Has the vidya industry stagnated? I haven’t heard of a “revolutionary” game in like a decade. The closest I see is video essay bait indie games.

People who play consoles and PC are old now so they don't want innovation.

The industry doesn't incentivize innovation it encourages safe bets which is basically just endlessly repeating what has already worked, that's why you see remakes and remasters and games that look almost identical to each other even when its a new IP.

We had Hi-Fi Rush a couple years ago. IMO that is where vidya ended, we've gotten a couple okay releases since but nothing earth-shattering or truly great.

People that do innovate make games that aren't cool, so they make no money. Maybe if innovators weren't so gay you would get AAA games like that. But imo that era is over. Only indie and AA game developers innovate. Whatever you're looking for OP you'll have to dig for it. No more free rides.

What else is there to revolutionize while still using a traditional controller or keyboard & mouse? Every gameplay method/element/mechanic possible has already been invented and perfected.

People rejected motion controls and VR, so what else is there? There is nothing left to revolutionize. There are still some things that could be improved on, like narrative, but that is it.
