Even though it's a static map learning the ins and outs of it is very satisfying. Nightlords are kino aside from caligo who just feels like a generic dragon fight. Run variety for characters like Wylder and Recluse is actually pretty decent. Being able to actually use any weapon you pocket to decent effect even if you got it just for the passive is fun. Character quests seem to all be really good too

Got him first try on an absolutely RNG-carried run. Had Radahn's Swords, jellyfish shield, a lightning weapon and grease, and two good damage negation talismans.
Buddy was playing recluse, and a random wylder who was pretty decent.
He only got two nukes off. I suspected the dotted line was were he was aiming it so i ran away from it first time, couldn't get away from the 2nd nuke so i shield-blocked it and only lost about 20% health.
Wylder died to the crazy twinblade combo but we got him up instantly with an ult. Only death in the fight.
Only used 2 flasks. IMO overall way easier than gigadel.

And a weak and weary potioner, frail of body.

Just beat this game after buying it far later than most of you ITT probably did. Not proud of these stats but I'll share them anyway. Here's how many runs it took me to beat each night lord:

Miquella: plainly evil, wants to obtain Radahn so much that he's willing to doom an entire region, brainwash and kill Mohg, let his sister get consumed by rot, let his Haligtree die and make Radahn die a slow and agonising death without even stating a good reason for it, "I want Radahn because he's kind and strong" buddy you have brainwashing powers and two of the strongest demigods on your side already, they should have been about the fate of the stars and Radahn being the only one who can to help Miquella because "I dunno I just like him" is genuinely the stupidest plot point in this entire game

Godwyn and the eclipse: forgotten, I'm not saying Godwyn absolutely should have been the final boss but the fact that a DLC about Miquella doesn't have a single mention of the eclips plan baffles me, not even a "yeah it wasn't going to work so I gave up", it genuinely feels like Fromsoft forgot their own writing
Messmer: irrelevant, he's just Fire Giant again
St Trina: irrelevant, all she does is tell you to kill Miquella which you were already going to do
Rellana, Gaius and Romina: not a single line of dialogue or personality
NPCs: oh hey these characters are actually pretty interesting I can't wait to see what they do nex- aaaaaaand they're all dead, what a shocker
Marika: her story and motivations were expanded in a satisfying way, she's the best part of the DLC lore despite not being present
Overall this sure was a disappointing DLC in terms of story. Great bosses, great areas, mediocre writing (aside from the NPCs and Marika) and we didn't even get any interesting interactions with the main game

He has Needle Knights. Radahn dying is mandatory and yet doesn't commit all his forces and leaves him dying until Jerren does a successful Radahn Festival. He also sends 0 manpower to the Radahn Festival because if it fails then lol maybe next Radahn Festival. If the Player doesn't care for the Radahn Festival, Radahn can be living for the next hundred years in agony and cannibalizing corpses.
He needs Mohg dead. He does NOTHING to get anybody at Mohgwyn Mausoleum to kill Mohg. The Player gets there with no influence from Miquella. He has Mohg compelled and even if he doesn't order Mohg off a cliff, he can compel a messenger to send word of his location so Malenia can come. The people at the Haligtree are so devoted that they suicide bomb the Player so they clearly would march and kill Mohg if Miquella asks.
If the Player doesn't kill the two people Miquella needs dead for him, Miquella's plans are dead in the water. He has full power to achieve his goals but is too stupid to use his resources right. I would go as far to say Miquella's so stupid that he's scary. His hugs? The reason you die from getting your heart stolen is an aneurism from Miquella's dumbness. Why doesn't PCR summon rocks as big as Starscourge Radahn or use Cragblade? Because equipping Miquella on your back lowered his INT too low.
Miquella is so stupid that he risks infecting the entire universe. Maybe Miquella's power was never compelling people, it was making everyone stupid by passing on his negative IQ and therefore Miquella seems very convincing because you're too stupefied to realize how dumb he is.

Hit up forts (guaranteed staff spawn from the staff rack on the top level in the map room) and mage towers (guaranteed starlight shards from the crates in the first floor) when routing allows for it for ez caster gear. You're really only looking for one good spell to spam on fights which is really easy to manage because there are several good sorceries and practically the entire pool of staff spells are offensive ones.
Aside from that stack relevant passives in your other slots. Reduced spell cast/cast time, magic attack/sorcery/charged sorcery damage, damage negation while casting, etc.
Then you just spam your best spells, manage your FP with your skill and starlight shards, and use your Ult whenever you'll have enough of a window to capitalize on it since it keeps your mana up and provides a good damage boost.
The gaol relic and FP up w/3+ staves, FP up when unlocking mage towers, magic attack up relics you can buy from the sovereign currency vendor are both great, and the remembrance relic with magic attack up and terra magicka when absorbing magic essence is also very good, and all three are guaranteed so you don't even really need to bother with the gacha.

The spell combos you can get from it are better for utility than straight up damage since your staff spells will do way more damage and be way more spammable, and it's difficult to get the specific cocktail you want when multiple people are shitting out elemental damage. It's FP management first and foremost, getting any of the good spells is just a nice bonus.

Typically if you use the skill after every 1 or two casts you can gain FP in a fight unless you are casting costly spells. keep in mind to be careful so you dont wait too long and your teamates kill the thing before you get enough FP to cast again, its ok to sacrifice damage to ensure you have more FP for the important fights in between sites of grace.
Moon or the stars is probably the best for carrying groups. Crystal shards is really good too but not as easy as moon or stars because its shorter range.
Just about any spell can do well at least in some situations but spells with a bit of tracking are typically best. rancor spells have great tracking but might be too slow for catching up to fast bosses.
Theres a few rare niche spells like ghostflame explosion which can carry much of the game if you can get them off as a boss is spawning in or when the boss is targetting someone else (or use invisibility with duchess) but dont typically work well vs nightlords.

Then it's a running stump. If you didn't spot it instantly but still triggered it's aggro radius chances are it ran far away.

Anything that can't be statused like nightaspect sucks for duchess and to lesser extent executor. Yoy can make all them work it's just how far do you have to go out of your wheelhouse to do that. Usually the father the more gear rng you'll need and passives to support that.

I guess basically the main idea is that Miquella is following Marika's footsteps to an actual god (using the Gate of Divinity), but instead of following the Greater Will's way of doing things, Miquella said "Nah, I'mma do my own thing" and use his powers to just mind control directly rather than create an order that people will follow
Honestly the Greater Will is a pretty confusing entity, seemingly very flawed and just prone to fucking up. And I'm not saying that like I ate Shabriri grapes and saying chaos should take the world; it just seems that whatever Marika tried, The Lands Between remain a flawed place where conflict and disaster still happened.
But I guess that what makes Fromsoft games Fromsoft games; the world is an imperfect place and mistakes can and will be repeated.

Malenia who he tried to save in the past he knowingly lets be used as a sacrifice and I assume the justification is that she can't be cured so they both agreed she'd be better off dead.

His position as an empyrean is ultimately miniscule and that fact would be hammered in more the more he learns. We saw the lengths ranni would go to, what marika would go to, what every demigod in the shattering would go to. Miquella has just as much resolve. There's even room for a fatal flaw of self sacrificing in there, I don't see miquella cutting short his ambitions and doing a copout like becoming a god through the same process marika did though. I don't see him getting warped by doom and doubt, rather instead warped by the impossible weight of the task at hand and sacrificing all he can to tackle it. At first this sounds like what is going to happen in the dlc but that is not the case as his "lofty" plans show far too little ambition in their implementation.
The things that don't make sense are the fixation on radahn that is clearly just to try (and fail) at delivering on some radahn fanservice as deadlines were approaching for an audience he misread, and his apparent ability to sacrifice his own sister and care nothing about saving her. What I guess we are supposed to gather is his fatal flaw is that he's just an innocent lovestruck boy over all else and isn't cut out for any real sacrifice like every other demigod has shown to be and should instead be put down. Except he also constantly proves his resolve and abilities every step of the way in anything elden ring. It's just a dumb and infantile thing to add on to the character, and it's not interesting.
