Last 3 times we've gone Sand Road, I've won every time just by holding onto a triple boost wisp. Seriously, that normally mid item is god-tier there.
Also, for anyone still having trouble with the boost jump in Crystal Mine, there's a slightly big bump right at the jump, and you want to wait until AFTER that bump and turn sharp into it.

My 2C as a casual passerby "fan" (prior to this the last games I played were Heroes and Riders on GC) I find this game to be pretty damn fun

Barnes seems gooooood... I really enjoyed scrapnik island and the chaotix 30th was pretty epic, I did like how everyone acted very in-character, Sonic was especially cool with how he noticed Amy wasn't having the best time, it was a very cool Sonic moment.
My only complaint for the chaotix comic is that is could've been more dramatic. He should've really driven home how amazing of a thief Enigma is l, how little everyone believed in the chaotix when it came to the museum case, and how big of a bust it was to reveal the headmaster of the museum stole everything. It all needed a little more drama but it was good otherwise.
