If you want to understand how the FGC operates just look at Tekken 8.
After S2 release a bunch of players including streamers said they'd be going back to T7 or switch to some emulators or modded version of T8, and for a few day a few of them did.
But it didn't last for longer than a week for the majority of them quickly returned back to T8, and after a single patch which only toned down Jack and Paul and no one else, they're back to the grind on a game that was supposedly by a patch that has yet to be fixed, the new moves are still there, heat is still there, everything they complained about is still there, yet they couldn't stop themselves from playing it, the same way people couldn't stop themselves from playing SFV at launch and now SF6 at launch.

I've been playin Gief since SF4, I didn't start playing big body characters to be run dashing around at people. It just isn't what I'm lookin for out of these games. The system mechanics in SF6 seem heavily skewed towards a very rushdown heavy playstyle, but I ain't about rushing people down, so they don't really offer me much.

To give you an idea of Jive's retarded point inflation, in the first of that game, Platinum was where pro-level players were. By the end of the game's lifespan, you had several people with a 100 times to 300 times more points, just because they played a lot.

I also remember Arturo Sanchez trying to take advantage of this system to become relevant. He grinded ranked during the 1st year like nobody else. I think he was the first player in the world to reach Diamond. Eventually he got invited to Japan to play on stream with some pros at Topanga and he got absolutely dumpstered by players who probably all had half his LP.

In short, that system was a complete joke. MR is what it always should've been.
