To be "punished" you need to do something wrong first, that is the definition of a punishment.
Yes if you play perfect you are invulnerable that is the point of the build. However if you fuck up your timing, one of drifts, or are simply unable to drift because you are in the air you can get heavily punished.
You get punished harder for fucking up then any other build because you have put everything in drifting and front running and nothing in any comeback mechanics.
Compare that with a Slipstream bounty + Ring boost, where they can easily get back to 100 rings and top speed even after fucking up. Less punishing.
