People have speculated that the "crazy fever dream" Toby had about the ending of Deltarune happened right after the English translation of Umineko was finished, there's a video of him singing OH DESIRE, Deltarune shares metafictional elements with Umineko, it was released on Halloween (shit, now that I'm thinking about Toby is REALLY into Halloween), uses different colors of text in Undertale and Deltarune for plot significant reasons, and more.
There's just enough evidence to believe that Toby was inspired by Umineko/Higurashi, but it's also known that Umineko fans dont shut the fuck up about Umineko, but if he IS basing the plot off Umineko, any Umineko fan will have foresight which reaches the level of spoilers, so it would still make sense for him to not bring it up.
Regardless I think an Erika-like character who shits on fantasy dark worlds would be a great villain, imagine her shredding a playing card up and calling Susie a baby, imagine her using FACTS and LOGIC to prove that Susie never met Gerson, imagine her humiliating Susie by telling her to open a fountain right here right now so everyone can see

I think the point of the story isn't to be a generic JRPG plot about changing fate/fighting god/flipping the bird to the Prophecy. I don't think the Prophecy even should be antagonized. The way these future events are set up ("And YOU definitely wouldn't let it happen.") sets the Prophecy will tell a fatalistic fate where everything was written and set in stone but every action were conscious choices by the actors involved. There's not much of a point to any of what I'm saying rather I just wanna express people's idea you MUST change fate you HAVE TO fight against the hecking evil prophecy feels like a lame and simplistic way of seeing the story

Fine, here’s the revised version of my Stages of Grief Theory. I’ve mentioned this theory before (even before Chapters 3 and 4 came out) but I never explained it in detail because I was too lazy to write a few paragraphs, so your thread finally gave me the motivation I needed to get this dumb thing off my chest.
The key common theme between all the hidden bosses is that they each represent a stage of grief. But what are they grieving? Freedom: freedom from their own fate, which they’re unable to change. This is symbolized by the shadow crystals and, of course, the freedom motif.
Based on the item’s description, it’s very probable that the shadow crystals show you visions of being free from your own tragic fate, and that’s what led Spamton and Jevil down their own schizo paths.
Jevil denies that he’s locked in a cage and thinks he’s the only one with freedom, so he represents Denial.
Spamton knows he doesn’t have freedom and tries to negotiate for it, so he represents Bargaining.
Now, the Roaring Knight... I originally thought the Knight would represent Anger, but after seeing the Knight strike that cool pose during that Chapter 4 scene, I can tell that fella really isn’t all that angry. And if you listen to Black Knife, the freedom motif isn’t present, which is a clear indication that this boss is meant to be an exception to the rule. After all, the Knight is also the only boss who isn’t actually hidden and instead hijacks the story. This boss is the odd one out.

Moving on, we have good ol’ Gerson. It’s well known that he’s not a schizo like Jevil or Spamton, and that’s why he rejected the promises of “freedom” offered by the shadow crystal: “Felt like someone really wanted me to use this thing, but it didn’t interest me, so you can take it.” Because Gerson knows he’s the one writing his own story and walks between the lines of the prophecy, he has actual freedom. He represents Acceptance, since he’s not grieving over a fruitless vision and has control over his own fate.
I’ve seen anons disappointed that we haven’t gotten a proper schizo boss during Chapters 3+4, and that this supposedly meant the pattern of “schizo bosses” wasn’t real. The good news is that, if my theory is correct, we’ll have a proper schizo boss again in Chapter 5. Here’s my prediction: we’re gonna get a hidden boss who’s ANGRY, this boss KNOWS they don’t have freedom and can’t change their fate, so they’re angry about it and will lash out at our three heroes.
After fighting that boss, we’ll have every shadow crystal. So what’s next? It’s uncertain, but if I had to guess, I’d say we’re going to fight Seam next, since he represents Depression. You can hear how pessimistic his dialogue is in Chapter 1 and he constantly doubts your chances of survival. And honestly, he doesn’t seem that trustworthy. You really think you can trust that cat when you’re handing him those dangerous shadow crystals for free? He’s planning something, and we’ll have to fight him in Chapter 6.
In Chapter 7, I think we’ll confront the one behind it all, the person who gave these shadow crystals to the hidden bosses, and it’s very likely that it’ll be FRIEND.
So yeah, there’s nothing too revelatory about this theory, but I’m confident the pattern is there. It’s worth pointing out to give us a good idea of where the story’s heading. I’m certain we’ll have an angry schizo boss, at the very least.

Deltarune takes place after Frisk / (YOU) / Chara merged after the Genocide run in Undertale, reason Kris looks like an older Frisk
They do another run that results in the True Pacifist ending with Chara in control.
After credits, Chara rebuilds the world and kills ALL humans on the surface off screen using the souls and some other method.
This was the first rip ROARING booger penis event.
Chara lives as Kris in the new world and has a very awkward upbringing on account of being a murder hobo but they do care about the monsters in the surface.
Gastler survives the first ROARING and he want to destabilize the world because the ROARING caused the walls of reality to be thinner for him to get himself back to the physical realm.
This could destroy the entire world in the process.
Kris and others are aware of the plot.
(YOU) reawaken because Kris needs to use the POWER of the Human SOUL to reseal the fountains.
Kris is struggling to keep Frisk and (YOU) under control.
Chara this time is the HERO trying to keep their world under control.
Frisk does not even know what is going on because everyone he / she knew is dead, the soul represents Frisk when they aren't under the control of Chara or (You). Frisk has some willpower of their own but it is a tug of war between Chara and the player.
(YOU) are not important but the WEIRD route is not Chara pulling the strings, it is (YOU) wanting out of the plot and Chara knows you are a blood thirsty asshole with no real objective other than morbid curiosity.

There are a few characters that know who Kris really is, namely the Holidays.

Papyrus will be revealed to be Asriel and Kris older brother, reason we have not seen him in Deltarune in Chapter 5.
