Tight controls, varied and complex attack patterns, intricate and heavily layered scoring systems, high replayability. It's no surprise shmups cause the most butthurt, they're pretty much pure undiluted gameplay. Like if you threw a bunch of video games into a blender and distilled off the gameplay chemical the resulting compound would be called shmup. This doesn't make every shmup inherently the best, but it's undoubtedly the rawest form of gameplay in video games which makes it the ultimate litmus test for sorting out normalfags. There's just no escaping the vidya when you fire up a shmup.

Actually this is worth discussing. Magic in morrowind is effectively opening up the console and adjusting damage values. It's basically just a roundabout way of cheating and third worlders absolutely live for the feeling of cheating. Every game these kids larping as boomers like is some game where you can look up a strategy that trivializes the entire game and act like their hardcore gamers for looking something up on gamefaqs. There's no way to just make a shmup braindead, you can't grind to level 99 and just bulldoze through it. You gotta actually play it. Games like this are poison to casuals.

Something about dark and edgy settings are really popular for normalfags.
They're always all show with no substance nor reasoning. X is DAARK and EDGYY so that must mean X is a serious and good game!

Anything colorful must not be very serious and possibly for children. They also have a huge issue seeing beautiful things in media unless it's cats or just beautiful nature, and fair enough I like it too, but oh boy you better not show them actually beautiful characters.

You'll notice my score is 15,000,000 points higher in the webm. (the rank is also higher, but not by much because I'm strategically resetting it for survival) The main thing I would change is getting to the bottom corner on the second phase which lets you hit the both the arm and the body simultaneously for awhile, which makes the bomb trick at the end really dang consistent. I have a cleaner way to do the initial patterns now but its not hard to figure out, but that second phase part is REAL helpful.

This isn't about Morrowind or when gaming was still relatively niche. And it took a whole meme cultural phenomenon for people to even notice Souls. DeS wasn't even trying to be disgusting in it's violence, either. As an enjoyer of both genres I have to agree that shmups are more dense and demanding from minute to minute and clearing them on 1cc is quite a challenge. No death-delete your save runs are the only thing that can save rpgs since it raises the stakes on your playthrough to make your decisions more meaningful but RPGs are more about picking stats than actually executing a challenging maneuver that you need to practice. Any honest rpg player will admit they're half in it for the fantasy of becoming an invincible stat golem in a magical world. Nothing wrong with games as a theme park.

I have 1250 hours worth of matches on my main fightcade account and over 2000 hours combined acrossed all accounts. (matches is key here, fightcade does not record labbing time) While my accomplishments are not what I personally consider impressive, I have indeed won tournaments and taken sets off international champions, but my best memories are dumb rivalries and making friends and silly shit like managing to hit dyne with a midnight pleasure. I don't see what's so hard to understand about this. Once you get a taste for it these theme park games just seem shallow and retarded.
