It's Demo Day 63, and you'd like to get something back from all your hard effort.
I will make a generous donation to your demo if you add a screen at the beginning that says "I'm a farty fart man with a big smelly butt that smells like farts". It must be unskippable and stay present and visible for at least 5 seconds.
Note that for any qualifying games I'll be waiting a week to make sure you don't just immediately replace it.
I don't want to list an exact amount, because a game where it really doesn't fit in, or going "the extra mile" (fart noises in your soundtrack, especially in a serious game, things like that) will be rewarded more heavily.

Animation helps a ton. Even shitty small sprites look much better with animations. It's a shame I didn't build for animations, instead I just have keyframes.

the biggest one is about 160x140, though I'm drawing them in 200x200 boxes
most small sprites I draw are in 300x300 boxes, these ones are just smaller than usual, then I have a 600x600 sprite enemy somewhere

I'm trying to build an FPS where you can run on walls and ceilings when you touch them, like it changes gravity.
like in a cube, you could just run into a wall, run on the wall, then the ceiling, etc.
I know how to update the player's "down" vector when touching a wall, but I have no idea how I should rotate the player and I how I should setup movement controls to not break after the rotation.
maybe I need to use euler rotations?

There are 66 demoday submissions as I am writing this, and it will only grow, last demoday had more. If you give each just 30 minutes, you do the math how long it takes to give valuable feedback. It's a lot of work.
If I see the demo of some faggot I already know, I am going to play it, because in the last two months I've been seeing screenshots, gifs, videos, soundbites, and interpretative dance about it. It makes me curious what kind of game it turned out to be. After DD ends, I will see more of this stuff about it as well, the discussion will continue, and we might even talk about how Silent Hill captured horror and later entries failed to grasp it.
If I see the demo of someone I don't know, I will likely have nothing to go by, but the screenshots, title, and cover art. Which might be shit compared to the game. It is more likely that you will be picked by the randomizer, and I play your demo, instead of me picking it for its merits.

I'm already covered on the desktop end with a 12 year old PC as a worst-case scenario (Ivy Bridge i5 + GTX460). We're talking late-PS2/early-PS3 era levels of graphics targeting with baked lighting, so I'm not sure what's reasonable to look for on the laptop end that someone would actually try to play games on. I don't want to be that guy who goes "1060GTX or higher" like I've seen on a few indie games that run like garbage despite looking like shovelware PS1 games.

Also saw a game that utilized vertex colours for defining the intensity of an overlaid animated pencily texture that it used inplace of vertex lighting from the environment. Actually was a pretty novel way to cheat the appearance of extra detail in what were low-rez character textures, since it was around 10-15% opacity for a lot of the non-clothing portions in regular lighting.

Every Coven has only two units to choose from, but at the moment there are already 25 different Coven, so 50 different units.
But it was impossible to find any kind of coherent assets to cover 50 different units with reasonable gameplay and flavor variance, and from an isometric perspective. (Making 50 different bland humanoids would be possible, but pointless.) So the assets I got are extremely incoherent, just watch the trailers on Steam to get an idea. This is the weakest point of the game currently, and like I said, I am thankful about any inspired help I can get. I also don’t have strict designs for the units in the game, many are designed after the asset that I found. So if you feel like just contributing one unit of your own design, that’s already cool.
Generally the ideal approach, to my mind, would be making the game all pre-rendered "2.5D" sprites like StarCraft1, Infinite Engine games, etc. To that effect I could also buy some 3D assets on the internet and you would take care of rendering them to spritesheets in a suitable fashion. If that’s some kind of work you’re interested in. - There is also the need for proper terrain tilesets, or to improve the pixel art ones that I bought.
Some further notable points about the game:

Wireworks - Really good streamer bait, however needs some balance tweaking and harder scaling. I make it to wave 250 and hit a money overflow with interest. A great base that can definitely be expanded upon.
6 Ways to 7 - I skipped the tutorial and still don't know how to play craps but it is juiced very well and I was having fun just pressing buttons. The wojaks were a bit of a turn off, but perhaps I'm not the audience for that.
Asset Flip Auto Battler - Seems interesting, I've seen this formula before with Riot's TFT. Maybe I'm just stupid but I couldn't beat the third round. Cool concept however!

Inner circle just sounds like a label given to the competent devs desu. Though even with that, their games aren't necessarily GMI tier, just devs whose games look higher effort. The most important changes in this new build involve localization fixes that were necessary for Russian players to use the mod uploader tools and access their local savedata if their name contained cyrillic characters, but there are several other improvements and features that have been added, too.

I menaged to actually make the sprite and it doesnt clip off a piece of the other frames leg on top of the current frames head or anything!
It doesnt have the arms swinging animation or the stepping animation(i didnt want to add animation just for it to be broken and have to be redone again) and left is right and right is left so that also has to be fixed but yeah one step closer to victory

on a personal note I think the movement feels good but the levels are a little too boring to move around in.
I'm also losing interest in the daily collection minigame. some sort of busywork is important to spread players out across the map but I'm not sure looting is the best tool for that job

Neither petals nor chalk allow me to use dog, or in-game-radio-ghostwave checker, there's also an absence of one of the pieces of evidence in 'those that were present during the event'. Got the note, but failed to get anything out of gardener since he locked out during pressing him.
I'm fairly sure there's one piece of evidence I'm missing, walked entire map back and forth, even got the end of the demo message, but no last clue in sight for the time being. Any tips?

What's a good way to set about doing pixelart? I've been making small games just as learning exercises before doing the game I actually want to make, and I was just using placeholder assets for a good while and only recently thought I should try getting some grasp of doing art. Most overpowered item can be found in the area with the witch house, just go directly to the chest without interacting with the enemies.
Just a few tips, oh, and killing Milfred in the witch zone also gives you free xp. There are a bunch of such things.

They had two interchangeable systems: drag and drop actions/events, and scripts. You could either tie a script to an event, or to the "step event" that happens every frame. With all of this, it was very easy to start with drag and drop and public examples, and gradually move over to code.
It has probably changed a lot since then, but if it's anything like it was before I'd recommend it to beginners who want to dabble in gamedev.

Day 36 on a Thread for Project C-Con – "Plate or Bowl" Edition

So yeah making the plate like I said I was going to do yesterday was easier than I thought it'd be due to finding a nice quick clip just walking through it. Next I'd imagine you could also add a texture to the mesh to make it more plate-like, but it's pretty decent for now. The subsurface scattering and smoothing really does a lot to sell it.

The RPGMaker UI feel and sounds are weird especially with how high quality and hand made the rest of the game feels like.
The crub is so unbelievably annoying especially when you're new to the game and still exploring... I hate how much it heals and revives. It should have lower MP so it can stop doing that sooner. In short, the crub is the second worst enemy (first is the ragebaiter crab).
Mushroom man is kinda annoying with how you can spam click enter and get his dialogue multiple times, because the heal animation doesn't block the enter key.
Buying ladders was pretty confusing, and it doesn't tell you "ladder unlocked!" or anything the game quietly unlocks the ladders. When you have already unlocked a ladder, it doesn't tell you either. You can still select the option.
I believe ladders don't subtract money from you. All in all the process of unlocking ladders is too quiet and discreet.
The witch need work in general.
Misery machine was a pretty nice addition.
Ragebait is a shitty status effect, it locks your party slowly, one by one for no good reason and you can't cure it. That one crab keeps spamming it, it's entirely unfair and annoying.
I don't like the blinking effect when going from level to level.
The witch's house's entrance's collision (yeah) is kinda janky, I'm passing by it and it enters me into the house.
Game is kinda hard on the eyes what with the crt filter, and other shit going on.

I went 1:30 hours into the game, exploring the entire thing and wondering "where do I go next?" when I accidentally walked into the forest...
yeah you might want a big sign that says FOREST THAT WAY for dumbasses like me.
The problem is I can't tell if the game is actually incomplete in some parts or if it's just the story. That's all for now.
