So here's my lil schizo theory.
Timeloop theory is true, and if we don't get the true destiny-defying ending, we just end up being looped back to chapter 1. That's why every chapter has a "Skip the long dialogue heavy intro" option.
The eggs are key to getting the ending you actually want though. Once you get your first ending, all of them will morph into a key item that lets you skip to the end of whatever chapter you got it in (after the boss and ending dialogues).
So if all you needed was the Black Shard, then warp to the end of chapter 2 to move on to 3, then speed run through it.
All progress is preserved until you actually finish chapter 7, so you can go back and forth as much as you wish to get all recruits, boss fights, and items.

That's the best eggsplanation I have for the eggs. I think they'll be somewhat important given how hard they are to find, but not so important as to lock the good ending eggsclusively behind them. (also, there's one per chapter, which I'm guessing means something.)

It's why "Don't forget" at the end of each chapter makes you feel like you just read the best damn story of your life. Just try this challenge run next time you play the game. I call it the joyless run.

The cards all say copies are gray but colored in they aren't.
Kris himself is the only one who is not the right color in the darkworld and is completely blue and red for no reason.

Toby just released a patch that cleared up several important things that could be "misconstrued" yet he didn't touch this dialogue. That alone is proof it means he is a copy.

Because it doesn't need to be. It's plenty clear on it's own, but people are intentionally misinterpreting it.

This is a wild assumption because we have nothing to back it yet. People conveniently gloss over the "7 flying aces" missing 7th is the receptionist in chapter 4's egg room, so whatever is in the castle town isn't one of them. Otherwise, all of their colors would be "fading". This is something we don't have an answer to yet.

I came to Deltatune to complete the mission. Seal the Fountains, Kill the Knight, Stop the Roaring. That is what I care about, nothing else, amf I can't even have that. I have no allies in the game who will actually take orders the way they're supposed to.

Flowey experienced wielding the power of a SOUL personally and had tried to get the SOULs Asgore had for a bunch of resets before you even showed up, he was also able to overpower the extremely vengeful Chara
It especially doesn't make sense if Asgore is extra wise for only pretending to want to gather SOULs to break the barrier and destroy humanity or whatever some people think he was up to, because then if he kills Frisk then he's just sitting on 7 human SOULs he killed for propaganda reasons and all that fake hope he was instilling in his people goes away
