing.

As someone who played a lot of Tarkov before I got burnt out on the concept, but only ever as a solo rat, I wish there was a halfway between PvE's lack of tension and chad deathsquads, extract campers, and ESP hackers. Some of the most fun I had in the game was playing cat and mouse inside the Mall with people who were clearly like me and mostly there for loot, because fundamentally the bots are never going to be as smart and reactive as other players. The fear, adrenaline, and tension of having to outsmart and outplay other normal dudes was fucking addicting, but Tarkov fundamentally suffers from the fact that groups can get matched with solos but the insurance system massively reduced the risks they faced since anything could just be tossed in a bush while I lost everything if I died, not to mention how quickly people would poopsock and gear up to be invincible murder machines and dying randomly with no replay system to even know if I got outplayed, unlucky, or hacker'ed meant that every death immediately goes to the worst assumptions. The kill or be killed mentality that arose from a similar situation in DayZ also meant that the idea of co-operating with people you encountered in raid quickly became a complete joke which was supposed to be a way to help curb the PK'ing because there's only so many mercs per map.

I performed the wiggle that killed tarkov myself about a fortnight before that video came out, I'd recently quit counter-strike because of cheating in matchmaking and was convinced the same was happening on tarkov. I bought a cheat called LABS for a day for 5 euros and wiggled at people through the walls and was wiggled at in return. Watched loot disappear live in front of me etc. After my day of LABS-EFT Cheat I reinstalled binbows and went down the SP-Tarkov route and I still play it nearly every day. I was mind blown when the wiggle video came out lol. I was filtered by counter-strike too, same thing, if you aren't matched with 9 other brits you're guaranteed to have a thirdie rage cheater in your game.

Pve is the "official" pve, acting as a separate mode with progression and everything. SPT is a free mod for tarkov, and takes some effort to get the most out of it (meaning that it needs a gew mods). I would recommend SPT, because the official pve is indeed 20$ plus 5$ VAT plus tip.

It's a game that heavily punishes you for not having three other friends interested in it. Going solo means you're bashing your heads against the rock that is the squad revive system over and over (assuming you even down anyone), going with randoms means you get no loot and almost certainly don't get to go to your own objectives.

Ability to build any gun with a couple of clicks from presets and just buy it for money off the market (which opens for you way, WAY faster, like almost immideately and you don't have to grind faggot quests for it). There are actual difficulties btw. If you want to get better loot, you have to play a different, "harder" mode where you're allowed to bring more expensive stuff with you (guns, armor, helmets). So basically kitted out niggerkilling terminators don't get matched with noobs who just started playing (one of my biggest issues with Tarkov btw). There's a cool combat report at the end of each raid where your route is drawn on the map and you get a list of stuff you did in the game. ALSO ACTUAL KILLCAM, FUCK TARKOV. Also picrelated, sidearm quickswap with a dedicated animation where your character holds the main gun in the left arm. Also ACTUAL clear magazines which speed up the ammo checking procedure TREMENDOUSLY (unlike nigger tarkov with the "will be transparent later" scribble on all P90 mags). I mean transparent mags have a different ammo checking animation even, your character doesn't take them out of the gun to see the ammo.

I used to play before Scav karma and inertia got added. I got all the way to Kappa, got it, then ran around with T-7s and M1A with one of the thermals.
Then played 1 more wipe for a while and stopped at like idk, lvl 40 or something, basically only played as background noise to talk with friends.

I didn't like dark and darker (combat gets really silly, that's no Dark Messiah MP) and Arc Raiders felt really off the track in formula. Kits don't matter in Tarkov, only ammo does, and it's easy to scav for good ammo. It's too bad BSG reverted the armor hitboxes rework that made it so you could kill any player with a burst of shitty ass 5.45 ammo from a stock AK-74. Now you have to first scav on Reserve to get BP/BT bullets.

This one is good. Do you get it instantly or when the raid is over? If it's instant then partyniggers get a huge advantage - on top of revives and having markers on each other. The lack of markers on friendlies in tarkov is great, it gives a huge advantage to solo players against teams of 3 or more, because unless they're really good at coordinating they can't spread out freely and it takes them a spare second to identify the enemy in a heat of fight.
