Mid '90s to late 2000s was when pretty much all current media was at their best. Videogames and anime were in their golden age, a bunch of music genres were booming, movies were still good, television was still alive, the internet was in its early stages so you had the best of both worlds with basically no oversight, plus all the stuff from the previous decades. The world felt like a chiller place, Bush was a funny idiot, Obama was a cool negro, you could be gay or whatever and it wasn't else's business, but religious zealotry was generally disliked. People were still authentic and irony poisoning wasn't a thing, you could be edgy and it wouldn't be the end of the world. The millenial ethos was all about not making assumptions about things and doing whatever you felt the most like.

Like, I feel bad for a certain subsection of zoomers because they clearly feel second hand nostalgia for the childhood I grew up with, and I can't blame them because culture and technology has become so stagnant since then and everything seems so bleak now.

And yeah, I was there for all the current bad shit too, but at least I knew something much better than this.

Being a millenial feels like you got the luckiest spot possible where you saw the peak of modernity right before it started rolling down the mountain.

It always makes me a tad bit irate when people who have extremely limited experiences in whatever it is that they do, and then talk like they are the ambassadors of truth regarding that subject.

I don't want to fault children for that since they indeed have very limited view of the world altogether, but by the time I was 10, I had played at least a hundred different games on multiple consoles like the NES and PS1. Played dozens of games on GameBoy Color and various games exclusive to arcades.
I absolutely fell in love with video gaming the first time I got a taste of one, and it was a very simple game at that, Space Impact for a Nokia phone, a silly little sidescrolling space shooter with surprising amount of depth for such an archaic system, and ever since I wanted to play anything and everything and expand my experiences, knowledge and understanding.

Now you have kids play like 2 games max and their entire childhood is consumed by these few games. Their parents think those few things are their whole world and they keep peppering them with more of the same shit and they'll never expand their horizons.
