Hidden Mansion in NA was the same but darker and apparently Nintendo listened to that criticism for the EU version and made it essentially into Master Quest + Hard mode (mirrored, ghosts deal more damage but poultergust has more sucking power, bosses are more aggressive, etc.)
Hearts are also more scarce and the main way to get them is through sucking up ghosts in the hall or being lucky with some drawers
It kicks your ass so it's recommended if you want to experience what it felt like playing the game as an 8 year old again

Honestly I like NSO better than VC. A couple of my friends along with their friends and I looked together to have a family membership, so we each only spend $10 a year for all of this stuff. I'm in the same boat. I subscribed to the basic plan because I'm willing to pay $20 to play stuff like Splatoon and Mario Kart online. The NES and SNES roms are, at most, a cute novelty. I play them every once in a while when I'm away from home. If I have access to my PC and I want to play an old game start to finish, I just use a proper emulator.

On that note, are the people who want VC to return incapable of finding roms? I understand wanting to own your games instead of renting them, but I can download all the classic games Nintendo offers onto my hard drive for free. For all intents and purposes, I "own" those files. Why not let NSO be the cheap, convenient option for trying games you wouldn't have bought otherwise, and download the roms elsewhere for the games you really care about. If Nintendo ditched the subscription and started charging for these games, considering the free alternatives available, who would spend $5 for Ice Climbers?

If you like adventure games where you gain access to more areas in the overworld through puzzles and progression items then by all means give it at least a try for a few hours.

Also Nintendo Classics only work if you log on once a week per app. If you don't check in online for seven days you can't boot the app. Buying games would at least let you play your favorite games offline when you don't have internet for a week. It happened to me in spring of this year when my ISP shit the bed with a broken cable.

Yeah, same. I did a few that were fun enough, like Wrecking Crew and Startropics, but I look at the GBA being part of the premium sub and just pull up my emulated copy of Sigma Star Saga there instead. Emulation also offers translation patches, bugfixes, and more that's not on NSO.
I certainly prefer that I at least get something more than just the ability to use my internet with my games, so I don't mind the existing ones, but I see zero reason to pay for the premium one.

The console has only been out for four months. If you look at upcoming Switch 2 games, a lot of them are releasing in Spring 2026 like January-April. You do have Metroid Prime 4 coming in December, but it's not like Nintendo is going to mark it down for the holiday season. You'd be more likely to get a PS5 or Xbox on sale for the holidays than a Switch 2.

Playing the DQ III remake at the minute, will no doubt play some Legends ZA at some point, and might play Balatro later and watch the football. I'll probably pick up Hyrule Warriors when it comes out next week.

Just beat Mario Galaxy 1 and finished doing all the Purple Coins levels. Luigi's Purle Coins was a pain in the ass but surprisingly I did it in 8 tries. Dreadnought was worse because it requires muscle memory with how you have to position yourself in certain jumps. Also, the 180-degree glitch will fuck you over in this level. The Pro Controller is also not good to use for this level since you have to be quick in destroying those asteroids and you have to keep moving to get those purple coins. Overall great game with incredible music. Will play Galaxy 2 after I start and finish Breath of the Wild.

It probably was just a Switch Pro at some point. I figure the issue was two fold: Nintendo's developers have gotten too lost in the sauce and they take forever on games that shouldn't take that long (Sakurai can make Air Riders in 3 years but MKW and DK tool 7-8?). My guess is some of it is over polish. The other is Nintendo was probably hoping the Yen carry trade unwound so Switch 2 units weren't so expensive to make. This might also be why they aren't shipping a ton to Japan because they are getting the system for like $350 most likely Nintendo will raise the price on them next year, especially if this holiday isn't great

I just started up Pokemon Sword. I have a massive backlog of games for Switch 1 which turned out to be a blessing now that I have the Switch 2. Not all of them have updates yet, but you can tell there's improvement in how some feel to play. I'm happy with it. Also playing Hunt Showdown on PC and AoE2 on PS5 Pro with friends.

It's an action shooter featuring an OL and her animal spirit buddies (a thunder crow, a water dragon and a fire fox) fighting off the miasma monsters roaming the town at night. And yeah it's fun although the oo-miasma (one of them being a big succubus queen) levels do show a big difficulty spike.
Besides the story itself, Miasma Breaker does require a good level of Japanese in order to understand the upgrade effects from the passive bonuses you purchase with the money (sometimes gems) as well as the level up upgrades.

Winding down with Pokemon Legends Z-A now I've done most stuff with 72 hours played, but it's made me hungry for more Pokemon so I've been playing Pokemon BrilliantDiamond and Pokemon Snap. Also been playing Luigi's Mansion.

Excited for all the upcoming GC stuff (especially the two Pokemon games and Fire Emblem), and Kirby and Metroid.

I'll buy a switch 2 in 5 years when its modded and play the games and it will be used so nintendo sees none of the profit from me.
