What? No. That's silly. Nogames normies and speed running are not the opposite ends of the scales. I don't really hate speed runners in general. I just think speed running is kind of boring. If I was going to watch someone play a game I'd like to see someone that has mastered it. That plays with style, flare, and efficiency. Then I tune in and see someone grinding their character into a corner to clip through the floor or just spam back step to cross a room faster. It's just.. boring. No shad on speed runners or people that like them. I'm sure stumbling across a new glitch is exciting and there is plenty of skill and precision in it but.. man it's just boring. The ultimate in minmaxing the fun out of any game.

We hate normies because we're jealous of their healthy social lives and we hate speedrunners because we're jealous of them having much greater passion than us for the only hobby we care about. The closest thing there could be to a middleground is if someone was just as miserable, hateful, and pathetic as we are. But if they weren't anonymous we'd still bully them for that since we're petty and cruel above all else. Taking our misery and anger out on someone else feels better than sharing it with them.

Where does the whole thing about accusing Onimai watchers of being transgender come from? I know the ones who avatarfag with it are faggots in many cases. But the anime itself made troons seethe with all of its blatant loli fanservice and nudity. The genderswap shit isn't anything more than a premise. The anime even has multiple things that would piss them off (that they even pathetically changed in the crunchyroll dub). Such as talking about periods and other things actual women have. I'm pretty sure the protagonist even feels like a pervert and tries to respect the girls multiple times because he recognizes that he wasn't originally one. The overall message is that biology is what makes a female. On top of the fanservice they had to censor on the crunchyroll version, the anime had so many biological truths it made many 'ack. The anime also had some of the best lolicon talent in the industry on board.

Games are meant to be won. If you truly like a game you'll naturally lean into playing it optimally, and if the meta is unfun, well then it's a bad game. Speedrunners play games because they enjoy the routing and technical aspects, and skips can eliminate the most boring parts.

anyway there are no speedruns where skips are used to get past the boring part. almost every time they play the boring parts and skip the fun parts.

Playing games to 100% completion and stopping, then revisiting the really good ones once in a while.
Also, I don't hate speedrunning, I just think as lot of normal speedruns are really boring to watch. I prefer watching TASes.

It's the only metric available in those games. The only way to optimize a game like mega man is to play it faster, your time is your score. Different genres have different metrics for success. Competitive games are decided by victory over an opponent, shmups by score, etc. Not all speedrun games are created equally. Playing mega man x purely for time and only getting the dash boots while forgoing all upgrades and health tanks fundamentally changes the game and makes it very fun and challenging.

You aren't robotically executing inputs, you're routing. It's humanly impossible to play the game like a TAS so it's broken into a memorization method called chunking where we break it into steps. Additionally, mega man can be quite random.
