>annoying progressives on twitter
The fact that you keep downplaying just how influential these people and their ideas were shows your intentions are just to cover for them. Anita, Zoe, and Brianna were not just "annoying Twitter/Tumblr progressives". They had extensive industry connections and knew just who to call to spread their ideas or get the content they didn't like shut down. For fuck's sake, the literal UN granted them an audience and a platform and they don't just do that for anyone. You now see people spouting the same rhetoric all across the industry in key positions. A direct result of the "annoying progressives on Twitter". Almost every single game now goes through an "ethics department" staffed with these cunts and faggots before it's ever allowed to see the light of day.
>where their new home was, they weren't killed
If you actually payed attention, you'd realize ecchi games basically died after 2019. Outside of a few remasters (e.g.,Gal*Gun Returns) and qureate, it was nothing but ports of older games past 2020. All the major ecchi series dropped off the face of the earth after Sony banned them because Playstation was their main platform. Senran Kagura, Gal*Gun, Dungeon Travelers, Omega Labyrinth, Bullet Girls, Genkai Tokki, all dead after 2019 with no new entries because Sony correctly predicted that their platform was too big to ignore. The Switch was not a new home for ecchi games in hindsight, it was just a retirement home. And it ceased being even that after 2023.
>being forced to stop allowing them to come to the West
This is another part you're wrong. Nintendo is not just blocking these games in the west, but censoring them in the east as well. Tokyo Clanpool, Hundred Line, Kamikaze Lassplanes, various qureate games, all examples of games that were censored by Nintendo even in Japan. Several of these also never saw western releases Why would Nintendo censor games that don't leave Japan if it was just for western legal pressure
