I know I might be in the minority here but I think Nidalee's new voice actress did an awful job and ruined the champ.

Classic LoL theory about "when do I buy Mejai" seem to place it as a desperate comeback item, which makes sense. But I've tried it out in super-even super-neutral games where neither team really dies a lot (poke vs poke usually) and it feels really good because as soon as you get a very slight advantage and can get to 10 mejai stacks you can turn the match on its head and start snowballing. The way to learn is by making mistakes and reviewing those mistakes and learning from them.
High elo or low elo both miss the point you can do it in any elo, but in high elo your mistakes will be punished more judiciously so it can be easier to recognize the egregious ones.
But also once you're significantly behind your mistakes stop being possible to learn from, so only the first five minutes or so will be teaching for you and everything after will just be getting your balls kicked in
Either way the only way for you to learn is by having the initiative to recognize your errors.

this is coming from a player who peaked chall and was rank1/high rated in a couple other competitive games
whenever i play i just takes notes of cringe shit i do and i make sure to never do the same mistakes again because it's embarrassing
because i am bashing myself for bad plays during the game, these moments act like bookmarks that i will keep in mind and remember for a while(depending on the severity of the mistake)

with this mindset i am always improving without even checking my replays
HOWEVER
a lot of the times the mistakes i make are way before shit hits the fan, maybe it's a macro mistake or maybe it's a wasted summoner 2 minutes ago that would've changed the outcome of the fight
in the heat of the moment it's easy to say "i should've just positioned better but this fight still looked hard because enemy had too many spells up" when in reality i should've been 100% safe if i didn't waste my flash

you will pick up on a lot more mistakes when you watch replays, watching replays is always 100% correct as long as you keep an eye on potential missed points and you know what you are looking for
but like you said, a lot of players just have a different mindset where they don't need to force themselves to learn because they are learning passively all the time
