Art can be realy hard but like the other anons said, go over the basics and even go back to them sometimes if your feeling like your not getting anywhere. Trace over drawings, photos, screenshots, break characters and people down into simple shapes. Look at 3D models on websites like Sketchfab, maybe get something physical to help you out like drawing lines on a ball. Pinterest is also a lifesaver even though theres a bit of an AI problem. I'm not the first person to make this comparison, but learning to draw is a lot like learning a language.

At first, get a strong grasp of the basic rules and fundamentals and brute-force lots of highly unintuitive stuff into your head. After that, it's a game of volume where you take in as much information as possible and study **MINDFULLY** as much as you possibly can, while applying and internalizing the fundamentals you've learned. Your observation ability will fundamentally improve the same way your language listening and reading abilities improve.

Finally, learning how to put together actually good artwork that isn't just studies would be like learning to write good literary works in the language you've just learned, and that's its own rabbithole.

It may be true since porn has an inherent advantage over other types of media, but I still wouldn't say this makes art the easiest way to get attention. Right is the original. Left, the devs doing the HD remaster didn't understand that while the fog was caused by a technical restriction, it was built with that restriction as a feature, not a flaw. So they tried to "improve it" by simply removing the restriction." ruining both the intended visual style and also if you look at the second and third pannel, they didn't actually accomodate the environemnt for the longer draw distance so it just casually cuts off.

you can actually see areas of improvement, but they're not what people on 4chan looking to mock someone will focus on. being able to draw eyes with only a partial outline instead of just a pure oval, more "texturing" through the initial coloring instead of applying filters after, better "lighting" around the edge of the face, the nose went from essentially just a black line to an actual drawn nose that has depth and shades of color to it, ect.

they are obviously not good yet but when they are good, being able to draw without outlines is actually important. The artist isn't seeing it the way a pessimistic 4channer is seeing it, they're seeing "oh damn back then I still had to rely on thick outlines to separate things, I didn't know how to shade even a little bit yet, my eyes were always way too big, I didn't learn how to do noses yet, ect". It is a step on the ladder of progress, art takes a long time to actually improve and someone like that will keep improving if they try.

Symbol drawing is replicating very stripped form of a thing without taking into consideration how perspective, surface and angle affect it. Like for example the stereotypic egyptian imagery of their paintings: The characters are always in same angle, their face straight to side, their eyes still lookg as if they drawn from front and the same thing just copypasted multiple times.

When you draw without inital constructing you might use very symbolized forms for example for eye and headshape that only represent the very simple mental image you have of the subject. Let's say you want to draw Homer from Simpsons. You know the Simpson design for Homer has circle eyes, the head shape is rounded dome on cylineder the ears are circles. You can draw it without constructing but most likely it will look like the features are 2D printed on the head instead of considering the 3D depth and presentation. Despite the eyes being circles, they also need to be spheres and have certain depth in them and how deep they are into the skull. If you consider the features propotions and plan them accordingly for 3D, you won't be symbol drawing them, instead you are constructing them.

Symbol drawing is drawing what you *think* you see, not what you *actually* see. For example, we tend to think of faces as having eyes, mouths, noses and ears, etc., and we associate certain symbols with those things.

These flat symbols will creep their way into an amateur's art. Learning to draw is about overcoming this intuition and just learning how to actually observe the shape and form of the thing that's actually in front of you. Ideally it should barely even occur to you that you're drawing a face at all.
