Ignore the people pretending that the love for NGB and OG NG2 is a matter of "consolefaggotry". It has literally nothing to do with that whatsoever, and that's the most petty and gay shit ever, I can only assume it's some kind of cope. I can't speak much on the differences between NGB and NG Sigma, as I understand it the games are mostly similar. There are some significant changes, but I don't know of any game killing.

Sigma 2 is where the differences become more severe. The game has a much lower enemy count, especially in certain areas, the difference is by no means "minimal" as one Anon is telling you, I don't think he even played the games because you can't possibly come away with that idea if you did. The enemy count decrease in some areas are so drastic it's absurd. The gore was of course removed in Sigma 2. A less extreme change to me, but it definitely affects the feel of the game. Bosses were heavily simplified, a lot of the challenge was removed. Genshin, on of the major bosses you'll encounter, can be launched and izuna dropped, which you couldn't do in vanilla NG2. The boss Gigadeath is piss easy by comparison, the original NG2 Gigadeath felt like bs at times but it was a challenge. He has an attack for example which launches a bunch of minions at you that are like mini Gigadeaths, that explode on impact. In OG2 they lock onto you. This forces you to deal with them, alongside his other attacks, in a way that's almost treating your health bar like resource management. In Sigma 2, they don't lock onto you. You can easily avoid it. The bow is also changed in sigma 2. In Sigma 2, the controls for it are different, it's "streamlined", you can use shurikans and the bow at the same time. There's no longer projectile charging, which applied too, to the bow. For this, they rebalanced it. That also affects this fight, because you won't be relying on moments to charge your bow for greater damage in your shots (your primary method-

Well, Razors Edge was an objective, massive improvement on the base game of NG3. NG3 was agreed as absolutely terrible and a disgrace to the franchise. i have heard in recent years that the game was in fact unfinished, which is sad to hear. but i think that the game was somewhat doomed from the start for some reasons. if they had another month or two, maybe three, it would have helped im sure. but i think it would have needed more like half a year to get close to NG04 or NGB.


gameplay aside i think something tonally got lost in translation between NG1 and NG2. NG2 started this trend of the NG universe seeming more like a big joke without any thought or cohesion behind it. Just too many weird things like werewolves being in it now. i remember that really bothering me when i was younger and the sequel came out. also too many dumb things like cyborg demons like those quad walkers in NG2 or the giant voodoo zombies. i also think the demon design in general in ng2 started to get too goofy and outlandish.

i dont think that the spider ninja clan needed to have literal 10 foot ninjas with spider limbs that looked like xmen rejects. im sure some of the concepts could have maybe worked butthe designs just were too goofy looking.

i would also make a comparison between something like the red and black dinosaur reptile fiends in NGB versus something like those lanky purple things in ng2. i felt like the red and black demons were somehwat pluasible and grounded and the van gelfs or whatever just looked and moved around in an autistic manner and were stupid looking.


most of the bosses from ng2 were pretty stupid looking as well and even genshin who is probably one of the best parts of ng2 too me always looked half baked/half finished compared to something simpler like doku in his armor or even murai.

i just feel like the entire vibe was off in NG2 and the world they were crafting in ng04/ngb went off the rails with ng2 for the most part.

the blimp you have in chapter 3 for example in NGB is a world of difference between that giant airship fortress in 2. they just went too far too much at once.

I assure you Itagaki wanted it to be this way. It may seem weird to you but his mindset at that time was who the hell gives a fuck about the story. He just wanted to create a cool action game with cool enemies. However the game does have some comedy to it because of this. I get the feeling it was partially intended. Not in a very in your face way but more subtly. Ryu is a more a less normal doesn't fuck around kind of hero while everything else in his world is ridiculous to the point of even being funny like the werewovles as you put it. But never does Ryu joke like Dante. He takes it all super seriously.

Modded sigma 2 is the cheaper and better experience. The 2 black version is pretty bad, it's sigma 2 under the hood, just running ue5 visuals. At least with modded sigma 2 you get the original blood back, not the awful ue5 version of it. The drawback is that not all difficulty levels are rebalanced with the sigma 2 mod.

I like all 3 of those series, but I don’t like the philosophy that Souls has adopted in regards to boss design. I generally like the bosses I thought Consort Radahn was kino, but when all boss fights boil down to the same thing it makes them not stand out from each other as well and entering a boss arena becomes less of a surprise, because regardless of the boss’s visual design the fight is going to play out the exact same way.

Why do people preffer Black over Sigma? I've played through black multiple times. I've yet to finish it all the way through on MN. Sigma I've played less of. Somehow, Sigma feels a tad bit easier but I'm not sure. It feels like hurtboxes are larger or something but I don't really know. There are some differences I'm not a fan of but it's mostly prefference, like the general look of Black, I preffer, some stages I think look better in NGB.

I'm just curious as to why people see NGB as the definitive version, or even regard Sigma 1 as akin to Sigma 2 (a game for which the reason for hate is far more obvious).
