How is your deck? I am having a lot of trouble with Sword and Forest. Not sure what to adjust.

I feel like Spellboost is fair until you add their legendaries to the equation. 1 boost per spell is pretty fair until you get to the fact that Anne is a 4/4 body that spawns a 5/5 ward with rush and spellboosts your entire hand 3 times without needing an evo. Then you evolve her and she's a 6/6 body hidden behind a 5/5 ward that deals 3 damage to any follower.

Or Kuon spawning an entire board of 2/1, 3/3, 4/5 and his own 3/3 body all by himself without needing evo where two of his spawned followers have rush and the ward can get storm if you SEvo him. The ward can be a 10/10 fucker with storm and aura too if you play him on turn 10. And of course his entire board spellboosts your hand for 5 because why not.

And of course, Dimension Climb that can go down to 0pp, puts your current hand back into deck with all their spellboosts intact because god forbid the rune player is forced to discard their current hand or pay any sort of price then gets five new cards with five extra spellboosts on them and a full PP refund for their troubles.

So now that the dust has settled and the pack is nearly over, can we admit Orchis isn't the overpowered card everyone thought it was? She's extremely good, she's just not the "Win instantly" card idiots thought she is.

You can just make most opponents either not play Orchis or waste their Orchis by setting up that they now have to deal with instead of greeding your face. You can also just punish an enemy Orchis and win the game if they're within your lethal threshold with Abyss or Forest too since Lloyd isn't hard to deal with for them.

Some decks just can't set up to force the trade or won't always see their setup. Orchis isn't nerf-worthy, but she's a very amped up card. It can't be overstated how flexible she is on top of being able to steal games with even just a little setup. Even without setup, she's 7-8 Storm damage that leaves behind a fat defense Ward with Bane and forced targeting and her own body, which will often be an 8/8. She cleans up sticky boards really well because Bane is the single best form of removal in the game. Some decks are bad at maintaining board presence as it is. We're in a meta where you cannot rely on forcing Orchis to not hit your face unless you're on like Rune, Sword, or Haven. Forest sucks ass at building a board, Abyss comes online one turn later with Cerb, Dragon's setup is inconsistent and honestly not that threatening, and for Portal it depends on whether we're talking about Puppet or Artifact but neither really builds much of a board.

Forest has a similar problem where they CAN just kill you outright almost irrespective of your life total, but the deck just loses to its own bad hands because it needs to see certain sequences of cards to pull that off. Orchis is comparatively very simple due to being a lot of power and flexibility compounded into one card that gets even better if you got to hold onto other puppets and/or played out a Noah the turn prior.

Unironically. You're already playing with RNG on needing lucky draws. All things equal, whoever draws and plays out their ideal hand properly will be the winner. Reacting to the board isn't so much a skill as it is a matter of learning and experience. Once you get familiar enough with the card pool and understanding of what's on field and what your opponent could respond with, ideal lines emerge. If you're choosing to play a lesser deck, then the "all things equal" part goes out the window and now you're fighting from behind. It gets slightly more nuanced based on match-up advantages and spread, but you get the point.
Learning to hedge your bets properly and play to your outs is important, but constructing the correct deck is literally as much of or more of a skill than actually piloting said deck. If you take a bad player and put them on a broken deck, they can still take a good number of games. However, if you take a good player and put them on a dogshit deck then they'll still lose the vast majority of their games. You're looking at a game of material advantages where your resources are determined by what you put in your deck and when you see them. Understanding the meta game and responding to the decks you see is a more important skill than "outplaying" someone who is just playing out the optimal line given to them in each hand.

I have been playing the game for over a week now on both PC and mobile. I am not F2P as I paid $200 for my first deck. Initially, the economy seems to be very bad (500 gold pack price, lower vial from liquefying silvers, and, critically, no liquefy first 3 copies). I thought it would sucks so bad as a F2P player or a low-spender. One week ahead, I changed my mind. The economy is fine and I can enjoy many good decks. In my current opinion, the only thing that need change is the no liquefy first 3 copies rule.

I am not the luckiest player (no 100 packs key jackpot) and neither I do any reroll. Just straight up normal player that buys all crystal package, plus battle pass. Currently, I have 2 top tier, pretty much fully upgraded decks (puppet portalcraft and artifact portalcraft, 3 if you include hybrid). I also have enough vials from extra cards to upgrade my half-baked decks into good viability (ramp dragon, midrange sword, aggro abyss). The only classes where I don't have enough resources to even make half-baked decks are runecraft and havencraft, in which both have very expensive top tier decks (I am absolutely fine with this, F2P players and low-spenders aren't supposed to have everything). Finally, I have around 7000 gold that I save for next expansion (that is still growing everyday) as I am satisfied enough with my current collection.

So far so good. I am having a blast with this game and I have variety of viable decks. So, what happens that suddenly change my mind and my perspective on the economy? It turns out that the economy is REALLY supported by the freebies that Cygames give (Daily packs, park keys, events, events, events (many of them), bonus packs from here and there, and recently, 3 free legendary packs). So, as long as Cygames keep pumping up these freebies, I think the economy is going to be fine.

As much as I hate the no liquefy first 3 copies rule (and expensive cosmetics lol), I can't give the game negative review anymore.

Honestly I’m just having a lot of fun with this game and wanted to post something positive about it after seeing all the negative reviews.

I’ll freely admit that I’m not a FTP player, but I haven’t spent a ton (only $200) and I’m really enjoying the fast-paced experience and play styles so far.

I’ve never played the original Shadowverse so I’m not doing a direct comparison here. I will say however that compared to the CCGs/TCGs I’m used to (Hearthstone, MTG including physical) the cost here really doesn’t seem out of line from what I’m accustomed to with this genre. Again, not comparing to the original, just the experience of a totally new player.

I was going to wait longer to write a post like this so I could speak with more gameplay experience, but I have a few decks built with reasonable success and am having a ton of fun, and because I almost didn’t start this game because of some of the negative posts I wanted to write from my experience to encourage other new players to try it out!

The devs decided that. It's blatantly clear in their card design that 10 PP is the point where the game can just end at the drop of a hat. Every craft gets some form of direct damage out of hand in the late stages of the game, and few crafts can't just suddenly drop lethal from crazy ranges at 10 PP. Their cards are essentially free and wildly overvalued so the game happens entirely in their hand, depending solely on whether they drew the tools to get to t10 or vomit an unkillable board. You can spectate a Rune v X match and reliably predict whether or not it's even worth playing a game out for the opponent depending on what the runefag drew. Even IF its winrate was sub 50% (it's not) it would still be worth getting rid of because I don't want to spend 5 minutes wondering if I won or lost the game on the opening hand.

We had this same exact dogshit design with the original DShift which is why it got nerfed and eventually kicked to Unlimited to never see a reprint for all the remaining years of Shadowverse.

I'd argue that there is no fault in playing a "degenerate deck". If it's an actual problem, then it's the devs at fault for not doing anything about it. Everyone is trying to get something out of the game, and some people are looking to win, win in a certain way, or experience a play pattern they enjoy. Sometimes they enjoy how a so-called degenerate deck plays. Was SV1 Artifact Portal broken? Fuck yes it was, but it was also really fun to pilot at times. I just can't be mad at someone for playing an option that is not only possible, but encouraged by the game. There are tangible rewards for playing the best deck in the room, and that isn't the fault of the players.
Even if you want to talk definitions, there being such a thing as a degenerate deck is a sticking point to begin with. What makes it degenerate or lesser than an "honest deck?"

Powercreep can be a positive tool just as much as a negative one.

The game launched with the knowledge that new cards would come out and that they wouldn't be rehashing the same effects and play patterns forever. If you want a set experience, then you ought to pick up a limited format or board game where the components are fixed.

one, it's important to stick to your key principles to avoid alienating your old playerbase. The game changing is a huge reason why many players *do* leave the game, because they did not want a fundamental change and did not like the new play patterns.

Sword destroys aggro dragon and ramp dragon if they don't draw their apollos. Most of the time, dragon is hard mulling for apollos anyways. By the way, does dragon even have a positive matchup? I guess burnite and twillight dragon can deal with rune if dragon ramps, which is dependent on rng with only 2 ramp cards.
Despite being unfavoured against top level forest players, sword has the best matchup against it so it'll be run for that alone. With coachwoman, apollo and wards, it's practically teched to fight forest.

Everyone at this point knows Face Dragon matchup but for Ramp Dragon no, there isn't one that's favorable because it really isn't a real deck yet.
Sometimes you can catch people off guard if they mulled for Face, most obvious being Rune. You just spend the early game ramping up and throw Dragonslayer on lesbians or Burnite and Twilight on Kuon. Still gonna lose once they Satan DClimb though since Genesis fucking sucks.
