Who asked for any of this? I was excited for DS2 because I thought the delivery and traversal would be improved on the delivery and traversal game. That's what I loved about the first game and why I played it for 100+ hours; Was that too much to ask? Hell, when you're hiking in the mountains there's still a 50% chance Sam will just clip through the floor and slide or fall down for no reason despite the game clearly marking it as walkable terrain. There have been no fixes, no improvements, even the potentially great additions like the chiral creatures and natural disasters are basically pointless. They just use Low Roar again, Asylums for the Feeling again, hell they use fucking BB's Theme again except it makes no sense this time. DS1 had so many great ideas and instead of building upon ANY of them this game just feels like a gigantic pointless joke for no one. This game's greatest achievement is having retarded "Sam you need to take out the robots in the factory with the heavy machine gun and destroy the 3 glowing things" like we're back in fucking 2010. They use Bridge Baby units, fetuses implanted in artificial wombs, to see stranded, hostile ghosts called Beached Things, which form when souls fail to depart from a decayed body. These ghosts are like antimatter, if they take a living person away, it triggers a huge explosion called a Voidout. So all corpses must be disposed of, either by cremation or by immersion in Tar, lest they become BTs.

Sam Porter Bridges was a former Bridge Baby himself, one of only two to survive past gestation. He was raised by the Extinction Entity, who became the President of the United States, and the Extinction Entity's younger self, displaced in time, presenting herself as the older version's daughter. Sam is tasked with travelling across America to reconnect the few cities remaining. He develops a bond with his own Bridge Baby, who he names Lou.

Higgs is an obsessive schizophrenic who's trying to both empower himself through the Death Stranding, and to force the world to its intended end, so it can finally reset.

Death Stranding 2 is about Sam being tasked to do the same elsewhere in the world, travelling with Lou's BT, in a pod, after she's killed by Higgs's robots.

Sam's a fugitive from Bridges/UCA after the ending of DS1 when he peaced out with Lou instead of incinerating her, but expansion of the network compromises his hiding place which is why Fragile finds him. He does the Mexico job because she's made a deal to get his fugitive status revoked in exchange.
