The fact there is no DLC is very reassuring.
The fact that some characters have not been shown yet means there is plenty to look forward to.

Only immediate issue is that they didn't grab either of the 64 girls or anyone from Forgotten Land on the roster, least got shown off. Will have to see if they're actually sitting on anything for it or not.

Outside that? Really good presentation, though I do wonder somewhat on the Air Ride mode's longevity. Double the tracks, but not sure if it will stack up to other racing games. There was some fun to be had with the mode in the original game, but the assessment that City Trial carried that game is unfortunately very spot-on.

Minus no City Trial from the original, I can only make minor nitpicks against the game. It's basically everything I could have wanted, but I do have one mega autistic issue which is I really liked every stat power up having its own sound effect when collected, which is now all just one common sound effect. I understand since we seem to be getting stats at a much higher rate, but I enjoyed the little affect and mental image each unique sound gave.

Oh yeah, I agree. Unless there's an actual handful left, would be strange to just not show off a couple more Riders early. The biggest two exclusions having reasonable explanations behind them not being here doesn't bode well for more non-story Riders as well.

It definitely seems like Nintendo does a good job of serving it, I just can’t get into the gameplay very much. I played the demo for Robobot a little while back and thought it was neat but that’s about it. Something about the way Kirby controls just doesn’t do it for me, but I’m happy the fans get what they want.

Air Riders seems like it has the mechanical complexity and control feedback I enjoy in games so I can see myself sinking a lot of hours into it; Sakurai just seems to “get” game appeal on a very fundamental level.

There’s a lot of KIU influence in this game which I’m very happy about (every time I hear a harp in the soundtrack my soul leaves my body for a second). The machines in particular are basically just angel weapons turned into cars. It’s very nice to see Sakurai getting the chance to step away from smash for a bit because I truly believe he does his best work outside of it.

I'm sorry but Sakurai has lost the plot. Kirby has evolved beyond him with better bosses, better characters, better music, better settings and a better narrative cohesion. Promoting the mushroom and flying face to playable characters while reluctantly throwing a mangy pittance in the form of susie and taranza to the current fanbase is the final insult. They probably had to put him in a headlock to even reference forgotten lands, you know, the best Kirby game currently out there. Get this guy off the franchise.

Blizzard Valley's is so good. I guess I'm biased because I've put over 100 hours into CrossWorlds already and adore the game as a whole, but I just think the music is good and don't mind the vocals on lap 3 since it helps give this game some identity and when it sounds good it sounds incredible, like Aqua Forest which is easily top 5 songs in the game. But it definitely could have been handled better and maybe wasn't worth the risk since it's more divisive than they expected.

The newer games have slower movement bit I highly recommend giving Kirby Super Star, specifically the SNES version, a try. When you get used to the double tap for sprintinng it plays like a fucking dream and you move super smoothly and swiftly. It's also just the best game in the series

My general stance is that Dark Matter's story is done. We already know its lore (Hive Mind that found Pop Star with a rogue element and Gooey, Kirby tries to teach the hivemind head emotion and it backfires horribly) and it doesn't need more tacked onto it, and it certainly doesn't need to be brought back. An 03 would be silly and undermine the atmosphere of the 02 fight. If we got cut scenes like we get in Modern Kirby games, where Dark Matter started narrating exposition about how it's lonely, I think people would really dislike it.
