All the criticism I've seen so far centers around how it compares poorly to the first game, while having rose-colored delusions about the OG.
I've seen people (probably zoomers who've never even played the game but watched some faggot ass youtube essay) pretend Bloodlines 1 was some kind of sprawling, deep RPG with tons of player agency when in reality the RPG mechanics were half-baked, half the skills and attributes useless, and the combat complete dogshit. The walking simulator hub exploration where you go around talking to people and soak in the atmosphere was always the only good part of the first game. VTMB was never actually a good RPG, and if you think it was you're a zoomer retard that needs to play some real RPGs.

I played 3 hours so far, now I'm saving my energy up for Dispatch in a few hours.

I went in not expecting Bloodlines 2 but another game like Swansong, and that's pretty much what I got, with a mediocre combat thrown on top.

I also like Fabien. Good voice actor and some pretty funny lines. There's a lot of soul to this game, it just isn't an RPG, let alone a game anywhere near the caliber of the original Bloodlines.

I’m not even a big VTM fan, but how can you give this game 2 stars? One of the most atmosphere-rich game I’ve played in a long time. Besides Arkham Origins this might be the Christmas game for years to come. Seriously if you love ,, Let the right one in” you will absolutely love this game. I’m 10 hours in and the game runs incredibly, the dialogue is top notch, the city ( the best thing about the game) and the snowy roofs are incredible. There seems to be too much focus on combat but the combat is ok, not incredible or baka, but if you are really creative you can make it fun. Also the attention to detail of interiors, is out of this world. Since Bioshock 1 and Dishonered I haven’t been this focused on everything in interiors. I know that some OG fans( which I respect because without them we wouldn’t have gotten this sequel) really despise the change in direction with this one, but if you are a Dishonored/Bioshock/Prey fan you should really give it a try. This will be a cult classic in 5 years, exactly like the first one .

In terms of atmosphere, putting it during a blizzard in Seattle was a nice touch, it reminds me of Indigo Prophecy a little bit in terms of vibe. The gameplay reminds me of Thief or Dishonored. Atmosphere wise I wouldn't put it next to how VTMB felt just yet, the two radio voices I heard aren't as good as Deb. The first voice, the male radio guy, reminded me of Andrei a little bit, very ominous for a radio guy.

The criticisms of the role play element is a little over reactive I think. The original game's inventory was never that big a deal and the character sheet for it was quite restrictive. I'll keep playing this to see if they have anything as good as the haunted house or some of the other stuff from the first bloodlines in it, but gameplay wise switching to this style was probably for the best.

I do wish the Lasombra felt a little bit better to play, but what can you do.

Fabien voice actor is the only okay-ish thing in the game. The game is so shit it's unbelievable. The writing is repulsive. The Unreal Engine 5 breaks any immersion in the game as you feel the environment is so static with little to no feedback. Even trying to jump somewhere to explore doesn't quite work. The re-use of the same animation when talking with Fabien got old after the first dialogue. I rushed the tutorial just to get out in the city, and it was so tedious. The city and snowstorm sure look good, but it feels a little odd. It really shows they forced the snow to avoid having moving traffic. If you've been to Seattle you know it has more of a Pacific North West rainy city vibe. Anyways, I climbed on some building with red lights just to enjoy the scenery a bit before closing the game.

Awful game. Not even worth 0.001/10 just because I was FORCING myself to keep going and every new thing made it harder and harder to keep going. By comparison, games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R SoC, HL2, RDR2, Sekiro, Elden Ring, and obviously the first VtmB, all hook you from the very start and make you forget what time it is. This Bloodlines 2 crap made me look at my watch from the very first few seconds.

This shouldn't even be legal. There should be something like the Food and Drug Administration to regulate video games. You can't just sell shit like this and call it a video game.
