Speaking of wounds. Anon a couple threads ago was recommending Faith's Fortitude (+2 Wounds on Zealot tree) for Havoc. Do you actually find moments to intentionally down yourself for the 75% heal in high Havocs, or do you just run it because you have 1-2 points floating and need to put them somewhere? There never seems like a good time to do the suicide heal, and I hate intentionally taking damage enough as it is, much less intentionally downing. Feels like an annoying thing to communicate to teammates mid-mission as well.

Yes, sometimes. The time to do so is usually after you fought your way through a wave of enemies, and the audio cue for a new wave just started playing, but you're on low health and/or cooldown. Pop a fire barrel and suicide into it, or find some stragglers to down you.

This obviously assumes things already got out of hand to the point where you took relevant amounts of damage to where downing yourself is worth a 75% heal, and you're only able to do it when until death is on cooldown. With good enough teams it's completely unnecessary.

Nope, the entire build is centered around having high health, with the health regen, with martyr's purpose. I can only free up that one point in the wounds, I am not willing to give up the crit aura, or the chorus modifier, and even 2 points would only buy me scourge or sustained assault, both of which are melee centric when most of the damage comes from flamer.

I honestly forgot about that. Duelist is excellent, but it simply doesn't matter when the situation turns serious. Your actual melee DPS only matters against human bosses, and chances are that someone absolutely fucking rapes them once the shield pops, and you're just there to pressure the shield. And even if not, the team should have enough collective melee DPS to where it doesn't matter.
Taking an extra stab to kill gunners with a headshot isn't really a big deal, and all of the other situations where your melee DPS could theoretically matter, you should be using chorus anyway. At least, that's my logic.

Taking duelist over faith's fortitude is absolutely fine, and unambiguously better if you have a good team, and can avoid ever even being pressured to the point of losing health. But it's a build designed to support pubbie randos. We both know that's a pipedream.

Makes sense. There have been a couple times where there was a middling amount of lesser melee enemies on screen for me to deal with and not much else, but I guess killing them a bit faster with the dueling sword wouldn't really matter at that point anyway.

40s players are definitely better, but you inevitably run into issues like needing a warmup game or two to properly "click" with one another, because everyone has a slightly different understanding of how to play, and very few people ACTUALLY communicate with more than pings (not that it's needed). One of the more common situations is having an obvious opening to make a forward push, but the bubblecuck is pissing his pants at the prospect of leaving his cuck bubble without gold toughness, when all he has to do is follow the zealot. Or maybe one guy is obviously more comfortable than everyone else and aggressively pushing all the time, but the other players aren't on the ball.

Just ignore them and run past, or slice your way through until you can. They only matter when they're sneaking up behind whomever you're assigned as a bodyguard to. If there's too many, just drop a grenade, it's what they're there for. I tend to be pretty liberal with my first two grenades. If anything looks like it won't be easy to flamer dead, or you're simply in too close quarters to really move around, just drop one. Even your last one. Zealot's grenade equip time is the fastest in the game, you can pretty much immediately go back to blocking if you're surrounded.

They reworked block weapons to be outright better than parry weapons like half a year ago. They require you to precisely time your perfect block with the incoming enemy attack, do not stagger the enemy you blocked, and do not give you the "cinematic" pistol execution option afterwards. This means you have to block each part of an enemy's combo perfectly, or interrupt it with a hyper armor fully charged block weapon explosion which you're rewarded with after every two successful perfect blocks. I haven't noticed anything broken by Arbites itself, though. You're coupling it with the free update that dropped ALONGSIDE Arbites, which did break things. The only thing currently broken by the actual Arbitrator class is in-game balance, which was already pretty much nonexistent to begin with.

Top 1/3 of the tree is a matter of preference. Just pick whichever grenade/knife you prefer.
Bottom 2/3 is basically set in stone.
Pick a ranged gun of choice. For curios I like to go big toughness but you can add a stamina curio if you want.

NTA but if going knives, I'd recommend bolter, since you can cancel the equip animation by throwing a knife. Good for nuking bosses, accurate and high damage at long range, and can deal with armor blobs in case you need it (since the eviscerator is a piece of shit)
Otherwise I'd recommend bolt pistol with unyielding and puncture, just shoot monstrosities 4 times to stack bleed and then every other second or so, and they bleed out real fast. Great overall weapon.

Went back to ogryn after playing arby until now and realized that arby is just ogryn with an op dog, good guns and none of the molasses on dodging and movement. Tankiness and melee prowess wise very similar tho.

I'm still maining zealot in h40, but going back to regular auric zealot after having played so much arbitrator feels fucking awful. Class specific weapons are unwieldy and slow, shared weapons are all used better by arbitrator or outright suck, and I refuse to use the fucking dueling sword.
Arby's effortlessly and passively gains more toughness than zealot has to actively fight for, the weapons are much more comfortable to use, the class is fast when it wants to be and BTL is a better mobility tool, gets a fucking bot following it around, etc.
Standard FotF never really appealed to me in the first place, and martyrdom always felt awful to play. What the fuck is even left? Stealth knife bullshit? Chorus knife cope? It's been a long while since I've bothered with stealth, but it always feels so faggy to play. And knife requires too much spam clicking to be comfortable.

The qrd for this phenomenon is that all the good players have breezed through the ranks very early on, anyone that cared about the assist penance has also finished it early on, and now all the good players are very likely AT WORST h30 after seasonal decay. h20+ is where fading light starts showing up, which is the great filter. This means that the h20-29 range is populated with the hardest of stucks, aka absolute fucking sub-humans.

Unless you want to play with premades, the only advice I can give is to install mods that let you inspect from the party finder, host yourself, and scrutinize to an extreme degree. Chances are you won't even find enough players to scrutinize. This is unironically the worst part of that system.
Either become the sweatiest of sweats, or just play your weekly games for mats until you're bored with the mode, or abandon it entirely. There's not much middle ground.

In case you want to experiment, this is what I was trying to run for a Mk VI shield build in Havocs before I gave up getting a group. Worked fine in the low 30s. You could swap mines for nades if you want some damage instead of even more CC. Opportunist + High Voltage on shield. MK VIII Shotgun with successive shots (for bossing) and either damage to staggered or Full Bore. Shield is GOATed CC and strong damage (not as strong as 1H maul, but the trade-off is worth with Havoc randoms, as another anon said).

Dog builds with Puncture bolter/bolt pistol and the dog explosion are also very powerful.

Butting in to the conversation to say that, depending on if a weapon has another stat that can be considered useless, high mobility can and does make a difference. It can affect crosshair bloom for ranged weapons, and when the fuck do you ever need collateral (suppression) on a lasgun? Similarly, depending on how your build uses for example the dueling sword, dumping cleave is a-ok.

The difference mobility makes is small enough to where it should, as a rule of thumb, almost always be the dump stat, especially if you're unsure. But the difference is felt in some niche cases nonetheless.

Shield Plates or Man and Cyber-Mastiff?

I feel like I need a way to gain one little bit extra amount of Toughness easy. And they both look tempting. But both have downsides.

Play around and use what works for you. I think I run a stam, a health, and a toughness on mine for normal play. As for wounds, if you're going down a lot, you should drop difficulty until you stop eating so much damage. If you're trying to cross from Malice to Heresy (or whatever difficulty starts giving you only 2 wounds), running a wound curio until you're used to the difficulty spike makes some sense. But focus on improving your ability to avoid damage and disabling so you can move away from a wound curio.

I only have a few points of note;

>Second - Razor-Jaw Augment is very powerful, but you should just be aware that it is currently bugged and that if your dog kills someone with the bleed rather than their own damage whether it's from their melee damage or the node Voltaic Mandibles, it will not count as having being killed by you. FURTHERMORE, any damage done by the bleed is also no counted as you, so you will not get any kind of kill buffs from the bleed killing or any kind of damage buffs from the bleed, nor will those kills or that damage show up. From my testing, it's rare, but it does happen from time to time.

Despite their name, the 'Rejects' are pretty high tier as far as individual units go, you pretty much have to hit named character status before you can groups of people who can take on entire squadrons of relatively well trained enemies and come out on top, but then you remember they also have decently powerful psykers and ogryns with them and it kind of makes more sense. All armors in darktide are cosmetic and give no benefits of any kind. We have gasmask in this game and we are still dying to Nurgle's fart gas.
Also we have the arbites tree and we saw what they did to "integrate" the armor into the gameplay, the skill tree just has two +25 flat toughness nodes in it.
Hell, we even got a "rebreather" node in the skilltree for the arbites and it just gives you +20% corruption resistance and you take 75% less damage from tox gas. But nobody uses it because it sucks.

That is what you're getting in a skilltree regards to armor, a talent node that gives you more flat toughness or a talent node which makes you take less corruption damage.

I like all of these options. The only thing I would add as a super hopium induced want is a combat Servitor.
Not a spider legged one but more a Mr X style stone faced corpse robot around Ogryn height with inbuilt weapons whose banter is much like the medicae station Servitors where you can sometimes glimpse the person inside suffering immensely before being overwritten to dispense pleasantries.
