The chase scenes are pretty bad. Especially the one in the hospital where it's purposefully built in a circle to make you run in a loop for 20 minutes before realizing what you're doing.
But I like the music, the story is okay as its own thing, it looks good for a Wii game, the psychological shit is cool the first time you play through it before you realize how shallow it is, etc.

I played The Short Message today. What did I think of it?
The story is absolute dogshit but the child abuse backstory part was surprisingly compelling and I can't help but find Anita kind of cute despite her being a frumpy goblina. Sakura Head isn't exactly a very good design but it rapidly stomping after you in tight maze-like corridors is fucking scary as hell (until you figure out you can always just turn around if you see it). /v/ lied to me about the "Silent Hill phenomenon", It's just a mental thing you fuckwits.

I finally gave SH2 Remake a shot this weekend and I’m pleasantly surprised so far. The new apartment they added at the start of the game is ludokino. I’m liking how the remake goes all in on the idea of Silent Hill being James’ purgatory which he has to relive over and over.

The only relation they share is, ironically, their lack of relation to Silent Hill. The cherry blossom theming in Short Message is because the dead artist friend of the protagonist was deeply infatuated with them. Nothing to do with f.

Anyone else disappointed they removed this shot from the staircase scene in the remake? I always saw it as Angela looking down on James, both literally and figuratively, and always thought it was the most powerful shot in the cutscene.

They removed practically every cool shot of every scene in the remake. It's just one part of a greater sequence of disappointments.

It's sad to read the stuff about the original Silent Hill 5, the one that would have normal Silent Hill at the start and be daylight horror inspired by Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Jacob's Ladder.
The series was getting creative before Jewnami decided to meddle with shit, split them in half, pushed for a fucking on-rails shooter (that became SH3), even causing Sato to quit Konami after SH2 because they only paid him half of what was agreed.

I hope something at Bloober goes terribly wrong and they don't get to remake SH1. After seeing how they butchered SH2 and just copy off dead space, I hope they get nuked by China.
