I have been playing the game for over a week now on both PC and mobile. I am not F2P as I paid $200 for my first deck. Initially, the economy seems to be very bad (500 gold pack price, lower vial from liquefying silvers, and, critically, no liquefy first 3 copies). I thought it would sucks so bad as a F2P player or a low-spender. One week ahead, I changed my mind. The economy is fine and I can enjoy many good decks. In my current opinion, the only thing that need change is the no liquefy first 3 copies rule.

I am not the luckiest player (no 100 packs key jackpot) and neither I do any reroll. Just straight up normal player that buys all crystal package, plus battle pass. Currently, I have 2 top tier, pretty much fully upgraded decks (puppet portalcraft and artifact portalcraft, 3 if you include hybrid). I also have enough vials from extra cards to upgrade my half-baked decks into good viability (ramp dragon, midrange sword, aggro abyss). The only classes where I don't have enough resources to even make half-baked decks are runecraft and havencraft, in which both have very expensive top tier decks (I am absolutely fine with this, F2P players and low-spenders aren't supposed to have everything). Finally, I have around 7000 gold that I save for next expansion (that is still growing everyday) as I am satisfied enough with my current collection.

So far so good. I am having a blast with this game and I have variety of viable decks. So, what happens that suddenly change my mind and my perspective on the economy? It turns out that the economy is REALLY supported by the freebies that Cygames give (Daily packs, park keys, events, events, events (many of them), bonus packs from here and there, and recently, 3 free legendary packs). So, as long as Cygames keep pumping up these freebies, I think the economy is going to be fine.

As much as I hate the no liquefy first 3 copies rule (and expensive cosmetics lol), I can't give the game negative review anymore.

Honestly I’m just having a lot of fun with this game and wanted to post something positive about it after seeing all the negative reviews.

I’ll freely admit that I’m not a FTP player, but I haven’t spent a ton (only $200) and I’m really enjoying the fast-paced experience and play styles so far.

I’ve never played the original Shadowverse so I’m not doing a direct comparison here. I will say however that compared to the CCGs/TCGs I’m used to (Hearthstone, MTG including physical) the cost here really doesn’t seem out of line from what I’m accustomed to with this genre. Again, not comparing to the original, just the experience of a totally new player.

I was going to wait longer to write a post like this so I could speak with more gameplay experience, but I have a few decks built with reasonable success and am having a ton of fun, and because I almost didn’t start this game because of some of the negative posts I wanted to write from my experience to encourage other new players to try it out!

Rodeo won't activate fanfare amulets though so you can't balance around him being able to generate more tempo off his play. Though granted, he has a pretty decent super evo for taking the board back so that's not a huge issue for him to begin with. In theory he really wants to run the smallest amulet pool he can get away with for consistency but taking the 1pp amulets out of your deck is suicide.

I have finished my journey towards the full set + lucky chest and I'm sure you guys would like to know if the packs are rigged in some way. Anyone who has been playing these types of games for long enough knows from firsthand experience that it tends to do whatever will make you spend more in it, and depending on the circumstances this involves giving you what you want, or doing the complete opposite and fucking you over. The term "desire sensor" wasn't born out of thin air.

Now, I've played games with more subtle algorithms than this one. My predictions when pulling in this one were among the most consistently correct. Here's my personal rundown:

In first place, I didn't reroll, as I knew I was going to splurge and get everything that I wanted eventually. Now, the first thing that worked in my favor is that I got 3 Albert tickets among my first 50 or so packs. This is extremely unlikely, and the game's algorithms know it, so this would be probably considered a 'reroll' account that I 'chose' to keep, and therefore this puts a 'tag' of sorts on your account, which in my case would be that I am a flaming homo or fujo who really wanted to pull Albert. This is wrong, but it'll be relevant later. As my starter deck, I picked sword, simply because it's what I wanted to play initially, but this probably reinforced the previous data that the game had on me.

Fast forward two or so weeks after launch, these were the cards that I still hadn't pulled once:

At this point I considered my initial hypothesis confirmed. This also provides us with two very interesting points:

At this point I also had a full rune collection that was only missing 3x Kuon (which I wasn't planning on playing anyway, as I don't care about rune). Now, my lucky chest goal was either the animated Arias or Eudies. These are probably less valuable than the leaders, as they'll eventually rotate out (the game knows this too) but I wanted them because you can't obtain them simply by rerolling. In addition, I like forest the most, and I had already crafted some cards for it, included an animated Aria that I globed. I knew this worked in my detriment, as the game now knows this is something I would want to get.

Based on the above comes the following hypothesis. The desire sensor categorized my preferences for the lucky chest drops as such:
>Albert ticket -> most preferrable (I already "rerolled" for 3 of his tickets, meaning I'm a flaming homo)
>animated Kuon -> next option (the only other homo drop from the lucky chest; now I'm not too sure about this, but the game might have thought that I hoped to get his animated copies eventually, which is why I hadn't crafted any copies of him)
>animated Aria -> somewhat desirable (I actually wanted her the most, the game has some data on this since I played a lot of forest)
>other tickets -> neutral picks
>Eudie tickets -> least desirable according to the desire sensor (my actual second most preferrable option, but the game thinks I'm gay, and I also had a portal deck that until then I had never used once)

Now, you would know that the lucky chest won't automatically give you what you want the least just to fuck you over. Like every other game I have played, it'll actually give you what you want if it improves the odds to profit from you (e.g. for an older game in which you used to whale a lot, and then you come back after a year or two, it'll give you what you want 9 times out of 10 to convince you to stay). However, in this case it was more beneficial for me to make the game give me what "I wanted the least" (the animated Eudies, which I was actually aiming for).
For that purpose, I employed a mostly proven hypothesis based on my experience with previous games: when the game detects you are "impulse rolling", it'll hold back from giving you the thing you want, as it has estimated that you'll continue to spend in quick succession until you finally hit the pity counter to claim your prize. Now, here I wasn't completely sure how to convince the game for sure that I am a deranged gambling addict, but I just proceeded to pull the 1000 crystal packs nonstop which would take me to the lucky chest after about 70 something pulls, and I wanted the Olivia sleeves anyway. The results of these rolls are also interesting, as they show how it attempts to convince you to empty your stash:

>third and fourth ten roll had 2 leggos
>every single ten roll after that had a single leggo, and the final two of them were leggos I was already above 3x of each

Now that I was impulse rolling, the game was going to give my 'least desired' drop for the lucky chest, the animated Eudies, since the algorithm had determined that I was surely going to spend until the 350 pity for the selector. Needless to say, I promptly claimed the Eudies.

Finally I would like to add that the RNG is actually close to fully random as long as you are f2p or a minnow. The game only pulls off this shit if you are in a higher expending bracket, so most people shouldn't worry that they are being fucked over by rigged pulls.

There are very funny documented examples of whales on gacha games such as FGO and Genshin pulling several copies of the same servant or weapon that they didn't want that should be statistically impossible to achieve, if the claimed rates were true.

I've had some very satisfying matches with roach, but also some very sad matches where I'm sitting there doing circus gymnastics to try to play the game and clear the board waiting for a roach that never ever comes.

In general though I do think it's an enjoyable deck. And I don't regret putting Aria in. Sometimes the storm fairies really do rape the shit out of people.

Vengeance was a lot of fun to play around in CBlood, especially in matchups against aggro and burn. You'd hover around 10 hp, making you seem like an easy kill for the aggro/dirt deck, but being a very hard target in practice as you can heal up any damage they deal that's less than lethal and even proactively defend against damage with the mask, all while removing everything they throw at you.

Abyss can already deal 18 damage out of hand at 10pp with a super evolve, they just need two crypts on board for it. This would make it easier to pull off in terms of removing the crypt requirement.

old sv stayed at a powerlevel higher than this for the back half of it's existence. it's perfectly plausible for things to scale in the same direction.
Also, the power level is not straightforwardly so powerful. a lot of low drops are strong, but we're genuinely a long way from where they were, and a lot of cards arent as strong as you'd expect.

What other anon said, old SV stabilized at some point. We know that the sets have been designed well in advance and rotation is already confirmed. Decks are probably very strong right off the bat because they already decided that the current power level is going to be the power level for all the foreseeable future.

Balance of all things is not a real concern right now. The worst decks in the game still have a game against the best ones which wasn't very common in the original Shadowverse at all. They built a very strong foundation for tuning and tweaking power. We have a hundred things to be concerned about but power creep really isn't one of them for anyone who isn't just a reactionary that gets mad at everything, all signs point towards us being pretty stable on the balance end. We've got better things to doom over.

It isn't a balancing issue. Better decks and worse decks will always exist in any asymmetrical card game. It's a design problem. Blood did the most damage to the game's health of any class by a mile, and offered very little in return. Vengeance itself was a nightmare to design around. We'd occasionally see a fun Blood deck but they'd always have to cheat the mechanic, and then the rest of the game would have to warp around Blood even when it was a garbage deck. Everyone who played Shadowverse with any consistency knows how poorly Blood was designed.

When other classes were broken they'd just do some shit like raise the cost of dshift or nerf some problem cards. When blood is broken the rest of the game is broken.
