I actually just finished reading The Hobbit and there were so many things about the book that surprised me, but the elves in it really were assholes, at least to the suspicious dwarves, but then they help the humans rebuild their town and join forces and the two become indistinguishable from each other. Actually, at the very end the Elfking suddenly sounds nicer than Bard and I felt like Tolkien accidentally switched their characters. But the point is, in battle Tolkien doesn't describe the elves as fighting any more ingeniously, magically or impressively than the humans. And I was surprised they basically just live in a fucking rock. It's not ornate or anything. Humans build castles, dwarven tunnels are described as being the finest craftmanship, but the wood elves just like in the woods and their one shelter is basically a fucking cave. They also get blackout drunk at their feast and the films made me think they were immune or something.

The Hobbit takes place like thousands of years after The Silmarillion, where the elves made huge ass awesome god-cities and even hung out with literal angels in person and could make jewels so beautiful even the angels didn't understand their construction. Eventually their societies decayed over thousands of years due to the influence and lies of Morgoth leading them down a path of civil war and vain attempts at revenge that even the angels tell them won't work and will only make things worse.

If the elves don't live up to their We Wuz Kangz talk for you, this is why. By the time of The Hobbit you're basically seeing the post-apocalyptic descendants of an empire that's only a shadow of its former self and has been dying for eons.

The Return of the King Extended Edition had a scene where Legolas and Gimli get into a drinking competition and inexplicably the alcohol does nothing to Legolas, in spite of the Hobbit lore. So they fucked up and had to change that in the Hobbit movies. Canonically Elves can get just as drunk as humans and only Dwarves have a real superior tolerance to alcohol.

This Apophis appears to be the actual true Dark Chaos figure.

He's also not wrong in that in Digital Devil Story Megami Tensei Set for whatever reason is a giant serpent and in SMT2 the design for Set is some sort of black dragon thing and in both they're equivalents to a slumbering Chaos Serpent figure, yet both instances would better fit Apophis, who even exists in the story as is.

If Set's character was more like Loki was, sowing discord for his own gain, and designed more accurately it would have fit better when Lucifer shows up.

In one version of the myth where Osiris and Nepthys sleep with each other, it's less so willingly with Nepthys cheating on Seth and much more on Osiris forcing himself on her and raping her in the process.
