A lot of these references or baits are usually vestiges of character conception that made it past the refinement process one way or another. That's not to say Shaoji couldn't have been a shipper himself or self-inserter in his own narrative but it's usually just leftovers from what was probably the original prototype. Hoyo usually writes the narrative on the go so to speak and leaves a lot of room to navigate or pivot. They probably had a version of the story where Phainon's childhood was a big focus but was scrapped for more emphasis on the Eternal Reoccurrence. The Blade and Jingliu relationship is also an example of this where a lot of elements don't really make sense in the context of the final product and probably deviated a ton from original conception.

I have never been so interested Amphoreus characters but I was interested in Phainon since he is Kevin expy... Amidst the thousands of long and unnecessarily poorly written dialogues of Amphoreus the developers were clearly cooking up that he would be the "main character" of Amphoreus doing something important for the future of Amphoreus, however... all of that is thrown out the window when he absorbs Khaslana's memories and goes on a suicidal attack against Nanook (great animation btw) and now the "main character" is just... we, the main character, and Phainon is just a ladder.

I felt personally betrayed by how it seemed like the Phainon we knew was just 1 of 33 Million and he didn't get the development the story was building towards, he only inherited Khaslana's memory and completed the arc of "another him" who had just a little of buildup (and a generic one).

And now Amphoreus is a big waste of time. When they revealed that there was a past cycle with other heirs (Gnaeus and co.) I expected that the heirs of the present would return as titans and Phainon, now as Kephale conclude his arc and save Amphoreus but out of nowhere there's 33M cycles within a single cycle, with the same characters and everything we did in Amphoreus was kinda irrelevant.

In other cycles of the Eternal Recurrence Mydei managed to defeat Nikador without our help (I don't know how he managed to go back in time and deal with the Gnaeus statues), Castorice managed to reunite with her sister and inherit her place, the same thing with Hyacine and Aquila... All this happened without us. Our cycle in Amphoreus seemed unique but now it is just a speck of dust out of 33 million.

The heirs we met are gone, but just one version of them. If they come back as new characters they will lose all development, if they come back as the same ones, their sacrifice would be in vain and if they don't come back... it would probably be better but there's still that feeling of 6 wasted months...

Awful advice from people who have been playing for over a year and forgot how the first months of the game are like.

Until you reach Equilibrium 70, most people will be running double sustain. There's absolutely no room for harmony in a beginner's team. It takes a normal person 3 months to even reach eq 70 and finish the main story, and during all this time while they are playing the most important part of the game, they'll have Ruan Mei sitting on the bench. Don't get me started on the fact you can't even get gear for Ruan Mei until you reach Penacony.

The best option is nothing, the token doesn't expire, but if you really want to pull something, go for Luocha or Bailu. Having a 5-star healer will make your time playing the story much more smooth, and both are decent healers for story content. Alternatively, you can use a so so healer the story gives you very soon (Natasha), and instead pick up Gepard. Just be warned there's a lot of overlap in Gepard's and the MC's kit after you get your very first alternative path, which is after you finish the Belobog arc, which can take you a bit.

Don't rush to raise your equilibrium. If you raise and then you don't have materials to level all your characters, enemies will just become really annoying and even random mobs will give you problem. Even if you don't do the test to raise the equibrium cap, exp you collected remains collected, you're not losing anything. Higher equilibrium lets you have greater rewards from calyxes and stuff, but honestly none of that is worth your time or stamina until you are at max equilibrium, the rewards are just ass.

What you should look for is a DPS you like, because they'll be the main piece of your team. Don't get swallowed by talk of meta and powercreep, as those only really matter for really endgame content that you won't even be able to touch for months. As long as the DPS is not called Jingliu and is not on the standard banner, it's probably fine.

Another thing to keep an eye out are limited abundance or preservation that you like on banners. Most of them are good enough and easy to slot on almost any team, and they'll greatly improve your experience because they're leagues better than Luocha, Bailu or Gepard. Aventurine, Lingsha and Hyacine are specially really fucking good and comfy to use.

After you have a DPS you like and a limited sustain you like ("sustain" is a healer or shielder that keeps your team alive), you start to look into what kind of support characters you want for your DPS. Most DPS have a bis, and then other 2 or 3 options that are just fine. You should have some flexibility to make sure your team is to your tastes.
