So after playing Raidou remastered, my understanding is that the timeline goes as follows:
Raidou 1 + 2 > Demon Summoner > Soul Hacker > SMT if > Persona series > Soul Hackers 2
and Raidou XL comes from the SMT 1 + 2 timeline...
Where does Nocturne, Strange Journey, IV, V, and Devil Survivor 1 + 2 fit in? They're in their own continuity? The Demonica armor from SJ is in IV, what's the connection?

Devil Survivor isn't connected to the others at all. Maybe? It does have cameos of Soul Hackers characters in the Devil Auction and also mentions Devil Summoning systems shaped like guns or musical instruments existing elsewhere. But there's no explanation or acknowledgement of it being a potential future or anything. Devil Survivor 2 isn't connected to Devil Survivor 1 or anything else storywise, although it still reuses the same names for the Devil Auction.
IV was said to be made with Strange Journey as a "setting basis", but not actually connected to it story-wise. IV kind of gives the illusion it could be taking place in SJ's world (like the reference to a Demonica team better than Japan's, the Mem Aleph statue on the Gaean temple, the Demiurge is even said to be a piece of God, so you could read it as God still being fragmented like in SJ...), but IVA doesn't line up with that at all. It doesn't build on any of the old SJ references while also revealing new information that completely contradicts it (like no one seeing YHVH before, so he clearly never got torn apart by the Mother Goddesses. Note the Demiurge in IVA is just fusion fodder with no story role).

What would you say are the better skills in Raidou for single target? Something simple like Agidyne that's just straight up 18 power for 24 Mag or Skills that work like Hellfire with 23 power for 40 Mag and 2-5 ticks afterwards? I severely doubt the ticks stack and instead will probably just overwrite themselves over and over, so I assume Agidyne would be more Mag efficient when it's just being spammed. I'm in the end game and want to fuse an optimized Beelzebub.

So it's hard to say, -dyne spells are the best for breaking shields and are mag-efficient while spells like hellfire do more damage overall but are less good at breaking shield.
Breaths spells still do the most damage if all 3 hits connect but they also do the least damage to shields and cost the most mag.

I was thinking that the only real challenge comes from boss fights, and those revolve a lot around breaking shields, so that's why I thought -dyne might be best overall. I'm also thinking that on Detective Legend casting skills seem to become super expensive, so the high Mag ones may be hard to get off at all. Maybe I should look into Raidou's skills first to see what's possible in terms of shield breaking from him alone. I wish there were some good guides out there.
