Bitch, it was a team based objective shooter. People knew what that was, they didn't like what they were forced to look at in terms of character design and actual gameplay. TTK being so damn high with characters that didn't exactly telegraph their general gameplay style or even theme didn't help. If anything, the public knew what they made better than the developers did.
