If you look at the two bond form they are
-Humanoid
-fluorescent line
-design are inspired by a mix of their adult , perfect and ultimate form (Bond Agumon has the color scheme of Greymon/Metalgreymon but his helmet+hair looks like Wargreymon, Bond Gabumon is metalic and has "wing" like Metalgarurumon but still has fur part like Garurumon/Weregarurumon).

So for Piyomon bond of love I would take Garudamon has a base. Change his helmet to looks like Hououmon one with the feather, give it 4 wings and give it a tail similar to Hououmon. Then for the color make it fiery like Birdramon with purple neon line to remind of the Hououmon feather tips.

I don't mind, especially because I know that upgrades make it easier and that chain melons exist, but casual mouthbreathers only see lost progress so they get pissed off
it reminds me of gachas that pull something similar with lives or energy systems and fuel/miscellaneous consumables to continue playing, so that's probably what puts them off

which ones? the main issues with story games are the copious amounts of menuing (digimon, examine stats, examine techs, sort techs, move digimon (ok now to fucking where), etc.), the inability to quickly find your team(s) on a list and quickly re-equip (have fun wading through 40 rows 3 times to equip 3 tactician USBs), and the inability to tell what the fuck you're moving (what species was the mon I'm swapping out)). survive suffered from of these problems too (want to equip 2 learning crystals? scroll 40 rows down twice. want to feed stat-boosting food? only 1 item at a time lol)
combat in cs was more or less braindead (just buff up, use character reversal if necessary, fire off your strongest moves). I guess it's an improvement on that front
