I preferred when she was more monstrous because it was a nice contrast to her endearing nature. Which is why its very strange to me that they changed her so drastically because I know Valve was smart enough to design her that way - I guess they figured she's more valuable as a mascot character.

>A japanese company makes a game that requires specific knowledge of a sport that doesn't exist outside the USA to advance.
The fuck?
I'm really happy to have forgotten the existence of this game instead of buying it.
How many people can figure that crap?

I think the biggest thing for me that I enjoyed about the sequel is how the Idol itself is used in comparison to its plot significance to the first game. But overall, I agree, the animations and soundtrack and generally worse just because it looks quite uncanny - I was noticing that in the DLC for the first game as well, but still ended up enjoying them. I think the time period doesn't lend itself to ancient tech discoveries in as interesting a way.
That said, it still has merit. If you played it by itself it's a pretty interesting puzzle game, it's just that the first game is more concise and realized in its concept. I'm not done with it, but I think I'm on one of the last few puzzles. There's two puzzles I really enjoy in the second game.

What ever happened to the occasional cult-classic AA-release? Nothing made in the last 10 years quite matches the feel of these 30-40 hour games that had relatively high production value on a tighter budget.
